Chapter 94 -- Saved

Zane heard the sound and felt the vibrations, however surprisingly, he didn't feel any pain. Pain might not affect Zane anymore, but he still felt it.

So he was surprised not to feel anything, he then slowly opened his eyes and the first thing he saw was the back of someone. If the person's curves where anything to go by it was a woman.

Zane raised his head and caught the sight of his saviour's short hair fluttering in the wind. She slowly turned her head..... actually she didn't SLOWLY turn her head, Zane was just seeing everything in slow motion.

"Are you okay?" her sweet voice resonated in his head, soothing his mind with its melodious melody.

"Thanks to you i am, instructor Bella" he smiled after snapping out of his daze. Bella nodded and turned around to look at David's team.

Zane glanced at his sides and noticed that in front of each of his friends was a Mage, he recognized the statures of these Mages. They were none other than the instructors from Old man's place.

Each instructor stood in front of his or her student. Charlotte was now beside Zane, which surprised him because he remembered heroically shielding her with his body.

Peeking from behind Bella's back, Zane saw a thin wall made of wind mana. The wind came from Bella's feet and rose four meters into the air.

Zane also noticed that the other instructors had protected their students in the same way with their respective elements.

He couldn't even put into words how relieved he was. Zane wasn't that afraid of dying, worst case scenario, Aurora would send him to a magic-less planet as a cripple.

What he was afraid of was Charlotte dying because of him, he wouldn't be able to live with himself in his next life if she died for him.....Ken and Kieth too of course.

On the other side of the field, David stared at the new arrivals with narrowed eyes. Surprisingly all four of the Mages who came to protect Zane were in the fifth rank of the Mage realm.

David wondered how Zane could get people this powerful to protect him. Then he remembered that Zane wasn't the person they thought he was so he didn't really know his capabilities.

Since David was in the sixth rank, he was stronger than everyone there, however his team wasn't. Clara and Adam were both in the fourth rank while Chris couldn't even be counted.

David knew that if a battle broke out, he would easily win his fight but he would lose the battle. He really wanted Zane, but he couldn't sacrifice his team for his revenge. Well maybe he could sacrifice Chris though.

"We don't want to fight you!" David took a step forward and shouted.

The Mage who was standing in front of Ken also took a step forward, he was surprisingly a short man with a bald head and large robes. His figure reminded Zane of a monk.

"Are you stupid?, of course you can't fight us in the city" the man said with his arms folded. David didn't like being called stupid. He gritted his teeth and barely managed to control his anger.

"We just want Zane" David said after calming down.

"That's impossible, Zane is important to me" Bella said. David's team opened their eyes wide in surprise. Since Bella didn't clarify, they obviously got the wrong idea.

"Do you know who i am?" David threatened. He thought maybe these Mages didn't know him. However even if they didn't know him personally they should know of him.

"No we don't but just give me a sec" Bella said before she looked behind her.

"Who is he?" She asked Zane.

"David" Zane answered with a shrug. Bella nodded before turning to face David and his group.

"You are David" she shrugged "Goodbye"

David could feel his blood boiling, it seemed these people didn't care whether he was the strongest hunter or not. They even started walking away!.

David had a good mind to attack them from behind but from the corner of his eye he noticed the guards still watching from afar.

He knew that as soon as he attacks, those guards will call for backup and the best case scenario would be him losing his hunting license.

"Never walk alone and never leave the city Zane!" David shouted, to which Zane just waved without even looking back.

Zane was angry and disappointed that he would never work with David and the others ever again, however he didn't really care for it.

All he wanted now was to kill Chris one day. He was however happy that Chris' lies saved him from being chased by more powerful people.

For example, if Chris didn't lie about Zane being blind or not, then the powerhouses of the city would track him down to question him about how he can see mana.

There was even a chance that some knowledgeable powerful families might capture him to find out what will happen when he breaks through, after all he didn't have an element, but thanks to Chris, everyone thinks he actually has the elusive lightning element.

Powerful families might still try to recruit him for his lightning element but it was better than to have someone as knowledgeable as Old man capture him. Zane still remembers how happy Old man was to find that he didn't have an element.

Zane decided that since Chris gave him an identity, he wouldn't deny it and would just roll with it.

He really wondered what lie Chris told to make David that determined to kill him. He knew it couldn't be because the 'lied' to them. There was definitely something else.

Zane also remembers David talking about a certain plan that Zane wanted to execute against them. However none of that mattered anymore, David's team was now Zane's enemy and that wouldn't change.

Even if Zane somehow cleared up all the misunderstanding, David had tried to kill him and almost succeeded. Zane might be a good person at heart but he couldn't forgive someone who tried to kill him.

'The problem is that he told people about my inventory' Zane thought.

<<That's easy, you can just say swallowed a storage ring when were baby>> Alex said.

'That's.... actually not a bad idea' Zane nodded.

"See!" he suddenly heard Bella whisper to the others and he looked up to see everyone staring at him.

"What?" he asked.

"Nothing" Bella said and everyone else pretend like they were looking at the sky for some reason.

"How did you guys find us?" Zane asked his instructor.

"Well it turns out you are famous young man" Ken's instructor said. Zane remembered his name being Buck.

"Me!?" Zane was surprised to be called famous, he didn't really recall doing something that would make him famous lately.

"Yes you, and your fame is putting our students in danger" Damian said. He was Kieth's instructor and he had an average build like any other man. Zane wouldn't recognize him if he didn't speak.

"But how am i famous?" Zane asked perplexed.

"My student might have put yours in danger but you have to admit he got guts" Bella laughed, clearly proud of Zane.

"Well if those guts of his get Ken killed you will pay me what's due as first place" Buck retorted.

"Huh and what gives you the right to think Ken would win anyway, have you forgotten that Kieth is also in this competition?" Damian scoffed.

Zane couldn't believe that he was ignored that easily, in the end he and the other mortals slowed down a little bit to give the instructors space to argue.
