Legionna

Kai POV

My head is tingling with pain. I cannot think of anything at all.

I opened my eyes to find myself behind logs of metal bars that were as thick as a tree.

The smell of blood and sweat conquered my sense of smell. I held in my breath and attempted to look around.

However, it was pitch black. No light to be found even in the crooks and cranny of this whole area.

Although it was faint, I could hear the jingle and clang of metal.

"Finally awake?" A voice asked me as his head peeked out from the darkness. There was hostility in his voice.

"Where am I?"

"Shut up kid. You don't get to ask the questions, stay silent and move when I tell you to." He snapped, taking out the keys.

"I'll tell them we're bringing him in. Cuff him right, if anything goes wrong your head is on the pole next." Another voice said.

The man walked closer to me slowly, bringing heaps and heaps of metal cuffs. Using it on me as if I was some sort of wild beast.

I bit on my tongue hard to fight the urge of fighting back. I was in no position or condition to do so.

Soon after, I was pulled through the gate with the chains that jagged at my neck. I struggled to breathe as my legs dragged behind my body.

Everytime I passed by someone, I was met with either a remark or an insult. It was never silent, they seemed as if they had a lot on their minds.

Made me wonder what I had really done. I had just surrendered willingly so what was the problem here?

The large dark oak wood door in front of me had carvings of a dragon that seemed surreal. Yet I could sense something lifelike inside its marble eyes.

It was disturbing. And I know this feeling, it felt exactly like deja vu.

But I had no time to waste on such thoughts like that, as I was immediately pushed and dragged across the floor into the large room.

It replicated a ballroom but took on a much darker form.

The chandeliers blazed with fire but it only produced a low red glow that illuminated a small portion of the room.

And the patterns on the floor weren't smooth at all. They felt rough, like scales almost. They scratched and clung onto my skin.

"Greet him." The man who dragged me here ordered, sounding nervous.

Greet who exactly? I couldn't see anyone with this dim lighting. But I know there was someone there. I could feel a strange eerie sensation that scorched through my body.

"Kai Whitlock. You look like a replication from the first." A voice echoed. It sounded oddly soothing to the ears. Yet..it felt itchy somehow.

"What do you need from me?"

"I did plenty of research on you when you were sleeping. I know all of your history from before and now even. It's so tragic, how pitiful."

That person was ridiculing me.

"I'm glad it touched your heart, sir."

"I would love to know more in depth. Care to elaborate?"

It was taking me all my willpower to not stand up and do something I know I'll regret.

"We aren't close enough for that. So cut to the chase, mister."

The man didn't reply for a while. "I need someone trustworthy. I can mend and create such a person, but it can never replace someone with undying resentment and hatred after years of experience."

"So you're saying that-" Before I could finish my sentence I felt the thick harsh cold metal grasp at my throat as I began to be pulled back by a persistent force.

And a small whisper trickled into my ears. "Watch your attitude. And don't cut in between our King."

"Thank you." Then he continued. "I want you to work for me. As if you're my hands and feet. I want you to be my spy in Iotux."

"And what do I get in return?"

"Multiple benefits..I can't even count."

I wasn't sure why. But the more this man spoke. The clearer his figure became. He sat cross legged on the throne with his body relaxed.

And his face..he had a mask that covered the uppermost part of his face. However, even the mask couldn't hide his blood red eyes that complimented the room atmosphere well.

As if this whole place was made for and by him.

"Kai. Don't you want power fast? The long route you thought ahead with Aurora Meyer is risky. She isn't a woman to be trusted."

"How do you know?" I blurted out, taken by surprise.

"You're an easy person to understand. We're similar in ways. Too many ways. So give it up."

"Without knowing what you are?" I asked, feeling as if I've been made a fool. "Take me seriously now."

The man's lips twisted into a gentle smile. "Legionna."

From that point on, my mind went blank. Legionna? That story? Is this person joking with me? But..they all seemed so serious. I just might be out of my mind to believe this.

For these 'people' around me, don't even feel and look like one anymore.

The land of Legionna is a fairytale everyone in Ioxtux knows. For it is told in every school as a story to be remembered. Many books were published based on the main book on Legionna and many were read and loved.

As they taught a very important lesson in life. Though the configured land of Legionna may not be true to some, it still brought a lifelong lesson.

The monsters in Legionna were strong and undefeatable and feared by humans. They had a long reign in the past but many were blinded by wealth and power.

Humans used this to their advantage and spent generations producing yellow dye as they painted rocks with them and polished them.

A cave was filled with these shiny gold rocks to the brim, however it was deep underwater. But it didn't take long for it to be discovered by the monsters.

The monsters immediately dispatched a mission to obtain these gold but the news spread from village to village quickly. And every monster gathered and went underwater for the gold.

The rocks were heavy as they were chained to the ground by humans. But it couldn't be easily seen and noticed. The monsters were so blinded by these gold they didn't know they were drowning.

Humans with magic cooperated and froze the uppermost part of the sea and made sure it was as thick as possible. No monsters could break through the ice with their weakening strength.

And monsters that were left over were killed by groups and groups of humans who worked together as one. But in the end, no one was left alive in Legionna except for one man.

And humanity 'won' yet again with their power of unity.

The man made this fairytale in Iotux as soon as he 'traveled' out of the cursed land. When he had finally published it, he had died from old age.

The fairytale was a hit amongst the locals as it gained immense popularity, making it a well known and loved fairytale that brought an important lesson to their children.

No matter how strong and undefeatable you are, you cannot escape from the wrath of greed.

"It's true about Legionna monsters being greedy. You want to conquer Iotux. Don't you?" My brain clicked with realisation as the picture lined up perfectly.
