Chapter 3: The Sister's Vow

Near the southern part of the Moniyan Empire, inside a small cottage of the Moon Lake, where the Elves lived, two sisters were fighting for their lives.

"You mindless buffoons! Release my sister!"

"Sister, help me!" with her tears cascading down, they chained and treated the young elf like an animal.

"Selena!" The girl's face went red with rage, "You monsters! We were loyal to the Dark Elves, how could you do this to us?!"

"Loyal? Your sister dabbled in devious magic to attain immortal beauty! She deserves to be sacrificed for the glory of our kin."

The girl's face turned cold, making her face lovely face even more enchanting, "Hah! You are the ones sacrificing people to trade for that powerful Dark Energy! Such pretentiousness is expected, that's why the Moon God abandoned us..."

"Enough with the talking," another man spoke. "We have to proceed with the trial."

"No! I will not let you get away with taking my sister. You have to go over my dead body!"

"Sister, leave this place... So that at least one of us will survive," the girl sobbed. "Go! Please..."

"I'm tired of all this crying and sobbing!" The oldest among the three ordered, "Amras! Amrod! I'll leave that girl to you, I'll proceed to the trial with this one."

"I, Karina, am one of the best among the Dark Elves, and my assassinations were always carried out to perfection. I would not stand idly by and allow you demons to hurt my own sister!"

The brave elf fought off her own people using her twin shadow blades, but even she could not resist the siege of the Dark Elves. Beaten to the brink of death, Karina watched as her sister was taken away by the envoys of the Shadow Abyss.

'Selena...'

Powerless, she felt her vision gradually blurring as her younger sister's cries became more and more distant. Sorrow and despair filled her heart.

'Please grant me strength and might to survive this ordeal and save my sister... Moon God, I need you... Please help me.'

As the two elves raised their swords to end the girl's life, they were shocked to discover a dim blue glow radiating from the twin shadow blades in her hands.

Although the Dark Elves had abandoned him for thousands of years, the Moon God still watched over the Elves, and granted Karina the strength she needed.

"What's happening?!" Amrod's face turned white and ashen.

Amras felt fear creep in his bones, "Let's get out of here!"

A soft and gentle power trickled down into the girl's body, cleansing the dark energy within her and healing her wounds. She stood up and made an oath, "I swear on my life that I, Karina, wielder of the Shadow Blades, will right the wrongs of my people. And I shall purge those demons that dared to harm my family!" From that day on, no demon would escape the retribution of her Moonshadow blades.
