In a world where every single human is enhanced by genetical modified genes and where Virutal Reality takes gaming to the next level. A 17-yr old named Henry Pots, your average looking otaku school kid who gets bullied and beaten up everyday because he's geneless (quirkless), decided that enough was enough one day. He took a stand and told everyone that he's gonna be the very best at Villanum Eskia - an online VRMMORPG... but in reality he wasn't even able to afford the cheapest VR console even if he sold his inheritance, which was...
"Hey, Poop Pants! You dropped your wallet again, come get it back!" a bully said as he and his gang laughed at the boy retreating slowly away from them.
"I knew you were going to take it from me today Chad, so I kept the money in my socks dumbass!" Henry Poops said in a loud voice as he ran at top speed far away from them.
Veins popped out the side of Chad's head as he confirmed the wallet only contained a smiley face in it "You little sh*t!"
Fortunately, the one thing Henry's good at is running... unfortunately he was up against genetically modified bullies.
He managed to run around for a while, but the bullies finally caught up and threw him into a dark alley.
The bullies beat the shit out of him, but all the while being beat up, Henry just kept staring at Chad straight in his eyes... Chad felt that those dark black eyes glared and mocked him, he felt as if Henry's eyes could pierce through his soul.
"H-How dare you look down on me you Geneless piece of sh*t!"
Due to rage Chad accidentally activated his gene enhancement, which made his muscle expand, redden and produce steam, as if it were on fire. His gang was surprised as this was going too far already and tries to stop him but couldn't.
Before Henry could even react he was hit with what felt like a sledgehammer and flew across the alley ten metres away from the bullies straight into a dumpster.
"Another day in a trash can" Henry said weakly as his vision darkened and slowly loses consciousness.
St. Patrick's Hospital.
"Ugh.. where am I?" Henry said as he slowly sat up on the oddly familiar bed.
"Oh... am in the hospital" he said as if he was use to it already, he got up from the bed with bandages on his head and stomach, then he looked at the mirror with a bright smile and said,
"I was and still am, despite my mishaps, an exceptionally handsome male; fast moving, tall with soft dark hair and a gloomy but attractive demeanour, I am Henry Poops!".
Then there was a sound that he heard at the corner of the room, which ran shivers down his spine...it was a giggle, the laugh of a girl.
"Henry Poops, hehe..gets me everytime"
"Lana, what are you doing here!" Henry screamed, frightened by her sudden appearance.
"What do you mean? I came here to check up on you" Lana said sheepishly.
"I told you not to waste your time on me, there is no need for you to come here, and as you can see I'm okay!" He said in a slightly vexed but caring manner.
"Sorry..." She said with a genuine sad look.
"Ugh forget about, your here now, how did I end up here again?"Henry said in a defeated manner as he began to adjust and dress.
"The nurse said that a few good Samaritans brought you in last Friday night" Lana said.
"Good Samaritans... please is that the best those pieces of neck fats could come up with, they could at least have put in some effort and pay for the hospital bills" Henry said with contempt.
"Don't worry I've got it covered. You ready yet?" She said.
"Am ready, let's head out and don't worry I'll pay you back later," "I don't want you to pay me back..." Lana said in a low voice."Hm.. What was that?" Henry said. "Nothing!" Lana replied quickly as she began to hide her flushed face.
"Oh, and for the last time stop using your invisibility gene in my room!" Henry said as he began to think.
Lana has that angelic aura around her that make everyone she associates with smile, she's cute and beautiful with her light dark hair, quiet and shy with her deep blue hazel eyes, and sometimes outspoken, she's got a C-Rank type Innate ability and comes from a well-off family no matter how you look at it I cannot figure out why she decides to stick with me a Geneless and broke guy like me.
She's the only one that stands up for me and doesn't treat me like shit, maybe it's because we've always been childhood friends or... I don't know.
In this world where humans with genetically modified DNA rule the world there was no place for some one like Henry Poops who was essentially powerless, a cripple.
In the year 2105 there was a mad scientist who for some reason hated his DNA and wanted to change it permanently.
Everyone of his colleagues told him he was crazy, but he wouldn't just listen and one day after many years of experimentation and lots of trial and error he finally succeeded on perfecting the first every 'Eskia Serum' which when put in someone's body it alters the genetic formula of that person in relation to it's past ancestors and changes it into something new... something more powerful.
And well since he was mad, he decided to make it airborne for everyone.
Now it changed the world and every single human being between then and now 2145 even including the newborns have at least one innate ability, well all excluding the Geneless.
Geneless are those people like me who have yet to awaken there innate ability, and if your parents didn't awaken their's, then there is a slim chance that you could never awaken yours as well.
But fear not they say, as after 30 years of perfecting that dead mad old scientist experiments we have perfected his work and made it so that we could implant Genetically Modified Abilities (GMA) into your body, for both the Geneless and Awakened.
"Fear not they say... but the price of the lowest F-Rank ability, is enough to run shivers down my spine." Henry mumbled.
The extra addition to one's innate ability was a privilege meant for the rich, you could see a few people here and there with double abilities but those that were Geneless stayed Geneless. Unless there was some kind of golden opportunity or something like that.
But the Geneless were few to none as you could have a class of hundred and maybe only one is a cripple.
And surprisingly both of Henry's parents were scientist, but Geneless and died long ago, so Henry lives alone in a house all by himself.
"Alright this is me." Lana said as she stopped in front of a Mansion with a really high gate. "Alright see you later" Henry said without looking back.
"The least you could do is wave!" Lana pouted.
Henry's house was just a few blocks away from Lana's own, just around the corner so she visits him a lot even though he doesn't want her to. He entered into his single apartment house where the rent is cheap enough for a college student like him to pay for.
"Home sweet home"Henry said as he entered into his room.
There was a poster in his room; Villanum Eskia a very popular VRMMORPG, so to take his mind off things Henry decided that he was going to play this game that is coming out next week as it was like an entire new world... a fresh start a second earth they say, but his plan fell apart after finding out the price on even the lowest quality game console would cost him a fortune something he could not afford.
"Ahh! why am I always at the receiving end of the stick... am broke, Geneless and now I decided to play a game they make it impossible for me once again!" Henry blurts out in frustration.
He checks his bank account and sees:
[502 Credits]
"Guess am eating another cup of instant noodles today" Henry said in a manner of fact tune.
As in this world their universal currency had been converted into Credits. So basically an average meal for someone like Henry is around 5-7 credits, meaning that the money his parents left him with won't last for too long. Henry looked solemnly at his bank account and at the price of a VR headset - C15,000.
After Henry finished his meal he decided to go to bed early as there was nothing to do... but he then caught a glimpse of his father's bookshelf and just decided to check one out today.
"The my most memorable story... no, Top 10 ways to be a boss...no, How to cook a egg without breaking it...no, The Origin of Eskia Energy... Hmm?" Henry said as he thought that book was out of place.
He pulled it to check what it was, but to his surprise it just tilted backwards and the bookshelf began to move.
CREAK!
"What the... there's a secret passage way behind here!" He said surprised as he slowly walked pass the doorway leading into a secret underground lab.
He looked around the old broken down science lab and found nothing of interest apart from a note and a wooden box on the table, it read.
"Hey, Henry if you get this message it means that we're already gone so don't bother feeling bad for yourself as it was not your fault... either way we left you a gift I call it 'The Origin of Divinity' hope you like it, Love Dad and Mom."
"What the heck is going on here! A letter from my parents, a gift..." Then he looked at the wooden box and thought.
"Wait, is there an Eskia Serum in there?! If there is am I going to get an ability now? Will it be at least a C-Rank or maybe even an A-Rank?" Henry said excitedly.
So many thoughts ran through Henry's head just by thinking about the possibility of getting an ability.
Just so you know abilities in this world are ranked from F all the way to A and in some rare causes S. And each rank has a power level ranging from 1-5, so even if you're of the same rank, a difference in power level could make a change.
Scientist later found out that even if you have an F-Rank ability like spark, with enough training and potential or even enough wealth to buy an ability booster it could evolve when it breaks through the limit of F-Rank Power level 5 to E-Rank Fire Hand PL:1 and then D-Rank Fire, C-Rank Flames, B-Rank Flame Ball, A-Rank Heated Magma and finally if possible S-Rank ability which people sometimes call Amaterasu the eternal black flames the could even burn one's soul.
So even if Henry got an F-Rank ability he would at least be able to make do with it .
He picked the box up and suddenly a needle popped out the side of it and pricked his finger.
"Ah!" Henry said shocked at the turn of events as he picked up the box that fell to the ground.
Moments later the box automatically opened up and revealed what Henry believed to be an empty vial.
"An empty bottle?! Where's the serum!?" Henry said angrily.
Yes, an empty vial.
"Did the serum dry up over the years?"
Henry asked himself.
Out of a fit of anger Henry picked up the empty vial and threw it at the wall it broke.
Suddenly as Henry was about to climb back upstairs as he thought this was a waste of time. A slightly visible white mist came out from the empty vial and chased after him, it forced it's way into Henry's body through all the 7 holes of his body.
"What..?"
Before he could do anything he was violated. And once again lost conciousness.
