Chapter 78 -- Extreme fear = intelligence

Somewhere on a distant planet. A beautiful girl was sitting on a large golden throne watching a crystal orb.

The orb showed the picture of a man lying helplessly on the ground. The man was missing an arm and a leg. On top of this man was a lion, it's mouth open, ready to devour the head of the man in one bite.

Of course the beautiful girl was Aurora.

SHING!

Someone else suddenly appeared in the room. Aurora wasn't at all startled by the arrival of this man, it seemed she was expecting him.

"What is it? you called me here just a few minutes ago." The man complained.

"Those few minutes for us are two months on Gyra Earth" Aurora said.

"Gyra Earth?, ohh right. Wait don't tell me that human has done something else again" Xander said fearfully.

They had escaped the wrath of the Supreme Deity the last time, which was about a minute ago. However the Supreme Deity wouldn't let them off easy a second time.

Xander feared that Zane had done something else that would land him and Aurora in serious trouble, he was still enjoying his eternal life, he didn't want it to end anytime soon.

"No he hasn't done anything" Aurora said.

Xander sighed in relief, however he them recalled that Aurora called her for a reason. She knew better than to disturb a celestial.

He was about to ask the reason for Aurora's call when he noticed that she was focused on her vision orb.

All Celestial's could see what was happening on any of their planets anytime by just closing their eyes and concentrating.

However when a Celestial wants to see the finer details or to intervene in some events, they use vision orbs. This was the first time in a million years for Aurora to use hers so Xander was curious as to what she was watching.

Teleporting to her side, he saw the image of a man about to be eaten by a lion. Surprisingly, the lion was in the same position after 5 more seconds, which could only mean one thing.

"You stopped the whole planet's time?" Xander asked in confusion.

"No i just stopped time for that beast as well as all the beasts in a hundred meter radius. The man is unconscious." Aurora said not taking her eyes from the orb.

"Who is he?" Xander asked. Obviously talking about the man.

"Zane's father" Aurora replied.

"Who the fuck is Z--" Xander suddenly stopped as his eyes opened wide. There was no way for Aurora to know the names of all her humans.

Only the really special humans who needed to be watched could be remembered by Aurora or any Celestial for that matter.

"What are you waiting for?, save him!" Xander stressed. He couldn't believe that Aurora was thinking about something so obvious.

"That's why I called you over, My instincts tell me to save him, but why?" Aurora asked, taking her eyes of the orb for the first time.

"Aurora, Zane is obviously not normal, we already know that. The death of his father might make him feel like he wasn't strong enough to save him. Then he will try to raise his power even more" Xander spoke.

"You took away his sight and he gained Body Cultivation, what do you think he will do when you take away his family. You can't control this one Aurora" Xander finished.

Xander then chuckled wryly "So do you think you can handle him if he starts Cultivating the spirit?" he asked.

Aurora shuddered at that thought. With three centers of power, Zane wouldn't only ascend, he would also gain the power to even replace Aurora as the human celestial!.

Even though the chance of that happening was below 1 percent, Aurora couldn't risk it. So she had to make sure that no tragedy befalls Zane until he ascends. Then Aurora could kill him after his ascension.

"I don't have enough energy anymore. I will give you access" Aurora said and she waved her hand. Xander nodded and closed his eyes before disappearing in a flash of light.

Back at the forest, the lion had just finished munching on two of Owen's limbs and was about to go for the main course.

However, the lion suddenly stopped and looked up. That's when it got the fright it's entire life. Every bone in it's body shook and it immediately urinated itself.

It wanted to move away from the figure in front of it but couldn't move, the fear overwhelmed all it's senses. Unconsciously it formed rational thoughts for the first time 'No, no it can't be, it's not there, no i don't want to die, no, no.' Well.... almost rational thoughts.

"Yeah, remember that feeling beast, that is the feeling of seeing a vampire. You are the only being on this universe to ever see me, consider yourself lucky, Now scram" Xander casually said.

The lion didn't need to hear that twice as it bolted for the forest as fast as it could. It was even surprised itself that it could make rational decisions and think. That wasn't instinct, it was pure fear which manifested into intelligence.

Xander disappeared as soon as the lion ran, he didn't want the other lions, which followed the mana beast up the mountain, to see him. That would be death at first sight.

A couple of kilometers away.

"Stop!" William shouted, he had noticed a while ago that the mana beast and the other lions weren't following them anymore. He immediately knew that Owen was successful.

The others upon hearing William call to them didn't stop at first, that was because Owen told them to run and between William and Owen they preferred listening to Owen.

However when the man at the back of the group glanced behind him, he noticed that Owen wasn't following them anymore.

"Where's Owen!?." the man shouted to William.

His question got the attention of the whole group and they all glanced behind them. Slowly everyone decreased their running speed until they came to a stop.

"Where's Owen?" the man repeated, staring daggers into William, he wouldn't be surprised to hear that William sacrificed Owen to the lions.

"I didn't kill him!, if i did the beast wouldn't take a few seconds to devour him, it would be running after us even now!. Owen led the beast away so that we could escape." William explained.

The villagers immediately believed William, what he said made sense, if William had sacrificed Owen, the lions would still be after them, but they were nowhere to be seen even after the group stopped moving.

"We go back for his body" One of the men said.

"If we find that beast there, Owen's sacrifice will be in vain. Without us, what do you think will happen to our village?" Another one said.

"Me and three others will go, the rest of you stay here, if we don't come back in a day, go back to the village" William ordered.

Without even waiting to hear the reactions of the group, he started walking, with three others following him.

"That's when we found his body like that" the man finished his tragic tale.
