Reconnection

He did his upper class last exam and he topped in his class, he passed with flying colors. We were so proud of him. We celebrated him for being a hero in our family. He was then called to a top high school in the country. It was a boarding school; we did all the shopping necessary for him that could enable him to run the term. At that time Liam was so jovial and talkative though he was turning 12 years old. My baby girl Celine four years later also did her primary level and she passed well. On the other hand, his brother Liam had done his senior levels and therefore, we were expecting good results for them both. When the results came, everyone had a smile on their faces, they had passed very well. I thanked them for never being lazy in class. Liam got the first grade and joined a public university while Celine joined a National girls school in the country.

Liam was at his teenage stage and at this stage children are more stubborn, they are in their experimental stage. He was now going to join a university. Actually, it was successful and he started higher learning.

Liam was on a long holiday, when I was least expecting, one fine morning he told me he was going out with one of her classmates.on a weekend. He told me, he was coding for one of her course mates. I denied him a chance. I didn't see it coming because he was still young. That night I told her mother about it.

My wife was cold and calm and took the matter with a lot of keenness. She told me, we shouldn't dinie him an opportunity to mingle with ladies, she added, if we act hostile he might do it in secret.

The following day,I called Liam and talked to him. Among them, I advised him to bring the lady to our house so that everyone should know her, just in case of any problem we would have already known her Identity and we can have a clue on what to say or start from. The following weekend Liam came home with one fine lady, she was of medium height, and light skin.

In my mind I thought she knew how to select like his father. My wife welcomed them to our house and she served them a soft drink, after that we directed them to our visitor's room. When lunchtime came we all gathered in the dining room, we eat together after which we told Liam to introduce the visitor.

He said she's Jasmine doing the same course as him. Liam was pursuing a bachelor of commerce. He loved matter with Finance and accounts like nothing else. After lunch, Jasmine wanted to leave since it was the distance from our apartment to her places

The two walked out of the house as my wife followed closely behind, this made me recite one of my most liked poems from one famous poet.

After having some meditation, I thought of my two stepchildren who went away with my house help. I had deleted their mother's numbers and had no trace to find them. I get bad and cruel as a human being. I regretted being involved in such an act. I thought of them very widely. I felt they needed me the most. I thought of their education, health, and parental care, I knew I had already sinned and I don't have to be forgiven.

The following week, I decided to go and find them from their Village since they were from a certain Village nearby which could take almost three to four hours to reach. I knew I had to accept my mistakes and I had to live with them. The children had no idea and they are innocent hence they deserve the best. They deserve to see their father. I thought of telling my wife about it but deep down I knew she would get frustrated and even she can go ahead and park her belongings and go back home. Therefore, I needed a good procedure on how to approach her and make her believe I had already made a mistake, and whatever punishment she is going to give me I will accept as long as I will be forgiven. The day came and I started my journey early in the morning having a photocopy of her identity card. The journey was tiresome and by 11:00am I was in the village. I had no clue where to find him but I believed and hoped everything would be okay. On arrival, maybe my Guardian angel was watching, so I decided to ask one of the people who were on my way,if they could have some Clue about them. Luckily, one of them had a clue. He told me, I was just near their homestead, that was not enough, so I requested him to take me there.

I wanted to be sure. I also interrogated that man if he had ever seen two children who resembled me or if they were like twins. He admitted that the woman has two perfect children and I think they all look like twins. After like 30 minutes of instant interrogation, we reached the gate of one homestead, there were two big houses.

The man excused himself and I thanked him for helping me. I took some cash and gave it to him for being kind to him. I opened the gate slowly without making any noises. I didn't know what would happen. I might get punished badly for neglecting my responsibility for 5 years now. I wished this could not have happened but as we all know once water is poured can't be collected again. After opening the gate, the first thing my eyes landed on was the two fine children, a girl and a boy. They were playing happily. Immediately they set their eyes on me, they stared at me in surprise and in a strange manner. I thought I was a worm in their food.🥲
