The Battles
Ash finished his registration and made his way to the other side, as he entered the other side Lynx immediately tapped his shoulder which surprised him a bit. Lynx didn't venture out much and waited at the passage for Ash since he didn't understand the system. Ash walked off and Lynx followed closely, they walked out along the way and was greeted with the other applicants from earlier. They were all standing around engaged in their conversations when a voice spoke.
"Now you all will start your exam at exactly 8:30 am. To pass the combat exam you'll need a raise of three hands, each hand is valued thirty (30) points and if you receive more than three you're doing very well. Even if you get less than three hands you can try your best to make it up in the written exam. Now a number will appear on your armband, when you receive your number please proceed to the designated Spaceship that will take you to your exam area, Thank you" a familiar voice said over speakers.
Soon a "ding" was heard everywhere that flooded the area and everyone looked at their armband. Friends were separated and a few lucky ones stayed together and among those lucky people were Ash and Lynx who would take the exam at the same place. There were Two Hundred spaceships and a Hundred examinees in each. The spaceship were blue and silver in color and had enough space for a hundred people. All the examinees boarded the spaceships in an orderly manner and then they flew off into multiple directions. It only took about a minute and the Spaceship Lynx and Ash was in came to a stop, they all step out of the spaceship one after the other and stepped onto a holographic platform. They were slightly amazed as they looked around there surrounding and saw nothing but the blue sky and clouds and above them were seven people on a small platform that provide a chair and a table that hovered above and a man who was on the opposite side from the seven people. The platform was a flat greenish surface and a hundred square looking seats for the examinees to sit on.
"I extend another welcome to you all" a man said over a microphone. "With that said let's begin. We do not choose who you fight, your name is simply generated and selected by the system which randomly matches you with someone, we do not use class, grades or status in the system only your name is being used".
"With all that said first up Hally Brown and Shane Mitch, now step forward to the middle of the platform"
The examinees heard there names and followed instructions as they walked forward to face their opponent.
"A girl" Shane said in a complaining voice
As they walked to the middle a barrier rose around the fighting space that was transparent for those on the outside to watch. Hush conversations could be heard as the first fight was about to begin. They were then told to shake hands and walk back to their fighting stands which was a circular shape that was displayed on the ground. Before they started the man spoke again and listed the rules,
"The rules for the exam are Not to kill anyone, do not take on a full transformation, if your opponent submits or they are pinned down for three seconds, or goes unconscious you will be proclaimed as winner, but no heavy damages were to be done to your opponent in other words actions like dismembering limbs and breaking multiple bones" the assessor said over the mike.
"Fight!"
Shane wasn't very trilled about fighting a girl so he didn't plan on going all out, he just wanted get it over with quickly and he dashed forward to get in close and pinned her to the ground with a hand behind her back and pressed his knee in her back as he applied force so she wouldn't struggle free. He then waited as the three seconds ran out.
"3…2…1!"
Time ran out as a "beep" sound rang out which signaled the match ended and Shane released her, Hally was disappointed as she didn't even do anything, the match was over in less than a minute which was a surprise to many as the match didn't have any action. Shane bowed his head slightly towards her as they finished the match, his name was called and he received a raise of three hands as the judges liked how he was swift and could finish his match without using his ability, but others thought he should have at least taken a minute to showcase his strength. Hally's name was followed after Shane's and as expected no hands rose for her. They then walked off the fighting ground as the barrier lowered and Shane armband received the notification that showed he passed and Hally notification showed she failed. When hands were rose for Shane the other examinees who were watching were in awes as he was the first to pass and he was so quick. The judges that were grading were all of class and people from the middle and lower class couldn't help but hype themselves up to make a good impression.
Battles started and ended one after the other as time went by and everyone tried their best to pass the exam, they were hands of two, ones and even zeros. Soon the exam was more than half way completed as Sixty-two examinees completed the exam and now it was Lynx's turn.
"Will White and Lynx Ro" the man spoke as he tried to pronounce Lynx's name. Both boys stepped forward as the barrier rose behind them. Will was looking towards his turn to fight, but when he saw his opponent he was dissatisfied.
"He's so flimsy, I can't show any moves with someone so puny" Will said as he looked Lynx up and down and the other applicant started laughing.
"Hey boss man change my opponent" Will said as he waved to the assessor to get his attention, but the assessor said he couldn't do that and Will simply sighed. They walked up to one another and shook hands and as they were doing so Will gripped Lynx's hand and spoke,
"I should be happy you're weaker than me" he said with a sly smirk before he released Lynx's hand and walked back to his stand.
"Fight!"
Will charged in and formed armor over is hand that had a metal look to it and punched Lynx to the other end. Lynx couldn't concentrate as he tried to cover parts of his body with armor. Will then ran up to him and hit him as he was sent tumbling until he hit into the barrier again. Lynx couldn't do anything as he took hits one after the other and Will was using him as a punch bag and an opportunity to flex his strength. After three minutes passed Will grew tired of hitting someone who didn't back and he was slightly surprised that his opponent hadn't passed out yet, but nonetheless he wanted Lynx to hit back and so he started mocking him and the others on the outside joined in and agreed with each other that their match was lame.
"Can't you hit back? They're laughing as us" Will shouted mockingly across the battlefield to Lynx and walked closer. As Will got closer he finally noticed something he wasn't sensing any Core power from Lynx which caused him to off out loud, the others observing the match couldn't help but wondered why was he laughing.
"Is this a joke? I can't even sense your Core power, this is crazy" Will laughed as he held his head. Those on the outside who heard started chattering amongst one another and laughed as they thought the situation was crazy and a joke. Will had about a minute and few seconds before his time ran out so he needed to end the match so he stopped laughing and was ready to finish the match.
"You know what because I'm such a nice guy I'll give you three seconds to power up, this matchup was unfair anyway. What you say?" Will spoke in a taunting voice.
Will indeed kept his word as he waited for three seconds to pass as his opponent could power up, Lynx stood there as he was forcing his body to activate his armor unlike others who could do it without struggling. As Lynx stood there and tried to activate his armor it started to appear over his arm but it would deactivate immediately, unlike normal people who had a bright shiny armor that would cover their body, Lynx's armor was a lot different as it had a rusty dull cooler and would fall of his body before disappearing. Everyone watched in disbelief and bewildered as they watched the site before them even Ash was on edge as he watched closely and everyone was in silence as the only sound that could be heard was the armor from Lynx who was trying to activate his armor, Will only stood there in place and confusion as the three seconds passed. Everyone was in silence and then a loud laugh broke the silence and everyone looked above to see who was laughing and everyone was taken aback as the person who was laughing was none other than Trigan Laung.
