Chapter Seven

Jin woo waits to meet his father, and tears begin to well up when he sees Dad. He asks Dad what's happened, but Dad can't recognize him. He asks who Jin woo is, and the lack of recognition shocks Jin woo. Once Jin woo clarifies that he is Dad's son, the realization slowly hits, and Dad begins to she's tears. They reach their hands out against the glass, both crying😭😭..

Outside the court house****

Lee In ah finds Jin woo outside the court house, watching the protests demanding capital punishment for Dad. She tries to catch his attention, but the bus arrives with Dad. The crowd rush towards him, and police forces have to stand in their way. Dad looks confused and overwhelmed by the crowd, and Jin woo watches the scene with fear.

Suddenly, a man recognizes Jin woo as the killer's son, and they rush towards him. Lee In ah gets pushed into the crowd as the police block them off from Jin woo. The protesters manages to pull his necklace off, and it falls along with the ring hung on it. Jin woo gets beaten with thrown eggs and stands helplessly in front of the court house.

The next day*****

Jae hyuk( Jin woo's Dad) wakes up trembling in his prison cell, visibly shaken from a nightmare of a terrified Jung ah running barefoot in he forest. In the morning, he had one - on - one meeting with Jin woo, who reassures him that their court appointed public defender will help them.

Jin woo's faith in the system seems a little idealistic once their attorney SONG JAE IK arrives. He doesn't have much hope for the trial, explaining it will be difficult due to the evidence provided and jae hyuk points out that the confession was forced. Either way, it's still confession, so the best thing to do is plead guilty and ask for favourable disposition to reduce the prison term.

That's not the answer they were hoping for, jae hyu refuses. Attorney song isn't thrilled that jae hyuk wants to go to trial by jury, but he counsels his client that when the judge ask how he pleads, he should just remain silent " as if he was innocent" and let the attorney answer. Jae hyuk protests that he's truly innocent, but attorney song just marvels at his client's acting ability, telling him to keep it up. 😣😥

As Lee In ah arrives at the court house, she's surprised to see her course mate Yeo kyung( Gyu man's sis) there too, Yeo kyung was picked as a juror, and seems to think the trial will be a fun game to watch. Lee In ah seems to agree with her, but as she walks up the steps to the court house, she sees Jin woo standing behind the angry mob yelling as the police escort his father into the courthouse.

When one of them points out Jin woo as the defendant's son, the mob turns their attention to him, pummeling (beating) him with eggs while he stands there, defenseless. Lee In ah watches in helpless worry, held back by the police barricade ( barrier).
