"We are late sir."
"No worries, the king asked for additional advice about the ýuengs(baby turnips.)" The royal advisor said, as he made his way into the courtroom where he was denied access.
"You can't go in sir." A royal guard that blocked his path.
"How dare you?!" Venus asked.
"This is a secret meeting, and you are not allowed in sir." The royal guard replied exasperated. "It's his highness Zagaroth's order."
"Zagaroth never ceases to amaze me." The royal advisor laughed. "I guess we'll have to wait then." He added as he adjusted his tunic.
"But dad..."
"It's okay Venus, we'll wait. He did tell me he'll show me his worth." The royal advisor said as he gritted his teeth. Turning around, he looked at his son and guards.
He smiled reminiscing over an incident that occurred earlier that week...
The royal advisor was kept in charge of investigating the 7 golden dragon scrolls, that vanished mysteriously from Yyueh treasury.
"I have a suggestion, if it pleases his highness?" The royal advisor asked.
The king did not answer.
"Let's hear it." He said after some time.
"Sire, I don't think the treasurer should be held captive for this, as there are no signs of breakage." The royal advisor said, looking from face to face in the courtroom. "The fault lies with our security." He continued, "There had been some attack recently on..."
"What are you implying?!" Hogalbar yelled, and his muscles stiffened.
"Hogalbar, compose. Control yourself." Zagaroth whispered squeezing hogalbar's arm. "Let the poor man speak while he still can."
"We need to tighten security." The royal advisor added. Not paying any attention to hogalbar's words. "The enemy is definitely within."
The king nodded in affirmation.
"I want the the major, colonel, general and marshal dismissed right away." The king ordered.
"No! Please your majesty." Hogalbar fell at the king's feet, his hands touching the throne. " No! Sire! Please don't do away with me. I have failed you, your highness. Punish me with death! But don't push me away. Give me a second chance your majesty." He pleaded.
The king had to forgive hogalbar for Zagaroth's sake.
"You may rise, the general is suspended till further notice. But, do away with the others." The king announced. "Begin recruitment immediately!"
"I apologise for any inconveniences sire." Zagaroth said with no remorse, only rage was written over his face.
The king left.
"Smart move oh! Royal advisor." Zagaroth added with a smile. "You made my general beg for his job."
"A man playing chess should always be conscience of his opponent's next move!" The royal advisor replied.
"Astounding! A man should never underestimate his enemy's strength, even if his enemy is weak. I'll show you my worth." Zagaroth said with his usual creepy smile. "Hogalbar, shall we?"
Hogalbar glared at the royal advisor with vengeful eyes before leaving...
The meeting was over. Noble men and chiefs started leaving the courtroom.
"Make way! Make way!! The great Zagaroth is leaving the courtroom. Make way.
"Oh!" Zagaroth gave a fake gasp upon seeing the royal advisor." Oh! My my what is the beloved royal advisor doing out here all alone? Instead of being by his king's side?"
"Wondering what the chief of defence is doing in a courtroom, instead of being on the training ground." The royal advisor replied cockily.
"You know, I do admire your courage."
"And I do admire how you keep your word. You showed me your worth."
The royal advisor's words made Zagaroth broke into laughter.
"Real men don't talk about the past." Zagaroth began. "It's erroneous belief that speaking about the past, gives arsenel to your enemies to gun you down."
"Quite true. We'd rather bury the chronicles."
