Re:Set

-Sheyla- - Trigger: Songbird.

I sat on the edge of my pastel colored bed, staring on my pastel colored wall. It hasn't sunken on my mind yet that today is the first day of school. I play with the ends of my dark hair while waiting for 6:00 to strike. It was still early in the morning. The sun was still rising from its slumber and the sky was still dyed in a dark blue and grayish tint with a bit of orange that signifies the rising of the morning.

Why am I awake in such an early hour? Well, I like looking at the sun rising from the edge of my limited vision. There's just something so pleasing, so aesthetic about it. And I definitely love all things aesthetically pleasing. There's just something about looking at aesthetic things that pleases me.

I held my rose gold colored phone beside me and walked towards the balcony. I leaned on the railings and opened up the Camera app. I raised my phone to the magnificent view of the rising sun and the dark blue sky and took a picture of it, no flash added. I looked at the photo and it was just aesthetic. I opened the Instagram app and posted it as my stories for today. And with that, it was already time for me to prepare for the second day of school.

I did a quick bath, hair drying, and all the bathroom stuff. After that I shrugged on my uniform. My uniform is a black sailor-like uniform with white lines on the neck and wrist areas and accompanied with a large blue neckerchief tied around the breast area. Now all that's left is makeup.

I sat in my makeup station and looked in front of my table mirror. I still haven't decided on what kind of look I would rock today. I could go with no makeup but it's the first week, I should do some sort of impression. I can do the no makeup probably in the middle of the school year where I don't have to impress. I want to look presentable but still have some aesthetic. And with that, I have now decided on what to do. I dabbed, drew on, blended, and all that other stuff and tadah, a no makeup-makeup look for me.

I dropped the brush and looked at the mirror with awe. I thought it would just do minor things but I think I overdid myself. Right in front of the mirror, was myself, Sheyla Mae, looking fresh. The makeup certainly enhanced my brown features and I gotta say wow, super aesthetic. But there was one thing missing. I slid in a piece of music note clip on my hair and my look was complete. So I did a quick mirror selfie.

I was now ready to go to school looking fine as hell.

I head downstairs and the whole area smelled like heaven. It seems while I was preparing, breakfast was cooking.

The dining area looked lively. Grandpa Sam sitting down reading a newspaper alone on the dining table filled with mouthwatering delicacies while his assistant, Skye, was brewing fresh coffee. I quickly sat down next to grandpa and grabbed the nearest food I could get.

"Good morning dearie," Grandpa spoke while focusing on his paper. "Are you ready for the second day of classes?"

I shoved a spoonful of cereal in my mouth then nodded to grandpa's question. Skye gave me a fresh cup of steaming coffee then sat down across me near grandpa. She was wearing a black long sleeved top and a brown pencil skirt. They started talking about the news and whatnot. I tuned them off and continued eating my cereal. I didn't really care about the government work. It seemed boring.

I finished off my food and waited for them to finish off. And after a short while, they were done too. We head off to the car and headed onward to-

"Skye? I seem to have forgotten to bring some important files. Can you please get them in the office?" Grandpa chuckled bashfully.

Then I remembered that I didn't grab my bag. I left my things inside. I almost went to school without my bag, that'll be really disastrous.

"Oh grandpa I can get it for you." I scratched the backside of my head. "I also forgot to bring my bag."

"Seriously? Well okay then, the files is just on my table. Please get it."

I exited the car and ran back inside the house. Grandpa's office was located on the left side of the house. I decided to grab my bag on my room upstairs first. After that I head down to the office.

I opened the wooden door to grandpa's office. Inside was filled with exquisite things. A large shiny wooden bookshelf filled with hardbound books on the right. On the middle is a sturdy low table with a small flower on top with brown couches on the sides. Then across the table is grandpa's study table. It's like the color brown barfed all over the room.

I went near the study table and just like he said the files are just on top. I swiftly obtained the thing and turned around.

On my way to exit the office, something caught my eye. On the middle of the couch was a small knife embedded between the cushion. I went near it and pulled it out. It was super sharp and shiny. It has a black leather handle and it has the initials N.W.O on the bottom.

I wonder why grandpa has this, or why he left it on the couch as a safety hazard. Well its none of my concern but I should place this somewhere safe. I softly placed it on the study table and ran out of the office (while also getting some food in the fridge for lunch later) before Grandpa and Skye get impatient.

As soon as I entered the car, Skye wasted no time and hit the pedal.

The car ride was silent. Grandpa was busy looking over his files, Skye was talking to someone on her earpiece, and I was leaning on the window while my earphones were plugged in. I passed through the wonders of New Hope City, the bus stops, the cafes, the pedestrians, maybe even some of the one's I passed by were my classmates. I wonder how the school year will treat me.

The car stopped on the side of the road. The school was just a walk away. I was about to exit the car until grandpa suddenly grabbed my wrist. I turned to look at him and his face was filled with worry.

"What's wrong gramps? I gotta go."

"Shey," He paused for a moment. He looked at Skye for a quick second and looked back at me. "Please do be careful okay?"

"Huh? Oh sure. No problem." I didn't know what bought up that but grandpas just worried.

I hugged him tightly before stepping out of the car and walking towards school.

Classes went as normal without any interesting stuff happening. Teachers went to the classrooms in each different subject. They just discussed the first lessons of the curriculum. I wasn't really in the zone today. Grandpa seemed weird. First that weird knife, I never pegged him for a knife collector. Second, why was his voice filled with sadness, I didn't do anything that made him disappointed in me, but maybe he was just worried but still, something is definitely going on, probably his work idk. Him and Skye could probably handle it.

Lunch time, my favorite time of the day, has arrived and everyone headed to the cafeteria. It was just our class that filled the area since each class had different time schedules. I lined up to get myself some drinks since I packed my own lunch. After I bought some Coke, I looked for someplace quite. Luckily, there is a table near the door that is empty and away from people. I head straight there in a dash and when I sat down on the chair, someone else sat down the same time as I did.

"Oh um hi." We both said together awkwardly.

Well this is awkward, I wanted to be alone and like some sort of joke by the universe, someone sat with me.

The guy sitting with me has a fat body with blonde hair with green highlights. I think this guy sits behind me on the classroom if I remember correctly. He seems to be minding his own business. It even seems like he doesn't even notice me. He sometimes nods his head and grins like someone is talking to him. Well, I don't really mind, he's being silent and I'm okay with that.

I opened my bag and took out my lunchbox. Inside was cold spaghetti and an apple. I wished I grabbed something sweet earlier. I wonder what the other guy has for lunch. I sneaked a peek on my side and WHOA. He has food enough to feed a whole family! He has Chips, cookies, pastries and one big ass hamburger with a cold ass coke. Gosh, I wonder if I could ask some.

I finished my small meal and whipped out my phone. I blasted some tunes from the Badlands album of Halsey. I hope that guy won't be bothered.

I sang to the lyrics of the song while scrolling through my social media feed. The guy didn't seem to be bothered so that great. I can freely chill here in this spot. He seems chill enough, maybe we'll be friends this school year, maybe.

My peaceful session was suddenly interrupted when someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around to see whoever disturbed me and there were four girls standing ominously, I think they sit on the front row of the classroom. What the hell do they want?

"Hi!" They all greeted in sync, creepy and impressive.

"We're looking for talented people to join our squad and you seem to fit the bill." A dark skinned girl wearing the usual school uniform with very dark green motifs and venomous dark green eyes excitedly spoke. "Oh right I should introduce myself."

"Do you have too?" The short girl with grey lines on her uniform that really pops out her well endowed chest spoke out obnoxiously. "She probably already knows us. We are the leaders of the clubs here in school."

"Hey don't be rude." The tallest and the largest of the group said on the side. "She's probably new here and if you keep up with that attitude, no one will want to join us."

I think it's time for me to speak out now; I really want to go back to my peace and quiet- oh no scratch that, I was blasting my tunes and making the guy probably annoyed.

"Um no, I'm not new here. I was here when I started junior high and yes I already know you all." I turned to face them all. I pointed to the girl that started this conversation. "You're Camilla, one of the leaders of the Dance club."

I pointed to the short girl next. "Katie, leader of the Majorettes,"

Next I pointed at the tall girl. "Isa of the Photography club,"

Then lastly, to the girl who hasn't spoken out yet. She has fiery red tips on her hair and motifs on her uniform. "Chirithy, the president of the Cheer-leading squad."

They looked impressed that I got their names right. Katie then smugly grinned at Isa who then just rolled her eyes in response.

Chirithy cleared her throat and looked at me with her hot red eyes. I have to admit I'm a little bit intimidated by her since this is actually the first time I spoke to her, even if I have heard of her. "It's good to know that you know us. Anyways, let's get down to business. Mind if we sit here?"

I looked at the guy and he still seemed oblivious. He continued eating his food while watching something on his phone. I hope they don't disturb him.

They didn't wait for my response and just slid in to the chairs.

Katie grabbed a handful of chips that the guy ate and shoved him to make way. "Out of the way fatty and move to another table."

The guy looked up from his phone and looked at Katie with annoyance.

Isa glowered at Katie and apologized in her behalf. She actually seems to be a decent person.

It's my fault that he's being disturbed by them right now. I have to make it up to him. "Hey, he's with me."

He looked at me with brief confusion before going along with it. He sat next to me and continued eating like nothing happened.

Camilla looked shocked and then smirked at the guy beside me. "Wait...isn't that the one that Randall hates so much? Damien was it?"

The guy, Damien, froze mid-action and violently looked at Camilla with horror and disgust. His dark eyes looked even darker with despair. Geez, he looks like he saw a ghost. I wonder what his relationship with that guy is.

"I sense tea brewing Cammie, tell us 'bout it." Katie's squeaky voice annoyingly voices out.

Camilla looked at Damien for one last time before moving her attention to me, her poison green eyes looking at me with curiosity. "You have such an amazing voice, and you didn't seem to care that we heard you sing which means you have confidence girl and your trigger, Songbird was it? Helps you with your voice and all that, so that means you're from Glee club right?"

Oh if I have a dollar for every time someone asks me if I'm part of Glee, well, I could probably have the most expensive meal in Mcdonalds.

"No, I'm not part of that club. I really don't have any interest in joining. Seems like a hassle with the practices and all that."

"Well that's too bad; they could really use someone with your skill level."

"For someone so talented...you seem to like sitting in the sidelines." Chirithy softly spoke. "That is so weird, am I right girls?"

The rest mused with "Oh yeah" and "definitely."

I was about to speak up my piece but Katie slammed down her hand and grinned at me, her eyes from what I can tell looked like she's planning something. "So we have a proposition for you then!"

I looked at her, confused. Guess I'll be hearing what they want from me now.

"Join the Glee club, overthrow the leader, and control the club!"

"Wait what? Why?"

Isa, who has been silent for a long time, spoke out. "We want to do something spectacular for the school but the killjoy principal won't allow it."

"What's this something?"

"An extra super duper night party for all students."

"So how do I fit in your grand plan?"

Chirithy propped her elbows on the table and rested her face on her palms. "Well the leaders of the clubs thought that we're doing something bad and so they don't want to mess with us."

Kate obnoxiously added. "Yahhhhh, like we're totally the kindest and bestest people in this school!"

That's rich coming from her. I'm willing to bet that they tried...other methods too but the leaders didn't budge.

Camilla then leaned forward and whispered. "They also don't want to mess with the angry principal...you know how she works right."

"Totally. I know her favoritism to the star students and her bitchiness to the rest."

"Sooooo that's why we want to gather all the clubs to stage a protest. Plus, we have some teachers on our side too."

Their willingness to make their plan work is really impressive. Too bad I'm still not convinced. "Okay but I don't have any interest in joining the Glee club or joining your planned party. What's in it for me?"

Chirithy chuckled in her place. "I like you. You have talent and you have fire." She flipped her hair and gazed at me. "So control over something doesn't interest you, how about...giving you possibilities for your future?"

"What do you mean?" I was totally hooked now. What do they mean about possibilities? How could they- I'm confused.

"We can pull some strings around. Tell us what you need. An easy access to your preferred college, a new club for you, a chance for you to show your talent on stage...whatever you need."

There's a chance for me to shine, a chance for me to sing and to be famous on the internet. The school rarely does singing competitions, only on school festivals and activities. So an all new singing competition, it could be my chance.

But if it's coming from them, then it won't feel like I did hard work. It'll just be them pulling the strings. And I don't want to work for them, they seem like bad news. Even if they conceal themselves, I can still feel their wickedness. I mean Katie is a bitch. Who knows what these other three are capable of. And if people don't want to mess with them, then they must have done something to make the whole school fear them.

"Sorry girls. My answer is no." I looked at them all straight in the eye and smiled. Time to show them I'm not someone they can just pick on easily. "Your offer seems tempting but it seems like a hassle. I don't want any part of it."

"What?!" Katie shrieked. "We made you this generous offer and you're just going to waste it?"

Isa placed her hand on Katie's shoulder. "Hey, we can't always get what we want."

"Sure we can! We have power here! We can do anything!"

"Katie." Chirithy threw out her name with sharpness. "It's okay. We'll just find another candidate." She looked at me with neutrality and a hint of anger. "She knows what she wants and it's her choice."

They all stood up in unison and walked away from the table.

Camilla called out to us before she disappeared from the distance. "Bye Shey and bye Randall's punching bag."

I released a small puff of air and placed a hand on my chest. Geez, it's still the second day and I already have to deal with people like those.

Oh crap the guy, I mean Damien. I faced to the side and looked at him. He stopped eating and he seems to be just looking down at the table, his hair shadowing his angry eyes that could kill with a glare.

I touched him on the shoulder and started apologizing profusely. My apologies went in like a flood since he seemed truly disturbed by what Camilla said.

Without warning he swiftly raised his head and looked at me with a cutesy smile. His eyes still hold that haunted look but it's also mixed with relief. He seemed to have changed moods like that. I waited for him to say something because I was kind of worried there.

"You made the right choice there, not taking their offer."

"You were listening?"

"It's hard to ignore all their annoying voices and Camilla's taunts at me. But I still kept myself in check." He narrows his eyes and puffs his chubby cheeks.

"Again, I'm so so sorry about that. I honestly didn't expect them."

"No worries. It's not your fault. You don't seem to be the kind of person to hang out with them."

I'm starting to like this guy now. I thought he was just some weird kid. "You seem like a pretty chill guy. I'm Sheyla. What's your name?"

"Damien Leigh. Nice to meet cha uwu."

We then continued on to talk about how annoying they are. We gossiped about what we heard and the rumors from the school. We even did some theorizing about their rise to power. He's pretty hilarious. I'm really glad I sat with him this lunch time. But I still don't know anything about that Rainier guy. It could wait for another day. But for now...

I'm set to face this school year with my own hands.

So this is a multi POV story. Hope you dont get confused. Anyways hope your enjoying.
