"Major First Class Helrich??? No, it's not like th—"

A high ranking officer suddenly showed up

"Major, this is the last day you'd be working here in the headquarters. Because of the indecent games you've been playing here in the Headquarters, the Line 1 of the frontlines fell to the hands of the revenants, be ashamed that you are a Major Rank Officer."

"Who are you to say that!!"

"You may never step in here again, Major."

First Class Major Helrich flashed a paper in the face of the Major with an official stamp of the Minister.

"No! No! It can't be"

"Yes, It CAN be! Guards!! Take this eyesore with you outside!!!"

Before I knew it, the Major was arrested and dragged out off the room.

"Liutenant Minoru, I'm really sorry for what happened. I'll be sure you will be in good hands from now on"

"..."

"From this day onwards, you're no longer a Liutenant, you'll be receiving a promotion to the rank Captain First Class for the new Unit I'll be assigning you to."

"..."

"I congratulate you. But first, get yourself treated."

I left the room with an empty expression. It feels really heavy, I'm suffocating, I wanted to cry but nothing came out. Corpse, blood, scattered organs of the soldiers, dead bodies missing parts, how do you expect me to be f*cking happy after being promoted?? This is not the first time this happened to the unit I'm in , yet I'll never get used to this feeling.

"Bwaaaaaaaaghhhh"

After a week, I packed my things from my old barracks to my new appointed unit. While arranging my new room, a person knocked. I opened it, only to see a women wearing a military uniform infront of me.

"Oohhh! You're the new Captain, aren't you!? Here's your new uniform. Call for me whenever you finished changing, I'll introduce you to the Unit!"

"..."

"Forgive my rudeness, Captain Minoru!! I'm Lieutenant Mei of Unit-32D."

"...alright."

I flashed a light salute and shut the door. I sat on my knees and leaned my back into the wooden door. My chest tightened so much that I can't breath knowing that our fates are already sealed right from the start. I don't wanna see them, I just wanna die. Just...kill me already.

After changing I left the room only to see Lt.Mei leaning on the wall in the corridor looking at the ceiling, waiting for someone.

"Captain, come with me!"

"Why."

"Quite cold for our new Captain, huh?"

"Lieutenant..."

"Mm?"

"You don't know how terrifying the front is, I'd say it's even better to die killing yourself than to die on that hell."

"Who said we'd gonna die?"

"Huh?" I gasped with a shocked tone.

"That's why we have a strong captain like you, right?"

My eyes, widened for a moment due to shock.

I walked to the exit door at the end of the corridor. As I openend it, light blinded me as if welcoming me to a brand new world, while also being aware that this "brand new" world will also be the one to conclude my fate in the future.
