Rewards halved

One of the enemies threw an explosive kunai at the fireball when they saw it approaching them. The explosion pushed them to the side, and they protected their heads with their arms.

When they stopped, and the smoke dissipated, they suddenly saw Sasuke and Naruto approaching from the sides. They split up to face them and swung their ninja tools at them, and Naruto blocked the attack by using several clones. Sasuke moved to the side after activating the Sharingan and then elbowed the ninja weapon.

The enemy opened his eyes when he saw those scarlet pupils, he tried to pull away and run, but Sasuke grabbed the enemy's elbow and then kicked his chin. When the enemy fell, Sasuke grabbed a kunai and moved to stab the enemy's neck, but another arm suddenly grabbed him.

"That is enough," Kakashi said. "They have been captured already."

Another Kakashi clone had stopped Naruto as well… Sasuke wondered if she had done the right thing, killing someone to see how many training orbs he would get. Then again, renegade ninjas were the lowest of the low, so it didn't matter if they died or not.

You captured two rogue ninjas. Rewards halved.

You obtained one hundred training orbs.

It seemed that he didn't waste all his time by fighting those guys. In any case, Kakashi tied up the guys and questioned them. Sasuke already knew who was behind that, so it didn't matter.

"Wait here; I will take those guys to the prison," Kakashi said. "Things should be fine… low lives like this wouldn't attack us without their full force."

Kakashi disappeared again alongside the prisoners. Sakura and Tazuna got a bit tense since they didn't take Kakashi's words at face value. Sasuke wished that he had taken the ninja tools that those guys had, but maybe he won't have to worry about that, and Kakashi would bring them.

"Kakashi doesn't look reliable, but he is one of the strongest jounins of the village with twenty-plus years of experience as a shinobi… the chances of him being wrong are slim to none," Sasuke added.

"You sure are well informed, kid," Tazuna said. "You are also pretty calm… I heard that you three became shinobi recently… your training must be quite something."

"More or less," Sasuke shrugged. "Anyway, for how long will you need to work on the bridge?"

"Two weeks… perhaps a bit more if more people gave up on guarding the place," Tazuna said and then sighed. "You all asked to join the mission, but I am sorry for asking kids to risk their lives for this old man."

In the end, Kakashi returned after half an hour, and they began to move again. Nothing happened in the next few days, and then the group reached the ocean and then took a boat to the land of the waves after five days. Since they had to stay focused, Sasuke didn't have time to train, but he felt like asking Kakashi to teach him some genjutsu techniques.

"Maybe we should wait and do that chakra training… I will be able to move faster that way," Sasuke thought.

Along the way, Sasuke also tried to kill time, but he failed since he didn't know the basics, and they could only be learned while trying to walk on the trees. He soon forgot about that, though… when the mist began to dissipate, and they saw the bridge ahead.

"I need to focus on Zabuza… we will be able to train more if Kakashi isn't taken down by that guy," Sasuke thought.

"We weren't attacked in the last few days, but things will change now," Kakashi declared. "I can say that the enemies will probably come at us with their elites now. Until we reach Mister Tazuna's house, we will have to be on extreme guard."

"Things are getting serious, huh…" Tazuna said and then gulped.

"You can rest easy, I might not look like it, but I won't lose to likes of criminals that you will find at the bottom of the bingo book," Kakashi said. "Zabuza might be a problem, but he won't have a good support like I will have. His fighting style also doesn't improve when others are with him, and he is the lone wolf type, so he will come alone."

Kakashi was really bad at comforting the others. Still, Tazuna looked a bit more calm… after they jumped from the boat, the group began to head toward Tazuna's house. Instead of crossing the town, they took a roundabout path in a forest since Kakashi didn't want to involve innocent people in the next battle.

The forest was quite silent, so Sasuke realized that he reached the area where the ambush was going to take place… Zabuza had cleaned the place knowing that they would follow that path.

"He is here… I guess this is for the best," Kakashi said when the mist began to surround the area. "Keep a tight formation around Mister Tazuna… don't move no matter what… you might get caught in the find, and things won't end pretty."
