Chapter 111 -- Zane Willer

With a scrunched up nose, Old man waved his hands and the earth underneath the pool of blood opened up, swallowing the reason for his unsightly expression.

Coughing a few times, Zane stood up and quickly removed his clothes. He was quite annoyed because his favorite outfit was ruined, but then again he didn't think he would need it again when he was about to die.

After stripping down, zane used the clean parts of his clothes to wipe the blood off his neck and chest before summoning another outfit from his ring. This time the outfit consisted of a white shirt and grey trousers.

When he was done, Zane sat on his seat and crossed his arms, staring at Charles and Old man, who were still surprised that the man who was on deaths door a couple seconds ago was fine, except for his pale complexion due to the major blood loss.

"I'm listening" Zane said with a smile. He didn't want to admit it, but he was quite relieved that he didn't need to go through with his suicide.

A quick check on his system had also shown that Alex was still offline. 'Hopefully he'll come back soon' Zane thought. Life would definitely get a little harder without the voice in his head.

'This kid doesn't want to stop amazing me' Charles thought while looking at Zane. He had to admit that Zane's little stunt impressed him greatly.

"You really got some guts kid" Charles chuckled.

"Thank you, i will take that as a compliment" Zane said. He was very proud of his work.

"What do you want?" Charles asked after recovering from Zane's confident and nonchalant attitude. He was ready to lose a lot of money and resources just to get Zane on his side without force.

Charles obviously wanted Zane because his talent was potentially infinite. However another reason he was dead set on getting him was that he didn't want to be Zane's enemy in the future.

The Willer family, due to the fact that it came from the Willow family, the two weren't on good terms. Charles might be called a subsidiary of the Willow family but he didn't really act like one, which infuriated the ruling family.

Charles was absolutely sure that one way or another, if Zane didn't join the Willer family, he would join the Willow family.

If the Willow family got a future mage as powerful as Zane, they would cement their position as the hegemon of the City.

Although the Willow family was publicly known as the strongest, that wasn't precisely true. There were a lot of other noble families with power rivaling the Willow family, however the ruling family was rich, and money could buy mages.

Charles had also heard that Zane had the lightning element. That alone made him a force to be reckoned with, a one man army. The ruling family (Willow) already had a one man army. Them gaining Zane would be overkill.

'Lightning element, speed and strength rivaling a Mage, unbelievable self healing and impressive healing capabilities, i can't let the others families get this complete package' Charles thought.

"I want you to leave me alone" Zane answered resolutely. Even though he was prepared for a similar answer, Charles sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose.

"That can't happen Zane" he said softly. The cold expression on Zane's face didn't change, however a knife suddenly appeared and rested on his knee.

Seeing the knife, Old man and Charles' eyes opened wide. The reason not being that they were afraid of Zane pulling his stunt again.

It must be noted that Zane was sitted in a relaxed manner with his fingers interlocked and resting on his lap.

The reason the two High Mages were shocked is that Zane managed to summon the knife a few inches from his hands. Everyone knew that when taking something out of a storage ring the object will appear exactly were the storage artifact is.

Most storage artifacts are rings, which people wear on their fingers, which is why objects always appear on the person's palm.

It would need a great amount of mana sensitivity to be able to control were objects taken from storage artifacts appear. Mana sensitivity which was only found in Mages at least in the fifth rank.

"Zane you don't understand I need you to join my family" Charles stressed. He decided to let the issue of the storage ring go since there were more stressing matters at hand.

Zane furrowed his brows "Why do you need me?" he asked. He never thought they needed him, he was under the impression that they only wanted him

"I can't tell you that without you being under the oath of the family" Charles explained. Of course Zane's curious nature kicked in, but he successfully suppressed it this time.

"First i want to be released when i am ready to break through into the Supreme Mage realm" Zane started the negotiation.

Charles immediately nodded to his request.

"Second, I don't want to be suppressed in any way, if i spend a full year in the same rank I will kill myself" Zane stated the second condition.

Charles nodded.

"Third i want to be free to go wherever i want, whenever i want"

Charles narrowed his eyes "You can't go too far away from the city, we will need you once in a while after all. And before you reach the fifth rank of the Mage realm, you will be accompanied if you venture outside the city" he said.

Zane thought about it and not seeing a problem, nodded.

"Fourth, i want 300 gold coins as compensation for me joining you" Zane said.

Charles mouth twitched, three hundred gold was a lot of money, even for a high ranking noble family like his, however it was still worth it to get Zane, so he nodded.

"Lastly i want a 10 mana cores, five of which are in the second grade" Zane stated his last demand, he was really disappointed not to get into a heated negotiation, he didn't expect for Charles to accept all his demands.

Charles cracked a smile before straight out laughing "You do know that grade two mana cores are what we High Mages use to advance right?" he said.

"Yes i do" Zane answered.

"I will give you ten grade one mana cores, is there anything else?" Charles stated before asking.

"No i think that's it" Zane sighed.

"Good then. Let's go home Zane" Charles said as he stood up.

"My name is Zane Willer for your information" Zane smirked before standing up, only to stumble and fall, he had lost too much blood and was incredibly weak.
