Hidden Inventory II: Budding feelings

The next day….

Yokohama, the Hayato family mansion…

Two figures lay, cuddled with each other on a rather large bed, with half of their bodies covered with a large blanket, while rays from the sunshine peered through the window and shone onto their bodies.

*Ugghh..*

Letting out a small groan, one of the figures slowly opened eyes, revealing glistening purple irises, and scanned his surroundings, before squinting them when the rays of the sun fell into them.

After a while of adjusting his eyesight he turned towards the beautiful visage of the young girl lying in his embrace before a relieved smile escaped his lips unconsciously.

Hearing a small groan escape her lips, he instantly closed his eyes and pretended to sleep, then embracing her further to make the situation look more believable, but after a few minutes of pretending to sleep, he drifted back into sleep.

.

A few hours into the day, still asleep, the blue haired teen lay in bed, occasionally yawning and twisting in bed, until his eyes snapped open suddenly.

'Ieiri?…'

Turning around, seemingly looking for something or someone, he rushed out of bed in a frenzy, as if scared that he might lose his life if he did not find whatever he wanted.

Rushing to the hall, bathroom, and guest room, at super speed, he failed to find whatever he was looking for.

"Sigh…"

After failing in his search, he walked back to the bathroom with a downcast expression, as he scratched his head and leaned against the wall.

*Sizzle…sizzle..*

It wasn't after a few moments did color return to his face, after he heard a couple of sizzling sounds from the kitchen. Without wasting a second, he rushed to the kitchen at full speed, only to see a beautiful dark brown haired young woman standing gently basting a piece of steak on a pan, as the aroma filled the entire place.

"Cough.."

Concealing the smile on his face, he coughed to attract her attention and walked nonchalantly to the fridge, picked up a bottle of water and downed it in one go.

"You're awake already.." Turning around, she smiled as she noticed his figure.

"I was planning on bringing you your food upstairs but since you're here already then let's eat.."

She walked to him with a smile, and gestured, but the young blue haired teen was gobsmacked, seeing her so close to him. The beads of sweat glistening along her neck and the slightly revealing tank top made him swallow unconsciously, before he cleared his throat and looked away after staring for a while.

"Like what you see huh.."

She smiled proudly and placed two steak dishes on their dinner table and gestured for him to sit.

Clearing his throat, Kenshin simply chose to ignore her and keep up his nonchalant facade as he sat on a seat and picked up his fork.

"What are you doing?.."

Ieiri wat he'd him with intrigue, and while he saw no lithoing wrong with his choice of cutlery, it seemed like the young girl was a tad too traditional.

"Eating?"

Kenshin picked up a piece of meat with his fork and placed it in his mouth and chewed with a small smile.

"Use this instead.."

She handed him a pair of chopsticks, which he solemnly wanted to decline, but seeing the demanding look on her face made him sigh, as he placed his fork down reluctantly, and took up the chopsticks.

"How is the food?"

She asked, seeing the appreciating smile on Kenshin's face.

"It's good.." Kenshin replied with a small smile, as memories of his childhood flooded his mind. He remembered how his mother used to ask how good the food tasted no matter the meal they ate.

Thinking this made him sigh with nostalgia, as his expression turned downcast for a moment.

"What's wrong? Do you not like it?" Suddenly asking after noticing his change of expression, Ieiri couldn't help but taste her own food to see if it tasted bad.

"No no. There's nothing wrong. It's just that, I think it's been a while since I ate a home cooked meal.."

Kenshin smiled and continued his meal, trying his very best to not let out his bottled up feelings.

"How long?"

Ieiri asked and looked at him, while he met her gaze and turned away.

"Nearly eight years.."

He responded, while Ieiri sighed and gently caressed his palm to try to calm him down.
