The Jail Cell

"I am tired of going places already…" Pin complained

They sat in a jail cell together. Pin rubbed the bridge of his nose, the pain in his wrist was killing him and his legs felt weak. He was exhausted, starving, and dehydrated. Rania stared at him curiously.

Pin looked around the cell and noticed that the window in front of them was open revealing another hallway. He tried to push himself into standing to investigate further but his knees trembled causing his whole body to shake.

"We had to be stuck here of all places," Pin asked his voice barely audible.

They sat in silence. Pin was unable to move because his wrists were secured behind his back with what looked to be a chain of sorts. Rania didn't even look like she moved at all. Pin sighed and gave up trying to get up, it wasn't happening and he honestly felt exhausted.

"The thing is do they have abilities here?" Pin asked.

"I am not sure…" She mumbled.

"Well if we need to fight back, we are screwed," Pin groaned.

The only reason he survived this far was thanks to the protection Rania provided and he really didn't want to think of how many times she has to protect him from enemies who may attack them later.

'At least Rania's powers can help us with that,' He thought.

"We were chased into a corner meaning this corner and now we're stuck!" Rania shouted.

"You are joking right?" Pin laughed.

"Gonna beg them to death?" She argued.

He walked up to the bars staring directly into her eyes as he leaned in close. Their faces weren't inches apart.

"Listen, we might not have a choice, so we will just have to suck it up, deal?" Pin asked.

She didn't respond but nodded, but he could hear the frustration in her voice.

"Whatever…" Rania whispered.

Pin forgot quickly they were chained making him unable to move around. He glared at her for a bit before looking back outside to watch. The sounds of chatter filled the room, along with the hum of machines and equipment. It reminded him of the first time he saw machines.

He looked across the room and realized that the prison guard was talking to someone. They were speaking in hushed voices so he couldn't understand much of what they were saying, although he caught the word 'revelation' thrown in once or twice. He continued watching, waiting for the opportunity to slip out without him noticing.

Rania looked bored as well but unlike him, she seemed determined. Her fingers twitched slightly as she gripped the bars tightly in anticipation. Pin watched how her eyes darted around, searching and hoping. If only she had been able to see the things that he did. A small smile tugged on his lips thinking of the possibilities.

Calmly he tapped his fingers on the bed in time to the beat that was playing inside his head. He closed his eyes taking a deep breath in. The song ended and there was silence.

They heard the cell open to the woman they saw the day before walking into the room. Pin opened his eyes and met her gaze. The woman smiled at him sweetly, but it did nothing to ease his nerves.

"You are Pin I take it," She asked.

"And what if I am?" He questioned.

"You've never been to this part of reality and now it seems fitting," The woman laughed.

Pin became angry as he charged forward. The woman jumped out of the way and dodged the hit easily. She grabbed the collar of Pin's hoodie and slammed him against the wall, pinning him there. Pin struggled underneath her grip trying desperately to break free. Her hand went to his throat. Pin gasped and stopped moving, she held him there effortlessly.

"Pin!" Rania shouted.

The guards rushed in holding their spears ready. Pin struggled under her grip, but it did no good; he was helpless. Rania looked at him pleadingly, but he simply shook his head. The woman tightened her hold on his neck slowly choking him out. Pin started struggling violently, but it was no use. The woman kept on holding his shoulders firmly with her free hand. He closed his eyes not wanting to see anything else as he took his last breath.

"Not worth my damn time!" She shouted.

Tossing him to the floor with great strength she turned away from Pin completely ignoring him. Pin lay on his side trying to catch his breath. The guards pushed Rania out of the room slamming the door shut after her. The guards stood in front of the door guarding it from the outside.

"Don't try anything funny, kid," One of them threatened as he glared daggers at Pin.

Pin didn't reply glaring back in anger. All he wanted to do was escape. Why were they keeping him here? They could have just killed him already, but why torture him and Rania instead?! How dare they! Pin knew that they were planning something...something big. And he wouldn't let it happen; he would make sure that they paid dearly.

"If these people are the ones in charge then Rania is in danger," He growled.

Concentrating his chant silently on the chains. Suddenly the metal snapped loudly making both the soldiers look at him curiously. Pin ignored them and looked towards the ground below the bars, he closed his eyes and focused harder on pulling on the chains as hard as he could. He heard the click of the locks releasing. Pin quickly ran over to the bars and pulled with all his might.

"What the hell do you think you are doing?" The guard shouted.

"I am bored…what do I look like I am doing?" Pin yelled back.

He gritted his teeth together and strained every muscle in his body. The chains fell to the ground letting out a loud clanking noise. Pin yanked off the shackles on his ankles freeing his legs as well as his wrists. He stumbled to his feet, rubbing his wrists and ankles to relieve some of the stiffness. Looking over his shoulder he could feel the guards' eyes burning holes through his skull, he didn't want to acknowledge them so he simply turned away.

A crowd of guards gathered around he couldn't remember the name of the one who attacked them, but he had the distinct feeling that he had seen him somewhere before. This man was taller than all the others and his dark brown skin was covered in scars. There were also a few other scars littering his face; maybe he was the leader. Pin studied him carefully, his blue eyes scanning for any telltale sign of malice. Nothing about him screamed malice but he was still cautious.

"If I could beat you will let me go?" Pin questioned.

They all laughed.

"No way you little bastard! You will be serving your sentence in the dungeon," Another one replied.

"Then kill me right here! I'd rather go home!" He yelled.

"Quiet down!" A new voice commanded.

It belonged to an old man. His white hair hung limply over his shoulders and his grey skin made him look more sickly than usual. He wore a long flowing black robe that flowed behind him as he approached Pin. He raised a hand and everyone stood at attention until he spoke again.

"Will you fight me?" Pin snickered.

"What?" The older man said confused.

"Fight me!" Pin shouted.

"I said shut up!" He roared.

"Or what? You'll tie me down again so you can beat the crap out of me?" He chuckled.

The older man suddenly got angry and threw Pin against the cell bars. Pin grunted as he hit the wall. He quickly picked himself up and brushed his clothes off. The others followed his example. The old man stared down at him with an angry expression on his face. Something about this guy really crept Pin out. Not because he was threatening or scary, but because the old man's aura was just so off-putting. Something about him was not quite right, it almost seemed like he wasn't human.

He felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up straight and sweat run down his forehead. Pin shook his head. What the hell was going on here? He needed to get out of here, quick!

As he tried getting his thoughts clear again the old man spoke:

"Now where were we?" He began smiling. "Ah yes, you were saying something about fighting me?"

Before anyone could say anything, the old man lunged at Pin shoving him roughly back into the wall. Pin was knocked onto his butt as he rolled around on the concrete floor. The other guards backed away scared by what was happening as a large cloud of smoke billowed out of the old man's mouth causing the other prisoners to fall to their knees.

"What the fuck…" Pin muttered.

coughing and gagging. Pin managed to roll over onto his hands and knees. His breathing became heavy, he couldn't seem to stop coughing as he struggled to get up. Suddenly he lost his balance tripping over his own two feet and falling face down on the ground.
