Adam stared silently at Harold's tortured and bloody body. He shuddered and even thought that Harold was already a corpse, but his quiet breathing showed that this cockroach was alive.
Not far from Harold's "corpse," Chloe sat wiping blood from her clothes. Adam rolled his eyes and thanked God that he had not suffered the same fate as Harold.
Walking over to Chloe, Adam sat down in a chair and sighed.
"I definitely can't hurt you, Miss Chloe." Adam smiled as he looked at the blood-stained instruments.
"It's not that bad." Chloe smiled and sighed, putting her hand on her cheek. "I'm just an ordinary and defenseless woman."
Adam decided just to be silent and not comment on Chloe's words. He leaned back in his chair and looked intently at his body.
"Traces of demonic energy..." Adam muttered and frowned. "So Albert's not the only one who got into this?"
"That's right. That worm screamed to the last one about how soon the world would see the greatness of demons." Chloe grimaced and looked contemptuously at Harold's body. "So I lost my temper a little and broke his face."
Adam looked silently at Chloe, who smiled shamelessly. However, he did not express his opinion, as he would not mind breaking a couple of bones with Harold.
"There was news recently. The Empress is gathering talent." Adam shrugged and darkened. "I received the invitation through Emilia."
Chloe was silent and thoughtful, resting her hand on her chin. Adam was silent, too, immersed in his thoughts.
***
Adam was sitting in the carriage, and Emilia was sitting on his lap beneath his feet. Her head went up and down. Five minutes later, there was a swallowing sound, and she stood up, sitting down next to Adam.
Their path led straight to the castle, where Adam had been invited. There was a gloominess on his face, and his heart was beating frantically.
Soon, the carriage pulled up to the luxurious and huge castle. Adam swallowed hard and put a serious expression on his face.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Adam, Your Highness." The maid who was greeting him bowed. "Please follow me."
Emilia snorted arrogantly and stepped forward. Her demeanor now changed to that of an arrogant mistress, and Adam assumed the appearance of a servant and only hurriedly followed Emilie.
Walking through the long corridors of the castle, Adam felt helpless. The whole castle was like a labyrinth that was so confusing that, without a guide, one might as well stay there forever.
Fifteen minutes later, Adam and Emilia finally reached the luxurious doors. There stood two guards, and checking their profiles, Adam saw a total force of over 500,000.
"Hell, I'm just a worm compared to them!"
Adam was nervous, but he did not show it on his face. Adam waited for the maid to speak to the empress.
In five minutes...
Adam and Emilia were granted permission to enter. As soon as Adam crossed the threshold, he felt a strange sense of weightlessness and looked around. Adam was shocked!
He was in open space, with countless stars glittering, and there was no Emilie beside him. Adam could not understand what was happening.
Suddenly he felt a burning sensation in his hand and saw the book, The Co-Creator's Pen, wide open and its pages flipping rapidly. Adam felt fear and looked around.
"Edric von Aschenwald, welcome."
Adam heard a voice behind him and flinched. When he turned around, he saw a beautiful woman. She had silky black hair, blue eyes like sapphires, and a seductive and slender body.
She seemed to be the epitome of beauty. It was as if one looked at her and he who looked at her would never forget her appearance.
Adam, however, did not care to admire her beauty. He was sweating profusely and felt intense pressure as if he were under increased gravity.
"Your Majesty the Empress." Adam fell to his knees and bowed his head.
His face expressed reverence, and anyone who saw Adam would have thought he was a most loyal man, but the empress, Katherine Avalantis Isengard, only gave him an indifferent look.
"Our meeting was on my birthday. Then you were a wimp who even a homeless man could beat. And now you could, one might say, surpass even the Duke's heirs." Katerina suddenly smiled, blinking her eyes charmingly. "Your handsome and manly appearance, your wit, your cunning, your skill at manipulation, and your interesting spells"
Adam bowed his head even lower as Katerina began to list the qualities that he never showed anyone. Adam was shocked.
"No wonder my arrogant daughter chose you. You are interesting, very interesting." Katerina assumed a sitting pose, and a crystal throne appeared beneath her. "But I didn't expect her to give you her virginity. Who would have thought..."
Catherine blinked and smiled, and then Adam saw Emilia appear beside her. She looked asleep.
"I examined her body and found something amusing—traces of illusion magic." Katerina's eyes sparkled with cunning, and she laughed. "But according to my information, Edric, your magic class is Combat Mage. Does that mean you have a subclass?"
Adam was silent. He could feel his heart beating.
A subclass is a very rare mutation. At birth, there is a slim chance that the infant can gain stronger magical channels, through which it can gain an additional class.
And Katherine Avalantis Isengard, the empress, also had a subclass. And two at once, which was considered incredibly rare: in the history of this world, there were only two people who had two subclasses.
And they were all great personalities who had changed entire eras. Adam was shocked and desperate.
"I was deliberately hiding and trying to avoid her, but how come?"
Katerina, as if hearing his thoughts, giggled sweetly and waved her hand. Adam reflexively raised his hand and grabbed the rock where the tape was kept.
Sending a thread of magical energy inside, Adam activated the hologram. There, Edric trained his magical energy and used spells belonging to the three classes with ease.
"Damn, idiot Edric. Where's your brain?" Adam felt annoyed as he looked at the hologram.
It took him about five minutes to come to his senses and breathe heavily. He looked at Katerina and bowed.
Catherine smirked and crossed her legs. Adam felt intense pressure and could only curse the uncaring Edric.
"But I'm sure Edric is a very cautious character?" Adam suddenly wondered. "Could it be... the co-creators Quill is added this from himself?"
Adam frowned deeply, and anxiety appeared in his heart. If so, all his plans might be disrupted. Such an action on the part of the book alone put Adam in a dangerous situation.
However, Katerina's voice made him come to his senses.
"I value talented people. So you have two choices: the first is to submit to me and become my faithful servant. You will receive titles, wealth, women, and my support." Catherine smiled. "And I will even forgive you for bewitching my daughter."
Adam was not surprised and could only sigh bitterly.
"And the second option?" asked Adam, even though he knew the answer.
"Death!"
A strong pressure appeared in the air, and Adam felt his body buckle and his bones crack.
This is the epitome of a total force of 1.5 million!
