66 Losing Your Mind

When the first strand of deconstructed energy started to flow inside his mouth, Darkscale's entire body vibrated.

Not from pain, but from pleasure.

Contrary to the normal Ghost Energy, only a part of this dark colored energy one was guided by his Heavenly Battleground Technique towards the snake's Natural Heart. The remaining part traveled towards his blood and fused with it. His veins then pumped the energy to every corner of his body.

While Devassa was screaming at him that he will die as a consequence of absorbing that power, the snake felt exactly like the day he first used the Pretorian's Breath.

He could feel the changes in his own flesh, the strength in his muscles, the unresting power that was growing inside them. He stopped using the Breath, and the large vortex before him disappeared into nothing.

Not controlled by his Will Manipulation, the rune under his body stopped shining and the energy that composed it started to dissipate into thin air.

Darkscale, didn't even notice that, his whole focus was on the internal status of his body. It was like an unstoppable tide wave had exploded inside of him, but instead of destroying everything in its way it was strengthening it. It made it better, remolding it to be charged with even more might.

The wave of power came from the energy he just absorbed, and started to make his body and his eyes shine with a deep violet light.

Darkscale tossed his head behind and screamed. From his mouth came out a thundering roar, like that of a majestic tiger. It was way stronger than the ones he had previously, this time it was charged with might and had a clear effect on the area around him: the sound caused the still air to crack, forming strange violet vein patterns on the air.

Devassa, which was fuming not too much far from him, was hit by a powerful pressure that came from the black snake and her eyes widened in shock.

"Bloodline user? How?"

The violet serpent couldn't believe it: the serpent before her was clearly a random rogue cultivator, he definitely didn't belong to any big clan. He just lucked out finding an incredible cultivation manual, that's why he got so far. How in hell was he also a bloodline user?

Moreover, how much good luck must one have to be guided directly to a tomb full of opportunity for your own bloodline? Too much! However, it was this that happened to Darkscale just now!

Maybe that's why he didn't move when she asked him to! He wanted to absorb the bloodline power that was left inside that ghost!

"Damn you, devious greedy devil!" cursed the serpent, fighting hard to keep herself in the same place under the pressure generated by the black snake.

Winter Leaf, on the contrary, had been long ago sent flying away. She crashed on a large rock, breaking her leg and starting wailing in pain for a few moments before losing completely her senses.

While Devassa was thinking on what to do now that she had discovered that the black snake was able to absorb the ghosts present in the tomb, the latter was going through even more great changes.

He closed his eyes for a second, and when he opened them back, the violet in his eyes was way deeper than before. He moved his head around himself, and saw a world completely different.

The cave seemed more lit up, the details on the rocks and cadavers were more evident, sharper. It was easier to see around.

Now he also could remember information about the plants and bodies that laid all around, information that he clearly didn't know before.

That wasn't simply a luminescent mushroom, it was an herb used to help heal old scars. That one wasn't just a random skeleton, it was clearly the remains of an adult Demonic Sparrow. That rock looked like a simple white formation, but it was clearly Candide Crystal, a very rare material used to cultivate earth elements.

Thousands of information popped up in the snake's mind, informing him of the various things he had around him.

Suddenly, Darkscale saw a grey light flying toward his side and easily sidestepped it. The grey light continued its curse until it found a large rock, where it crashed leaving a hideous scar on the hard surface. Darkscale looked toward the origin of the attack and saw a surprised Devassa.

"Mph"

The mounting energy inside of him, exploded in a wave of anger. "You dare?" The snake immediately attacked back, darting towards the snake without even considering the reason behind the attack that he just suffered.

Devassa panicked when she realized that trying to get rid of him had been a bad idea: the snake seemed to have gone through some great change! His reaction times were way better than the first time they clashed and even his speed was absolutely higher.

When she saw that he was having some reaction to absorbing the insect from before she immediately decided that she needed to get rid of him. If he stayed there instead of going to look for the core he would take out all those succulent walking agglomerate of negative energy.

She needed them. She couldn't let him stay alive. Seeing that he wasn't paying attention, she attacked him, but she highly underestimated him. The change that he had gone through was incredible.

He was too fast. She couldn't manage to avoid his strikes. Devassa was hit by a slap of the black snake's tail and she crashed to the hard ground pushed by the immense force behind the hit. A fog on blood emerged from her mouth while she lamented in pain.

Not too much long ago the two cultivators had been almost on the same level of strength, but now Darkscale absolutely dominated over her. It wasn't even close. She barely managed to see him moving.

An angry sound came out from Darkscale's mouth, while he darted toward the fallen violet serpent.

He hit her again and again, each strike was delivered with more violence. The violet light around his body became more and more vivid as he attacked. His normal calm and contain countenance morphed in a devious furious expression.

The energy that seethed inside his body seemed to generate even more anger, even more need for violence. He soon forgot even why he was attacking the violet snake. He just knew that he had to do it, he had to kill her.

After taking a long beating, the violet serpent couldn't help but vomited a large amount of dark blood on the ground. When he sensed the odor of blood, Darkscale's reason slipped away even more.

Roaring like a beast, he literally bit the body of Devassa, trying to chew her flesh.

The Buddhist Cultivator widened her eyes in shock and terror at the action of the black snake. Panicking, she started summoning large amounts of energy and pushed it towards Darkscale. He was sent away by the grey energy, undamaged and even more furious.

Devassa was completely lost: not only the black serpent had become way stronger than before, she couldn't tell what had happened! He clearly didn't advance in rank, or the radiation that he emanated would have changed considerably, but at the same time there was something strange about him now.

There was a ferocity in his attack, especially the last one, that scared even her. His eyes didn't look at her like an enemy, they looked at her as a prey! She felt that he wanted to... eat her.
