Heartbreak

Caeruleum feels a sense of comfort mixed with immense drowsiness, he finds himself floating peacefully beneath a dark starry sky. Anger, frustration, loneliness, inadequacy fear; all of his negative emotions seem to disappear, leaving behind a tranquil soul devoid of burdens or worry.

Whilst littering the darkness with intermitent glows, the stars gently shone on caeruleum's body, enveloping it like a cacoon, then finally solidifies transforming into a shell.

The rhythmic beating of a heart echoes from within the shell.

Caeruleum's body begins to slowly transform, morphing into a strange creature. Two bone-like horns Protrudes from his forehead. His muscles start to swell, giving him a well-toned physique. His height increases from 1.8 to 2 meters, and his skin gradually darkens into an aqua-blue color.

As Caeruleum transforms, he slowly enters a fetal position. The remaining light from the stars then coalesces into a shimmering stream of golden liquid, penetrating the shell, and finally submerging Caeruleum within.

Ding... Ding... Ding

After an unknown amount of time, Caeruleum hears a sound akin to soft bell chimes. The sound starts soft and pleasant but as time gradually passes it magnifies into an annoying cacophony of gongs.

As Caeruleum struggles to open his eyes, several red panels appear in front of him.

Staring at the screens in front of him in confusion, Caeruleum struggles to overcome his drowsiness as memories of his previous 'death,' along with the following incidents resurface.

A sudden surge of anger overcomes him. Caeruleum stares at the panel in front of him, his eyes bulging in frustration.

Attempting to swipe the panel away, Caeruleum finally notices his current predicament. A constricting feeling engulfs his entire body causing him to register the words on the panel.

"So, am I in some sort of egg?" Caeruleum asks to no one in particular.

Realizing that he's unable to move his arms due to the cramped space, Caeruleum starts banging his head on the shell.

The egg shakes with great force and a huge crack forms. Just when Caeruleum thinks that it's finally working, he suddenly realizes, "Where the cracks are centered, that's not where I banged on the shell."

Puchi... Crack...

An arm suddenly protrudes from the crack, plunging into caeruleum's heart. With a clench of its fist, Caeruleum's heart ruptures like a water balloon. As the creature removes its arm, light finally enters the egg from the crack, allowing Caeruleum, with his remaining consciousness to see the arms of his assailant.

A green muscular arm, with the thickness of an average human's thigh, could be seen retracting from the hole it created. Triangular scales cover the arm. As the creature removes its arm, a blue cloud-looking substance rests between its claws.

Pulling my claws out from the shell, a tantalizing aroma enters my nose. My glands begin to secrete acid and a burning desire takes over my entire being. As I admire the soul before me, I impatiently give it a gentle lick.

Boom

I can feel my soul evolve into something greater. My body trembles in euphoria. I close my eyes, savoring the feeling. Just as I'm about to take another lick, my instincts flare up. Quickly opening my eyes I see countless gazes resting upon me. The eyes of countless demons shimmer with greed as they stare at the soul in my hand.

Without a second delay, I immediately swallow the entire soul.

Crackle

Immense pain spread throughout my body. I can feel my body breaking apart only to come back stronger than before.

Strength, an unbelievable amount of strength courses through me. It continues to grow at an unbelievable rate. Feeling the vast and majestic Power, I let out a roar to proclaim my dominance. Six Spikes, each 4 meters long, protrudes from my back. A gash then forms at the center of each spike. My spiritual power extends to the spikes allowing me to control them like limbs. My claws, although previously long and sharp, now extend to 8 inches, they shimmer with a terrifying glint seemingly capable of cutting the very air in half.

In a unique dome-like space, where the walls are made up of peculiarly shaped orange rocks, bright red stalag tights hang from the ceiling, their tips dripping with molten hot magma, forming lava lakes on the ground. Geysers of lava occasionally erupt at random intervals. In the center of the space stands two distinct volcanos, both seemingly about to erupt at any moment. One sits firmly on the ground, mighty yet unassuming while the second hangs on the ceiling, directly above the first. The lava in its crater gently boils, forming bubbles that when popped, splash upwards to the ceiling.

Randomly spread throughout the dome, a little over two thousand demons, each with a unique appearance, all stare at a green humanoid demon with a dazed look in their eyes.

Previously a hypnotizing aroma spread throughout the dome, with the source of the aroma being the soul held in the claws of the humanoid demon.

Now, swallowed by the demon, the soul along with its aroma disappeared. A feeling of immense grief wafts over the entire space.

The dazed look on the demons then turns into confusion, then realization, and finally anger. Howls of hatred and frustration echo in the dome. A pale, saw-tooth demon, with bat-like wings, pounces towards the humanoid demon with fury burning in its eyes.

After the first demon, came the second, then the third. All two thousand plus demons simultaneously attack the humanoid demon in hopes of tearing it apart and ripping the desired soul from inside its body.

---

Dropping the final corpse onto the ground, I stare at the countless corpses beneath my feet and a disdainful smile makes its way onto my lips.

I slowly walk towards the center of the dome, casually stepping on the bodies of my foe, their bizarrely colored blood, and countless broken yet decorative eggshells.

I stand on the edge of the center volcano and stare down in satisfaction at my masterpiece.

Woosh

I empty all the air in my lungs, and then with a suction sound a massive vortex appears in front of my mouth. Shimmering souls, all red in color float from the corpses below. As soon as they appear they get sucked into the vortex, entering my stomach.

with each soul that I swallow my soul grows stronger, allowing for my body to become more terrifying. Devouring the last soul, I close my eyes in intoxication.

A few minutes later I open my eyes and was about to make my way down to look for an exit when my body suddenly halts in its place.

I begin to feel excruciating pain as if something is trying to burrow out of me.

A ghostly cloud of a height of a dozen meters slowly exits my body. The cloud is transparent but with a shade of red. A sudden realization makes its way onto my face when I realize that these are the souls I just devoured.

I fail to understand why the souls left my body until I stare at the center of the cloud and see a shining blue soul.

shhhh

With a sound akin to tearing paper, the final soul leaves my body, bringing my soul with it.

My sight begins to blur, but with my remaining will, I stare at the souls in hatred.

Helpless, I begin to fall backwards into the lava, and can only watch as they drift in a certain direction.
