CHAPTER 3 - INNER CITY

Not even five minutes later they heard a roar coming from beneath the water, it was an ocean behemoth, they were lucky that they had stopped swimming or else they would've been seriously injured.

Just the sound roar from underneath the water was damaging their ears making and their bodies feel weak, what would've happened if the were still in the waters.

"Everyone get up and run in the direction of the city" one of the men shouted as they stayed behind to make sure everyone left.

Immediately everyone took off, they had been trained how to respond in these scenarios already.

The two men followed them running as they didn't even want to wait for the monster to come out of the ocean.

They jumped rocks, claimed trees, swinged on vines to quickly get back. The forest was gradually thinning out as they began to see the tall walls that covered their city.

Roooaaaaaarrrrr

This time the roar was heard loudly, the monster had finally come ashore.

Daniel, Micheal, Duke, Ava and some other children turned to look at the beach. They could see the beach clearly although it was far away due to elevated grounds, where they were living was untop a hill.

They saw the monster slowly come ashore, it had the facial structure of a human with tentacles-like hair, it had four arms one like humans but with webbed fingers the other two were tentacles, it had no legs just six long tentacles.

It was blue in color, and it looked hurt in a part of its shoulder, its bones were showing like it was about to fall off.

As we stared at the wound we wondered, what could create such devastating wounds in that terrifying way, just this monster was large enough to almost fill the beach, It looked just like a terrifying predator at sight and something else could damage it to this degree.

"Our ancestors were lucky to survive their journey in the ocean" they collectively thought.

They continued running until they got to the walls of the city.

The walls guarding the city were large, with posts on top for archers to shoot any incoming monsters.

Daniel looked at the post remembering his recent lifestyle, he was still shaken by the monster he saw on the beach but that didn't matter that much to him because he was gradually believing what he saw that day was true.

The gates were as large as the walls with a smaller gate at the side, they made the gate that large to carry corpses of large monsters into the city.

As the guards saw them rushing to the gate they went to open it quickly, and they all saw the monster that came ashore, Its blood might have attracted different monsters to the beach already and they didn't want to lose anyone in the process.

As they entered the city a putrid smell of wet kid and garbage assaulted their noses.

"Did the city lord not tell people to stop throwing their garbage out on the streets" the children and elders commented as the bad smell of garbage continued to assault them.

He even created a place where trash should be thrown in the back of the city, so why are they still throwing their garbage on the streets?

As they walked through the streets going to the inner city, there were shops all around people set up tents to display their goods for sale.

Toys, foodstuffs, meat, vegetables, and other stuff were placed on their tables to sell, some shops even had weapons and armor for sale.

They looked around as it had been a long time since they came to the outer city, some of them lived here before but once they showed their talent in training or were picked for some of their help in researches and blacksmith or herbalist, they were taken into the inner city.

Daniel lived here until two months ago when an incident happened and he was healed.

As they walked past, people extended their greetings towards them. All of them in the group were known as geniuses in their respective fields, from creating weapons to dealing with herbs to fighting and so on.

Soon enough they got to the gate for the inner city, the guards saw them and greeted the two men behind guarding them, they got into the inner city and they were relieved.

The bad smell of garbage was gone, and the streets were tiled with bricks for easy passing of carriages. The houses around looked beautiful, there weren't people outside who set up tents to sell goods, and people owned shops at the side of the streets that sold dresses, food armor, and other basic things.

They quickly got to the training ground for the children and settled down as the children went to their respective rooms.

The two men quickly went to the lord's mansion to give a report of what happened the whole day but learned the city lord had gone to the beach were the monster was at.

The position of the city lord rose up a few more notches in their hearts, when they saw that monster they were scared out of their wits but had to keep calm so they wouldn't put fear in the hearts of the youths, but now the city lord even went directly to where the monster laid.

They went back to the training center to guard the place.

In his room Daniel sat down and recalled the training he did today, since he started training two months ago he had one fatal weakness which was his body.

At the age of sixteen, his body was so frail and weak that even an eight-year-old was stronger and had more durability than him, so ever since he had just been training his body neglecting fighting skills because he could not fight anybody or monsters with a weak body like that.

He sat down and started thinking of the monster he saw today, what he saw was real, totally real, and if that kind of monster existed that means what he saw two months ago that led to him starting his journey was also real.
