Armed with her blade coated with dark aura, Onyx decided to go and slay the goblins she had noticed earlier using her shadow sense skill. With a sense of caution, she continued on her journey, moving deeper into the dungeon's twisting corridors. She remained alert, ready for any danger that may come her way. As she carried on, she came across a small chamber filled with strange snickering sounds. She had found the goblin den.
Goblins were small, vile creatures that inhabited the dark and damp corners of the dungeon. They stood around three feet tall, with hunched postures and wiry frames covered in mottled green or brown skin. Their faces were twisted and grotesque, with bulbous noses and sharp, yellowed teeth protruding from their snarling mouths. Their eyes were beady and quick, darting around their surroundings.
"Analyse", Onyx whispered. She saw three [Goblin LVL.3], and one [Goblin Mage LVL.5]. "The problem with these monsters isn't their individual strength, but their numbers", she thought. Onyx wasn't confident she would be able to defeat three goblins and one goblin mage, so she elaborated a strategy : she would try to isolate the goblins, and beat them one after the other in a one-on-one fight.
She started making loud noises, in order to lure some of the goblins away. Her plan was to use shadow concealment to sneak up on individual goblins and take them down quietly without alerting the rest of the group. This worked perfectly, and she managed to terminate the three goblins without much trouble. She received a system notification when killing the goblins, but simply ignored it. However, when she tried to sneak up to the Goblin Mage, the creature immediately saw through her stealth skill.
"Damn it... I wonder if it's because the skill isn't high-level yet ?" she wondered. "Or maybe the Goblin Mage has some sort of magic spell that allows it to see through stealth skills ?" The Goblin mage's features were sharp and angular, and it wore a hood that concealed his face. It had a prominent nose, pointed ears, and a wide mouth filled with jagged teeth, and large and piercing eyes with a calculating gleam that suggested its cunning and intelligence.
Onyx started to run confidently towards the monster, however despite being a mage, the goblin had a lean and muscular build, with greenish-brown skin that was tough and resistant to physical attacks. Quickly, the goblin mage cast a spell, and Onyx was suddenly bound by magical chains. The girl didn't despair, and tried to slash the spell using her blade imbued with dark energy. The goblin looked at her with a smug face, as if he was saying "This won't work, girl !", but to her surprise, the spell disappeared as soon as the knife came into contact with the goblin's magic.
With a look of fear and surprise in his eyes, the goblin stumbled back and tripped on its own feet. It tried to run away, however it was too late : the weapon had already pierced through its stomach. Finally, she decided to read through her system notifications. [80 EXP] [80 EXP] [80 EXP] [140 EXP], she read. It seemed she had received a grand total of 380 experience points from slaying the goblins in the goblin den. She was a bit disappointed, since that was far less than what she had gotten from slaying the Minotaur. She was now half way to hitting level 5, and couldn't contain her excitement. As she approached the dead body of the Goblin Mage, she noticed a small hole in the wall of the goblin den. This wasn't something others would have noticed, but thanks to her great observation skills, Onyx was able to catch the small detail.
When she inspected the corpse of the goblin mage looking for loot, she found a small key attached around the creature's neck. The key seemed to match perfectly the small hole in the wall, so she immediately decided to check if the key fit in the small hole. She carefully inserted it into the hole and twisted it. With a satisfying click, a section of the wall slid open, revealing a hidden chamber beyond. Onyx peered inside, her heart pounding with anticipation. The room was dimly lit by flickering torches on the walls, casting eerie shadows across the floor. Suddenly, she received a System Notification. [You have entered the Great Lost Library].
