Volume 1.2 We Can't Get Out

The Samurai Girl, who told us to call her Sia, was staring at all of us as we were now seated surrounding my dining table. Well except for the red dude who was still asleep. It was getting amazing already at how he could sleep like a log despite all those commotions.

Though Sia's gaze was penetrating, I kept on watching the news on the television.

{The Government has declared a state of National Emergency! Please stay in your rooms and don't wander on the streets. The people who suddenly became monsters are still wandering around. Please wait, until rescue comes.}

Then the television channel became black and white, leaving only a static channel. I turned to my phone, and videos of people becoming monsters were viraling all over the world. I'm really amazed at the stupidity of some humanity. Even though there were clearly man-eating monsters, they were still stupid to video them ending up dead in the process. Well, there were other smart ones who were using drones.

I held my head as I turned off my phone.

"What is this place? Tell me now, since everyone was untied now." This time Sia was already calm now. Though her crimson eyes were still glaring at me. And she was touching her scabbard from time to time.

{Hah. These lowly commoners still didn't know their place. How long will they intend to keep me here? Once I get off here, they will suffer worse than death.}

Based on their acts and thoughts, these were not simple grade eight syndrome behaviors. And the strength and skill of the Samurai Girl, ah her name was Sia, her skill in swords were not what someone could do if she was only acting or not. I should accept the fact for now that they came from another world. All of these shits were happening right now. So probably them coming from a different world might be true as well.

"This place is in the country of the Philippines," I said.

"Philippines?" Sia asked. "I haven't heard that kind of place in the entire Murim."

"This is just my speculation," I said, earning all their attention. "It must be that you all came from different worlds. And somehow for some strange reason ended up in my room, rather in my world."

"Hah, different world?! What nonsense are you talking about?" Edina, the one who yelled that she was the daughter of a duke or something said with haughtiness. "I demand you to return me to my estate this time! How dare you lowly commoners bring me to such a place!"

"Feel free to leave." Sia pointed to the door.

"I will do that!" Edina said as she stood up. But just when she held the doorknob, she couldn't open it no matter what. "What? Why can't I open this door?!"

"As you can see, when I tried to leave earlier, I can't open the door either. I tried even hitting it with my Phantom."

"Phantom?" The timid-looking guy, wearing a white cloak asked.

"The name of my sword..." Sia looked at him.

"Uriel, my name is Uriel." The white-cloaked guy said.

"This can't be happening?!" Edina burst into anger as she tried to do all methods to open the door.

So that was why she didn't go for herself to open the door.

"So this is a different world. That might explain the strange things here." The blue-haired guy swiped his hands in the air and the blue translucent screen appeared once again. "And the only way we can go out in this room is to survive for a month. Then we better do that if that is the only for all of us."

"You are rather calm about this," Sia asked as she pointed her sword towards him.

This girl seemed to love pointing her sword, every time she had the chance.

The blue-haired guy simply smiled. "Panicking will not do us anything good. So let's start first by introducing ourselves," he stood up, remaining unfazed despite the sword pointed at him. "I am Nathan Harrison, the duke of House Estevere. But you can simply call me Nathan since it seemed that my title would be meaningless now in this world. And I came from the world called Saztrel."

{Since I have nothing to do anymore. Maybe I can treat this as my vacation until I can find my way back.}

Ah, I'll pretend not to hear his thoughts. But that explained his manner of speech and the aristocratic aura oozing out him. He looked rather young to be a duke. It was quite surprising how he openly introduced himself about his status. Were the usual high-ranking nobles tend to hide their status.

"Tsk." Sia brought down her sword. "I came from the world Murim. And you probably know that I'm Sia."

Wow, she easily went on that. I thought she would cause more ruckus.

"Um then, I'm Uriel, an apprentice exorcist. I came from the world of Travis." Uriel said.

"So that's why you asked about my Phantom?" Sia asked.

"Yes, since phantoms are one of the malevolent spirits we hunt most of the time with my master."

{I've answered her question now. Why is she still looking at me? She's scarier than a ghost.}

If Sia could hear his thoughts, things might turn worse. I am glad that it was just thoughts.

"I just named my sword this way," Sia said. "But it has nothing to do with exorcism. How about you?" She looked at me once again.

"I am Roxanne Bright. I don't have any particular amazing titles like you guys. I'm just a normal fourth-year high school girl. And you probably know this is my dorm room based on those screens."

"High school?" Uriel asked.

"Hmm. Something like a student."

"You are a student? Despite looking like a commoner?" We all looked at Edina who haughtily went back to her seat after giving up opening the door. "Then does that mean you are a noble if you can afford to study?"

{Why can't I open that damn door?! Hah!}

Ah. My head was hurting to explain all of these to them. "In our world, everyone is allowed to study regardless of status. We don't have that sort of caste system like you probably have something in your world. Though we have the concept of rich and poor here."

"You don't have a status ranking? And how does the king rule his people if there are no nobles supporting him?" Nathan asked.

What a typical question for people who sometimes transfer to another world.

"People rise here, based on their skills and not of ranks. Be it the strangest skill or the most common skill, as long as you have skills, you'll be able to live in this world." I explained once again. "Well though there are different styles of government, in this country, we have something called democratic government style where the people voted for the next person who would rule the country."

Seriously, how come, we were talking about types of government now?

"The people vote for their ruler?" Edina scoffed. "What kind of absurdity is that?"

*Slam!*

I was going to open my mouth but we both looked at Sia who seemed getting irritated by our talk. "Enough about that, let's talk now on how we will be able to survive in a month in this room."

"Let's check first on the food supplies we have," I said as I stood up and headed to my kitchen. Strangely I felt so calm now from all of this. Was that skill 'Reality Acceptance'the reason why I am like this?

{What kind of food, would satisfy a noble like me in such a place like this?}

I should turn off this mind-reading skill for now. Mind reading off. I followed what the game-like system instructed and indeed work. I couldn't hear any sounds from them now.

I went to check my cupboard and brought out the can of food and biscuits. Seriously I'm quite happy that I tend to shop with food that would last me a month.

"What are these things?" Edina was fascinated holding a piece of a can of corn beef. The others also looked like some sort of curious children. Well, given their reaction, I guess everyone would be fascinated to see these things for the first time.

"Food," I simply said.

"Hmph." Edina brought the can down. "I didn't ask you."

I just shook my head then I headed to the fridge. And there were the two boxes of ice cream that I brought, some eggs, vegetables, fruits, and meat and fish.

While I tend to buy just some canned foods, biscuits, and noodles. My brother Ryle tended to buy these foods and told me to not simply eat canned foods and noodles.

"Don't go outside your room! I will come to look after..."

Ryle... I know you are a smart and strong person. So please survive no matter what.

"How come such coldness came out from this box?!" Uriel asked with amazement. I was surprised that he was already at my side enjoying the cold breeze coming out from the refrigerator.

Seriously there was an apocalypse happening outside, and yet I felt like I was just hanging out with some strangers here that could kill me anytime.
