Rise of Flare

NB: I'm no longer working on this story for now, after seeing the flaws that it has and I'm currently working on a new one. Fang always knew he was different from others. His involuntary use of fire always got him into several problems in the past. However even he never expected himself to be the hybrid of a dragon race protecting humanity from the shadows. Ever since he was expelled he thought he had no future for himself. Little did he know this incident would lead him from being unable to start a single spark to becoming leader of all dragon kind. .

Chapter 6 Pyro Training

As the school bell rang, lunchtime had ended and combat lessons were now in session. Neo and Fang waved to each other before parting ways for the last time.

Fang had quite a hard time reaching Nyami's stream. Most students could simply windport to any destination on Raptilia only. Once he had made it through all the tall grass and bushes he found Nyami lying by the stream's bank .

"You finally arrived. I knew I should have gone to the school and windported you."

"So what did you learn ?"

Fang told him everything from Raptilia's history to the five dragon ranks. Mere was the weakest, Guardian was what he would become when he graduates , Master was Nyami's current rank , Deity was the second most powerful and the strongest of all was Divine, the rank of the All Dragon.

"So they taught you about the Deity siblings already." he yawned.

"You know about them too?" asked Fang

"Knew them? I met them."

After the discussion Nyami raised his left palm to show him the pyro ability. He looked in awe as Nyami's fireball shifted from water and then to dust.

"If you know all these abilities, why don't you train anyone else."

"I usually spend most of my time on Earth."

"But still, how did you master all three?"

"I had lucky parents, my father was a pyro-wind hybrid while my mother was hydro."

"So they taught you then."

"No , they both died when I was very young."

"That's why I spend most of my time with humans," he said in a sober tone. "They reminded me of how it was like to have a family."

Fang decided to ask no more about Nyami's past and asked him once again to teach him pyro wielding. Nyami told him to start first. Fang once again placed his hands next to each other.

"You'll extinguish the fire if you do it that way."

Nyami raised both of his hands near his head to show him.

"Your stronger hand in your case the right creates the fire. Your other hand then coordinates it." he said while using his finger to put the fire in a spinning motion.

Fang followed his advice and after a few minutes was able to hurl flames for a short distance. Nyami was pleased that he had already mastered the basics; the last person he taught pyro to was his former wife Kitapo.

Now it was time to move on to the more advanced training.

"So tell me Nyami, how can I reach my full potential."

Nyami sighed before answering:

"Fire is not like hydro or wind where you use your positive emotions. You have to use anger with the intent to kill."

"I'll never use anger again, not after what happened to him."

"You were only trying to prove a point."

"Yeah and now he might be stuck in hospital for several years."

"Then you'll never be able to protect your mother." A fireball was suddenly launched at Nyami who blocked it with his tail.

He left Nyami and journeyed back to the school.

Despite the tensions Fang continued to train with him. However his fire ability was still weak , but that didn't matter.

All he cared about was if he was able to surpass the other students.

Two weeks had already passed and now it was time for the combat exam.
