Chapter 1

An arc of electricity struck the silhouette of a young girl with a pale face. She was the one known and feared by many as "The goddess of the apocalypse" due to her power and cruelty yet today her gaze seemed to hold a gentleness as she looked back at the kneeling fat man who seemed like he had his whole world view shaken.

If her acquaintance were to see this, they would surely be shocked as she had never shown such a gentle gaze, not even to her closest colleagues.

The man that she had protected and sacrificed herself for, infamously known as the trash of humanity was her brother.

As her light figure fell down, she smiled at her brother and softly muttered her last words.

"You're such a dummy up until the very end...."

[125700 points of damage has been dealt to champion Mira. Champion Mira has died]

As those words left her mouth, time seemed to freeze over for the fat man. His sister had always despised him openly out in the public and had never smiled at him once after the incident that happened 5 decades ago.

The day everything changed and humanity welcomed the dawn of a new era. The event that marked the start of the era known as the era of the champions.

All of humanity received a system inside their head on that eventful day, A system that referred to itself as the "Champion's Pathway' and along with it came shocking announcements from it.

The system declared that after 5 years, the gateway to the higher universe will open and humanity will be exposed and left at the mercy of otherworldly beings if they couldn't become strong enough to fend for themselves.

Even though humanity was facing a great crisis, those who were brave and skilled enough were able to find hope within it. The president of the United Statws on that day had deliver this remark saying "whether this is a blessing or misfortune, depends on how capable we are as a humanity". This disaster had presented humanity with the opportunity to gain powers that were thought unimaginable before.

Who hadn't dreamed of gaining superpowers? But all of those fantasies were ruthlessly shut down by reality but now this system was telling them that it was possible. It was saying that it was possible to turn fantasy into reality.

Even though humanity as a whole was nervous, a part of them were also excited about the new changes that this era would bring along.

As the fatty reminisced back upon the past, the face of his sister appeared in his mind. The small childish face that always seemed to hold a frown but had a rare smile occasionally when Skylar wasn't up to his usual debauchery. He had caused a lot of suffering to his only family in the past due to his antics and even her death now was because of him.

He slowly stood up trembling and looked at the person that had killed his sister. The person who had killed his sister, his close friend Girad.

"Oi fatty, looks like I scared you shitless. You're so scared that you're shaking. I guess it's no surprise since it's your first time looking at a dead body"

'No...I'm not shaking out of fear. This rage I feel.... It's been dormant for too long and It's threatening to erupt out of me'

Unknown to him and the killer, his eyes were starting to glow silver. A clear sign of awakening

Skylar was stunned as he looked at the log of system messages that only he could see. He was known as the "Trash of humanity" and it was for a good reason.

He was the only person to not have awakened his innate skill yet at this point in time. Those that had not had already passed away yet he was able to survive until now. This was all due to his sister's protection. The safety halo that the title of Harbinger of plague provided was not to be taken lightly. None in the universe would pick a fight with her as her ability ensured that her opponent would suffer heavy losses

In fact, if his sister hadn't stood in front of him to block the attack for him, she would have been able to take Girad down easily with her

"You're usually so cool and collected, how can you act so impulsively Mira. Even though you have saved me from the lightning strike, I will still die by the hands of Girad now that you're dead"

Skylar couldn't help but mutter in his mind as he slowly looked up and focused his eyes on Girad. Skylar knew better than anyone what his sister was capable of. If it wasn't because she was concerned for safety, she would have poisoned Girad to death by now. But such was love, it made people illogical and that was what Girad had exploited

'At least I can take him down to hell with me…'

Noticing that something was off about the fatty, a bad feeling rose inside his mind. He quickly summoned a bolt of lightning that flashed through the sky to hit Skylar.

Noticing the incoming lightning bolt, Skylar just coldly smiled and grabbed the amulet he had tied around his neck. It was also the artifact that had made Girad commit the treacherous act against his friend and kill the woman that he fancied. It was all just for this artifact that could potentially change the fate of anyone that holds it.

Even though the eye of Odin was an auxiliary artifact whose sole function was to allow the user to view anyone's status, Skylar was determined to detonate the artifact alongside him in a suicide attack by stimulating the divinity of Odin that it contained using his innate skill. Despite not being an offensive artifact, it contained an immense amount of energy that was big enough to blow up the abandoned planet they were on

Girad eyes widened as he felt the intense fluctuations coming from the amulet. A bad feeling rose in his mind and he shouted frantically

"Stop… Don't do this Skylar. I promise you that I will let you leave this place alive once you hand over the amulet" Girad was scared shitless when he felt the fluctuations coming from the artifact, which was apparent by the fact that he called Skylar by his name instead of referring to him as fatty as he usually did.

As for letting him go? It was all a bluff. There was no way Girad was gonna let his enemy go free, especially not after witnessing Skylar's prowess. He was not aware of what innate ability Skylar had exactly awoken but it was clear that it was a top tier one.

Skylar roared into a burst of crazy laughter as cracks started forming all over his artifact. Skylar may have been given the title of trash but he had been the brightest kid among his peers when he was younger. If it wasn't for him falling into depression after losing his parents, he might have joined the peak of humanity alongside his sister.

'Does this guy take me for an idiot? And really? Using such cliche villain lines at his age. Tsk tsk, you would have to do better than that if you want to dupe your granddaddy here' As he approached his final moments, Skylar felt a calm sensation take over his body and all the tension leaving his body. His mind felt clearer than ever before

"Let me go? What meaning is there to my life now that I have lost the only family member left in my life. A brother like me who can't even take care of his sister and instead cause suffering for her doesn't deserve to live."

The artifact shattered into countless fragments, blasting off the whole planet with the shockwave. It was a spectacular sight as the whole planet crumbled into small dust particles floating into space. On the place where a planet once stood, nothing but endless space could be found. Leaving no trace of the abandoned planet that had once existed there.

Before Skylar's figure vaporized, he couldn't help but mutter to himself

"Scums like us belong in hell Girad....if only I could redo this life once again, I would correct all the wrongdoings I have done"
