Chapter 1

I could hear the wooden planks moan and wail as they fell on the ground turning into black ashes, lifeless. The walls were engulfed by the forever hungry flames. Smoke poured out of the windows and chimney and into the sky turning it grey and dull. Voices of screams and shouts could be heard from afar. I stood there, all tattered and burned, just staring at it. I suddenly felt my younger sister's trembling hand in my hand. I squeezed it tightly and hugged her. She started sobbing loudly and was tightly hugging me not letting go. I wanted to remain firm and be a strong support to my sister but even I couldn't help it, tears started flowing from my eyes as I tried to push them back. Nothing remained of what we had, Nothing.

"Why is arent day coming? Why??!!"

My sister wailed.

Yes, no one from the town was coming.

Suddenly I heard sounds of stepping from somewhere behind the house. I clenched Amy's mouth shut and ran and hid in the tall grass nearby.

"I swear I heard that little runt!!" said a heavy voice. "

"Come on Jack, those are just little girls, how could they have escaped the fire?" asked a raspy voice.

"Yeah.! They were a nuisance, already our Kingdom is finished due to the war, and then that foreign bastard came with his two daughters to settle here. Tsk! He was so annoying, good thing he's gone for good." grunted the man who was supposed to be Jack.

"Let's leave before he returns, we did what the mayor ordered".

I froze for a moment. What? Order? Mayor?. I couldn't believe that they would just ignore foreign people for resources and cannot even feed two small hungry mouths.

I refrained from doing anything rash. Father will come tomorrow so he will deal with it. I glanced at Amethyst. She had passed out by all the commotion and crying. I carried her on my back and made my way through into a bit denser part of the forest. I knew that if I and Amy went to ask for any help, the mayor might get us caught and kill us so there was no use to go to the town and secondly if father came early I had to warn him or he might also get killed.

It was all on me for tonight. I lay Amethyst somewhere comfortable on the ground and went to search for anything which might help for the night. I went deep into the forest and searched every bush or plant I could find. Though it was scary because of the darkness of the night and the voices of animals, I still kept on looking. I found some berry bushes that I remembered Father told me were edible. I plucked as many as I could and gathered them all in a pouch I kept with myself. I returned where Amethyst lay and saw she had woken up. She was searching for me and also crying.

"Mwooonstoone!!!! where are you!!!"She called out as she cried.

"I am here stop crying, I went to find some food. Oh hey, don't rub your snot on me!!" I moaned.

She hugged me and rubbed her face in my stomach. I sighed, after what had happened I think she has the right to stick with me all the time.

" Alright, I brought some tasty berries!! Want some?"

I asked as I sat down and beckoned her to sit too.

"Mn," She agreed and sat on my lap.

I opened the pouch and she put her tiny hand inside and grabbed whichever berry seemed close to purple.

"Oi doesn't eat only the purple ones, the other is also tasty, and don't grab them so hard, they'll get squashed and your hands will get dirty," I told her.

"But I only want the purpe ones." She mumbled as she chewed.

"Alright," I nodded.

We lied down to sleep. I drowned off thinking about my father.

I woke up in the morning. I looked around tired.

"What am I doing in the fore- Father!!! I need to find him!! Or else... "

I ran all the way to the burnt house, but there was no father.

"M-moonstone?!!" a heard a voice.

I swung around to see who it was. It was the son of Mrs. Padparadscha, Bixbite.

"Oh, h-hi!" I stuttered.

He ran to me, took hold of my hand tightly and ran into the woods with me. We ran a long time and when we were far in the forest he stopped. He took hold of my shoulders

" What Are You doing here?!! T-the mayor said that all of your family was killed in the fire....." He exclaimed.

"Except my father who was gone on a trip, I believe everybody is safe and sound" I replied.

"Y-your father... The mayor told us that your father was involved in some dark matters so he was ordered by royals to execute him. The mayor sent men after him and told us that he was killed...M-moonstone how....." His voice trailed away

I stood there shocked in horror. I couldn't believe my ears.

"WHAT? MY FATHER??? DARK MATTERS??"

I started trembling in rage and fury.

"M-moonstone? Are you okay?" He reached his hand toward me.

"DONT TOUCH ME!!" I pushed him away and he fell to the ground.

"JUST BECAUSE WE ARE FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE, JUST BECAUSE WE ARE DAMN FOREIGN, I AND MY FAMILY was NEVER GIVEN RESPECT!!! EVERYONE IN THE TOWN IS CRAZY!! THIS HAPPENED ALL BECAUSE OF THEM!! I SWEAR BY THE NAME OF THE CELESTIALS WHO PROTECT THE HEAVENS AND EARTH I'LL KILL EVERYONE OF THEM" I shouted at him.

He sat there looking at me in terror.

"I-I... Uh, Moonstone what's a Celestial?" He asked.

I suddenly stopped and covered my mouth.

" Weren't Celestials spirits of the sycamore people??" He asked as he stood up.

I didn't reply. I was in major shock at what had happened. Firstly because I seriously couldn't believe my father was killed. And secondly, because I now had literally nothing to survive with.

"M...dunno.." I shrugged my shoulders.

"Uh...Really Moonstone where are you from? and what happened to you?"He enquired.

I stared at him and then smiled. I went near him and grabbed his neck.

" Whatever I am isn't any of your business, is it servant? Listen to me closely, I'm going to go away from here but remember I will come back and avenge both my father and my mother's death. If I have to finish a whole town or whole Kingdom, so be it"

I gritted my teeth.

He struggled as he tried to loosen my grip. In the struggle, he tore my sleeves. I laughed. I let go of his neck and threw him on the ground. I suddenly heard voices from afar.

"Search if the other one is still alive!!"

and other voices but between all that I heard someone's voice which was quite clear.

"MWOOONSTOONE!!!!"

It was Amethyst!!! I left her unguarded!! I swung around to meet four huge men, one had Amethyst dangling from her neck. I furiously started running towards him.

"LET HER GO!!".

Suddenly I felt a sharp nudge on the side of my head which sent me flying. I crashed in a nearby tree.

"MWOONSTONE!!!" Amethyst shouted.

She bit that man in his torso violently. He yowled in pain and let go of her. She ran towards me but she was kicked violently and she fell to the ground. One of them walked up to her.

" Why you little brat!!" He exclaimed.

And he then did something. Something horrendous. He raised his foot high and crashed it on her knee. He continued stomping as Amethyst screamed. Her screams made all the birds leave the trees in fright. I sat there staring at the man in pure horror and rage. Then when he was done with her he started walking towards me. I was terrified and angry. He came near me and grabbed me by the collar and started dragging me.

"Let's finish these two now!!" he shouted.

" LET ME GO, YOU, LET ME GO!!" I screamed.

"SHUT UP" he shouted.

I struggled and tried to hit him but to no avail. One of the men spoke up

"Let's leave the white one to be eaten by the beasts shall we? While this one can be personally taken care of by the mayor".

I furiously glared at him. They all agreed on that. The man which was dragging me let go of me and they started walking away with Amethyst and they also picked up the fainted Biximite. She started screaming and crying.

"DONT YOU DARE!!"

I yelled as I got up again despite having a few shattered bones and started dashing towards them. Suddenly one swung around and punched me on the side of my head. It was so violent that my senses and vision became a blur. I fell to the ground as my mind started losing consciousness. I reached out my hand to Amethyst as I lay there. If only I had power. More strength. If only I wasn't so naive to have left Amethyst. I just need more power.....mo...re...p....wer.

I suddenly woke up into a place that looked like a white room except everywhere you went there would be no end but endless white. I was floating in the air then I heard a voice.

"Hm..... Do you really wish to avenge your sister's pain"

"wh-who are you?" I questioned.
