CHAPTER TWENTY
I stormed into the room, breathing heavily, my heart racing as I plopped myself onto the bed. Corvus, snoozing away moments ago, jolted awake, and suddenly I could see my surroundings through his eyes.
"What bothers you, my lady? How did the conversation with the dragon king go?" the bird asked, genuine concern in his voice. I was at a loss for words to describe the mind-boggling encounter. The jaw-dropping revelations in the dragon king's chamber had me speechless, struggling to wrap my head around it all. "Was he truly a beast?" Corvus probed, snapping me out of my daze.
I spoke, my hand finding solace in running through my hair. "That man, let me tell you, is light-years away from being a beast. You can trust me on that," I insisted, emphasizing my words. "But perhaps what I'm about to ask you is something that only a woman can truly understand. I need to confide in a fellow female."
