Chapter Thirty-Seven

The sight of a fellow werewolf die by a bullet is enough to send everyone into a panic enemy or not. The group frantically looked around trying to pin point the location that the shot came from. While Greene's goonies took to searching the woods. This works in my favor. I'll pick them off one by one.

"Everyone calm down! Now!" Verner roared. Everyone froze in fear forgetting who the real enemy is. Right now this AR 15 is scarier than anything Daniel Verner is capable of.

"My men will find the hunter and kill them no problem. Lets focus on the real issue here. All of you know where the mother of my child is and no one seems to want to talk." He said redirecting every ones attention back to him.

Why didn't they take advantage of the cachous?

Why did they hesitate?

"Lucia, can you tell me which one of these fuckers she has mated with?" He asked.

"I can look at the strings and I can block the strings but I don't know what the colors stand for. I don't know how to tell who is mated to who unless there partner is standing next to them." She explains.

"Witches are useless when it comes to things like this." Willow chimes in.

"Then use mind control. I don't care I just want him dead." Verner said.

"You are wasting your time. The person that you are truly mad at is me. I rejected the high ranking female that the Moon Goddess gift because I fell in love with a man." Ash said as he pulled himself up off of the ground.

"Your a disappointment." Verner said walking over to his son and kicked him in the side. Ash let out a loud gasp as the air left his lungs.

"Daniel, I'm sorry that my rejection has haunted you for as long as it has but I can't help that I fell in love with Christopher." Dana said apologizing for her past mistakes.

"How many people have you hurt because you are mad at me?" Ash asked. Daniels face softened for a second but anger quickly replaced it. He picked up Ash and started shaking him.

"Leave him alone." Dana yelled but remained in her current position.

He has to die.

I just need the shot.

Suddenly, a mahogany colored wolf emerged from the trees and onto the field. All eyes went to the wolf but Verner didn't seem to notice until it was too late. All, that I could see is blood but Daniel is still thrashing around.

Everyone that could and was able sprung into action to help the wolf who was fighting the rogue alpha but none the less were too weak. Verner broke free a bloody mess, his fore arm appears to be hanging by a thread and claw marks cover his face.

Even through the blood I can see that his eyes have significantly darkened. The familiar sounds of bone cracking fills the air. He is going to shift.

"Seoul cover your ears." I whisper to my child. He presses his palms flatly against his ears. It may muffle the sound but even in this situation I am worried about the hearing loss that this may cause down the line.

I position the weapon and find Verner through the scope. He is disfigured his body is going through the transformation. The brown wolf is still trying to bite at him and get him down on the ground. If I fire now it will hit the wolf.

Move.

Verner spins around and kicks the wolf sending him across the field. The wolf whimpers but refuses to stay down. He charges back at Verner just to get kicked again.

"Any one else want to challenge me? I never loose! I always get what I want!" He yells with a gravely deep voice.

Mitilda's back is to me but I don't miss the loud growl that she lets out. Her wolf is irate and ready to fight but she will be fighting with the brown wolf. Who has already been hurt by Verner but his sense of justice is amazing. Every one else is too injured to fight him in his wolf form. I know that Mitilda is strong but I doubt that this will be a fair even fight.

"He must atone for his sins with a surge of blood." The voice said.

Verners wolf is a onyx color while Mitilda looks like white fang reincarnated. They both are at least twice the size of the brown wolf but none the less he joined Mitilda in circling Daniel. All I hear is low growls ordering him to submit now or face the consequences.

Daniels wolf stands tall. All of the hair on his back stands up. His white teeth are bared and his nails are dug deep into the dirt preparing to charge forward. Sadly for him Mitilda was faster. Her teeth latched onto his throat. The brown wolf made work of his legs. Verner kicked the brown wolf off before slipping out of Mitildas grip.

He runs to his left charging towards the group of injured pack members. No more pain. No more hurt. I look through the scope and chase him as he moves. Eventually he moves away from everybody and heads towards the entrance of the field.

"I hope you find peace in your next life." I whisper and pull the trigger. Another loud boom sounds out leaving me deaf but it meets it target. Verner falls on his side. Blood pools around his head. His body starts shifting back to his human form. I let out a sigh of relief.

Daniel Verner is dead but his minions are still running around. I frantically look for them through the scope of the rifle. They have to be here some where. I spot one walking past a tree sniffing the air. He is looking for us.

"Three dead, five to go." I whisper and pull the trigger.

"Four dead, four to go." I count.

"Five dead, three to go." I count.

"Six dead, two to go." I count.

"Seven dead, one to go." I count.

"Eight dead, zero to go." I count sighing.

A constantly flicker of light brought my attention back to the field. Keegan is shining the flash light, pointing in my direction with Elixer and Mitilda at his side.

Mitilda's eyes widen and she starts pointing at other wolves clearly barking orders. Ash helps Alpha Foster to his feet who in turn picks up brother. Neve rushes over to the nurse and helps her lift the person she had been cradling in her lap. I can't help but to cry when I see Jacksons head roll backwards. He is unconscious, dried blood has stained his white blond hair.

A flicker of light draws my attention to the bottom of the tree. Keegan and Elixer are standing at the base of the tree gesturing to me. There mouths are moving but there words fall on deaf ears.

Elixer points to his ears putting two and two together. The gun fire has deafened me. I shake Seoul and he looks at me with this dazed look on his face. When he turns his head I see blood oozing out of his ear canal. He needs help.

I look down and see that we are at least a hundred and ten meters off of the ground. It wasn't a easy climb up and it wont be an easy climb down. I drop the magazine out of the AR 15, eject the bullet that was in the chamber and throw them down to the ground. Then repeat the process with the second one.

"Alright buddy we are going to climb down." I tell him knowing that he can't hear me. I grab onto his arms and pull him onto my back. Then I start the climb down. Carefully watching my footing. I'm glad that I choose to wear boots. Eventually I found myself on the last branch. Keegan motioned for me to jump down. I promptly hop off of the branch and am caught and am safetly placed on the ground. I looked around for the guns that I threw down to the ground. Elixer takes the flash light from Keegan and starts shining it on the ground. Once all of the pieces are located I put the weapons back together.

"Seoul needs help, His ears are bleeding." I tell the two men.

Elixer takes his flash light and shines it into Seouls ears. He tells Keegan a few things who in turn grabs my arm and starts pulling us through the maze of trees. Eventually the pack house comes into view. Keegan walkes us througth the trashed pack house and into the infirmary.

The infirmary is caotic and filled to the brim with injured pack members. The only nurse on staff is spreading herself thin trying to provide everyone the attention they needed. Elixer goes over and grabs the nurse. I see him pointing at us and she rushed over but pauses when she sees the firearms that i'm carrying.

"They are safe. Please help my son." I say trying to assure her. She nods and waves her hand, telling me to follow her. She takes us to an empty bed and I sit Seoul down. The nurse pulls out an otoscope and starts trying to explain to Seoul what the tool is but he can't hear her. He looks to me with a horrified expression on his face.

"When mommy shot the weapon you were very close to me and it was very loud. I know, I can't hear so I have no doubt that you can't hear either" I think rembering how he was able to communicate with me before I was able to speak. He shakes his up and down agreeing with what I had said.

"So, the nurse is going to use the tool to look into your ears." I explain. He nods and turns his head to the side. She smiles at him and puts the tool to his ear then quickly frowns. She frowns and dissapears.

Suddendly, Jackson appears his head is wrapped in thick white bandages. His blue eyes are watery and is fighting to blink back the tears that are threatening to fall. He pulls me into a tight hug and I feel a surge of pain in my shoulder. His face shows his concern. The nurse returns with a syringe full of saline. Seoul turns his head to the side and winces in pain and she flushes out one ear and then repeats the process with the other. Once she was satisfied she uses the tool to look into both of his ears. She turns to Jackson and explains her findings. He nods as he talks.

Jackson, then points to me and to his own shoulder. He turns to me and grabs the bottom of Keegan's shirt. He pulls it over my head treating my shoulder with care. Then pulls my baseball cut shirt over my head leaving me feeling exposed but it puts the dark bruises forming on my shoulder on full display. They both look horrified but I knew that the bruise was just the product of the guns recoil. It would go away with time.

"Are you okay? Is Seoul okay?" I ask not sure of the volume of my voice. Jackson pulls a cracked phone out of his pocket and types a few sentences before showing me the screen.

"Both of his ear drums are busted and he wont be able to hear until they heal. I am fine, just a few stitches." The screen read and then Jackson gave me a bright smile. I nod and grab my shirt up off of the bed. I slip it over my head. Then I grab the weapons and take them apart yet again. Everyone will feel better knowing that they are no longer a threat.

Mitilda walkes into the infirmary demanding everyones attention. Her face has a solom smile painted on it but her posture shows her true feelings, sorrow. As an alpha she has to feel like she failed her people. She got careless and walked into Verners trap. Then she was forced to stand by and watch her people be tortured. Just to add insult to injury we had to use a forbidden means to save everyone. Now she has to deal with the reprocussions.

She speaks for a few minutes and then people get up from there hospital beds, following her out the door. I look at Jackson clearly confused. He pulls out his phone and types another sentence.

"We are going to lay the wolves that died to rest." I nod and pick up Seoul off of the bed. Following, the rest off the wolves back out to the training field.

The dead are lined up in a neat line, eyes closed and there arms are posed across their chest. The bonfire's blaze is larger and hotter then it was just a few hours prior. The two witches stand off to the side both in hand cuffs. Elixer is holding the young witches child. Dana and Felix are sobbing over Finns body. Grant had no mate and his parents are no where to be found. All of the others had no one to mourn for them but despite everything that they have put us through they will recieve a proper send off. One by one Frank and Never placed the bodies into the blaze.
