Consequences Be Damned

MALACHAI

I opened my eyes and acknowledged that I'd slept better than I ever have. I looked down at my little flower. She smelled like honey and gardenias, her body was sprawled over mine and I couldn't help but laugh or ignore the faint sense of guilt.

Last night, I had to do everything I could not to take her. I wanted to take this slow so she could adjust to everything and it wasn't time yet and nothing was in place but I wasn't sure I could anymore. The memories of last night came flooding back, her blood was the most heavenly thing I had ever tasted and it shocked even me that I was able to stop myself at all.

I wanted this, to fall asleep holding her and wake up with her sleeping on top of me. I wanted it forever, but I couldn't give up what I've been working for and the fact that my mind was otherwise occupied with another. I was already late and so I got out from under her and went to get ready. I would tell the someone to wake her up later.

I was well aware that her scent was all over me so I had to shower real good and drown it in cologne. I hoped my own scent would wash off as well because we would have a problem if it didn't. Not that I didn't enjoy the fact that every male would smell me on her, no it's because I didn't want him smelling me on her.

I met the others in the dinning hall for breakfast. They all gave me knowing looks and winks assuming Morgan and I had been together. They were right in a way. Demetre as always was oblivious to what was going on around him and I couldn't be more grateful. While we all talked about different things he sighed in irritation and left the table probably going to get laid somewhere.

MORGAN

I woke up to an empty bed. It was ten in the morning so I understood why. I rolled on to kai's side of the bed in an effort to go back to sleep but a piece of paper caught my eye.

Good morning little flower, I went downstairs for breakfast. Please get ready as soon as possible and come join us, and wash yourself more than usual to get my scent off you. Demetre might catch on to it.

-love Kai.

I groaned and got out of bed. I really didn't want to watch him off me but fie now I'd have no choice. I went back to my room and looked for something appropriate to wear when my door opened.

"Back so soon after leaving me to wake up on my own?" I called from the closet but there was no answer. I felt someone behind me and when I turned I was met with a very pissed off golden eyed Demetre.

"I can smell him all over you, just like you're all over him," he seethed. My heart leapt to my throat. No encounters with him in the state ended well.

His gaze went to my neck and he looked even more enraged if that was even possible. "HE BIT YOU?!" Demetre roared and all of the sudden my head whipped to the side. Before I could register what had happened he wrapped his hand around my neck, cutting off my oxygen supply.

I tried to loosen his grip on my neck but instead he flung me across the room. My entire body ached as fear took over I was going to scream for Kai but he kicked me in the stomach knocking the wind out of me. Another kick to the ribs, followed by a sickening crack. I screamed in agony, Demetre turned me on to my back and forced my legs apart.

A new found fear made itself known. He positioned himself between them and pinned me down. I couldn't speak, I couldn't move. He bent down and licked that same spot where Kai had bitten me last night. Bile rose up to my throat accompanied by violent sobs and shame. He couldn't take what was mine to give. "Please, don't do this," I sobbed but he didn't budge.

He bit down aggressively and a violent scream ripped from my throat. It all happened so fast, so fast that my body and mind couldn't even register what happened. I was burning, it felt like scorching flames licked the inside of my veins. I screamed one last time and went quiet.

The weight was thrown off me. The wild flames raged on but I just stared at the ceiling above me. I heard voices, familiar ones but they seemed so far away. I felt cold for a while and darkness started to appear in the corner of my eyes. I was going to die, but then the pain came back tenfold and my body thrashed and I felt my throat close making me beg for air.

MALACHAI

When we saw the scene before us, all I could see was red. I ripped him off her and started to bash his face in. Punch after punch and he didn't retaliate. "Fight back dammit," but just looked at me with a feral smile. My bond with her was putting my beast in a frenzy.

"She'll be dead in a matter of minutes," he said and that's when I came back to my senses. I let him go and just stood there. Her body convulsed and when she turned I saw it. The bite, his bite. I cradled her and fell apart. She couldn't leave me, not now. Not ever. I had so much planned and she wss the key to it all but the mste bond wss also working, making me desperate. "CASSANDRA!!!" I yelled as my voice cracked at the end. "No, no, no, Morgana stay with me please. Please stay with me don't close your eyes."

Cassandra appeared instantly and started working on her already noticing the bite. She tried multiple spells but nothing worked. "No," she said "wvit," and her gremoire appeared. She rarely used it, for anything. Pages flipped as she tried every possible spell that was in there but nothing helped. It's like something wasn't allowing her magic to work on her.

She kept trying and now she too was crying. "Come on!" She screamed. Morgan's heart beat kept getting weaker by the minute, it kept doing so until any of us could barely hear it. Suddenly Cassy's head whipped to the side as she started talking in another language none of us could understand and then she nodded. Her eyes became completely black as she uttered something in that same strange tone.

When she was done she collapsed but Mia caught her before she could hit the floor. I gasped as I heard her heart beating the way it should, she was okay just asleep. I was overwhelmed with emotion. Demetre just sat there, my anger came back but this time I controlled my temper.

"Get the fuck off my land before I kill you dog," I said calmly, but everyone knew that if I got mad now we would be preparing for war tomorrow morning. He stood and walked out. I carried her and bowed to the rest of my friends before walking to my room. Tears escaped my eyes as the thought of her dying ruined me; it wasn't supposed to but it did. "Oh come on, it'll take more than that to take her out," some said beside me. He was the same man in her dreams with. He stared at her smiling, "who are you?"

He looked at me and I could feel the power rolling off him in waves. "A friend," he said and vanished.

After cleaning her up and dressing her, I went to Cassy's room. Though grateful I needed to know what the fuck that was.

I was about to waltz in like I always did when I heard voices. "You can't tell anyone yet," his voice said, "I know but Malachai has a right to know, we have to tell him," she hissed. "Can we talk about this later, I don't get to stay in this world for very long without a host, I just want to hold you before I have to go back."

Insensitive? yes. I walked in and found the same man from earlier. "Why is it that you never knock Malachai?" She asked.

"You said there's something I have a right to know, what is it?" The man sighed, "Malachai, there are some things about Morgan that you don't know yet and it's for good reason. In her current state if the information about who she is gets out it's going to make things very complicated so you have to wait because if even she finds out prematurely she could Los her mind onve the seal is broken, so please understand." I left them to themselves, it was funny they thought I didn't already know.

Days later...

I was on the verge of sleep when a hand ran through my hair. The summit was over, everyone else had gone back to their homes, Demetre was awfully quiet and she was still unconscious. My train of thought broke once I realized what was happening.

I lifted my head and found her staring down at me. "Hi," she simply said and before I knew it I was out of my chair and hugging the kide out of her. "You really have a knack for slipping into comas huh?" I laughed. She was about to say something when her stomach growled and made her favw turn cherry red. "Stay here little flower, I'll cook you something," I left her in bed not before stealing a kiss.

MORGAN

I wasn't dazed when I woke up this time. The dream I had was weird though, I spent it with a woman I had never seen before but felt like I knew her nonetheless. I enjoyed every bit but when I thought about how Kai must have been suffering waiting for me to wake up I had to come back.

He was taking long, wherever he was and so I decided to go look for him. If he was cooking himself then he was still in this wing.

I walked out if the room not caring that I was only wearing his shirt. After all it was just us two. My mind went back to the last time it was just us and I bit my lip. I went around a corner and it was a dead end. "Man, how big is this place?" I turned around and stopped right in my tracks. I recognized that lady, she was one of his royal witches.

She walked towards me with a sorrowful expression, "I'm sorry Morgan, I didn't have a choice," Lilly grabbed me and covered my mouth. Black smoke covered us as we stared sinking into the ground, the last thing I saw Kai walking right passed us.

When the smoke disappeared we stood in an office I knew all too well. She excused herself and left me alone with the devil.

"Welcome home my queen."
