Tit For Tat

"Hmph! That stupid know-it-all sister of mine. In the end, did she not lose her own bag and her best companion? Now that there is a new player in the field, she forgets her old teammate. How dare she ask me to go back when she had said seconds before that she did not want the team to break?" Chen Chen had been walking for an hour, tracing back his steps through the tunnel. The river, that had started to taper off was slowly coming back to its original thin position.

Chen Chen had not really explored any of the places alone. It was because he was always afraid that his ill intentions had already angered their ancestors enough and if he ever ventured alone, he would be devoured by the ancient spirits.

Which was why he had to always accompany Su Xin Yu. That girl was also adept in the arts of the traps, that information was somehow registered in her brain. Even if they would encounter any of the trap she would not readily know, it would still take her minutes to come with a counter plan. Not to mention she had trained herself enough in the forest to tackle any weapons coming out of these walls.

In that sense, he was useless. All he could do was use his chubby body to block a few of the harmless weapons. He had also gotten injured many times saving his sister's life. See? He was a useful person too.

"She could have at least come with me. Did that pretty boy not have a dog with him? He could have easily traveled alone. Thankfully, I had this plan in mind. It is good that I am going back. She would never know that I was the one who stole her bag," Chen Chen half sniggered half mumbled. Right now, he was quite scared.

If only he had not seen those riches that time in the lake. If the lake showed him that image, there should exist something like that in these caves for sure. Otherwise, why would he see something he had never seen before? Neither the place, nor the gold in it.

He sped up his steps, he needed to go back to the place where he had hidden Su Xin Yu's bag. "That Dean told me I had to do a thorough check of her bag. She might be hiding something she was not telling anyone. How many people he was going to send after her though? He had even sent his own son now."

Finally, he saw the light. "Hell, yeah," he celebrated, running towards the place where he had kept the bag.

At the time of explosion, he had already known where the bomb would land. That was why he was maintaining a distance. He even jumped to the opposite side of the spot to avoid getting trapped. He was indeed impacted but the person who had sent the bomb flying woke him up as soon as the dust settled.

The person had a mask on them, but from the silhouette, he could tell it was a girl. Why was that old man training all the girls to do his dirty work? There was Su Xin Yu and then there was this person. Anyhow, it did not matter to him. All he had to do was rummage through her bag.

And he would have easily succeeded if that bloody Dean's son had not woken up soon. Not to mention that dog. He had noticed her from far away much earlier. How could he not, with those eyes shining in the dark? But he had no idea that the dog was also Li Ming Hao's.

He was left with no choice but to hide the bag at a place they would not discover. He went ahead and threw it on the opposite side of the thin stream. Those two were so occupied with their injuries and then that dog, that they did not even suspect that the bag would have moved like that.

"You still are such a naïve girl Su Xin Yu. I will fool you however much I can. It's so easy, you are still a kid after all," Chen Chen laughed to himself, a sinister smile spreading across his face.

He was loyal to the Dean, not his sister. He only worked for money. And he knew he won't be disappointed if he kept his association with that Dean. What did this girl know? Nothing!

"Hmph! You don't trust me enough to tell what you discuss with that guy, so why should I help you out? You even threw me out of the group. Serves you right!" Chen Chen clenched his jaw tightly. This Dean did not plan at all when he was sending his own son.

Chen Chen still could not understand the strategy behind. If he needed to bring Su Xin Yu into Li family by marrying Li Ming Hao, then there was no need for the guy to even be present. He could just have ordered it and she would have to obey it.

Then, what was the reason? How did it matter to him anyway?

He went through her bag one by one. Clothes, medicines, explosives, dried food, she had everything. There were even sports drinks packed.

"That b*tch, why would she bring all this stuff, just to make bags heavy? She asked us to remove everything like this and filled our bags with dried food and bandages. She had kept all the important stuff to herself," Chen Chen grumbled once again.

How would he know that she really never planned to get separated from one another and thus, had distributed everything to the three bags?

"What the f*ck is this?" he took out a few different types of knives from the bottom of the bag.

"Shuriken? Like those ninjas in the movies? What else? Oh damn! A gun? Who got her the license?" he was astonished to find the variety of weapons this girl carried. He had no idea she was trained in gun operation as well. And all these weird looking knives, what use did she have of those? They had never had a need to even take it out.

But Dean Li had said that she explored the dungeons more than she let on. Wasn't he searching for evidence against her? That's why her own brother had to do such a dubious deed. But again, Chen Chen did not feel guilty at all. It was her punishment for abandoning him.

He would never admit his own fault for using the tree's branch. It could as well have been a holy tree. But in Chen Chen's eyes, he was always right.

He tossed out the things one by one.

"Damn it, nothing of value. I could take the gun to him but he must be the one to have bought it for her in the first place," Chen Chen spat on the floor and the weapons on the floor. He wanted to strangle that girl, he was so furious. He even betrayed her and there was nothing he could show that old bastard for his effort. Was the girl so cunning that she had hidden stuff somewhere else?

He flipped the bag upside down and shook it violently, in case something came out.

"Clang," a sound came from beside him, like some remaining weapon had falling out of the bag, striking some other metal piece. He did not even look at it as he thought it was just one metal piece falling over another. He did not see it was actually a hidden lever in the ground. In the end, he experienced the same fate as Su Xin Yu and Li Ming Hao and dropped into a ditch.
