Finally!

When the town finally comes into view I'm slightly taken back. It's like it's something from the past... but with magic. The walls were made of large thick stone but had glowing blue streaks running through it. The light in the blue strips seems to glow brighter then fade as it pulsed. It was so tall I couldn't see anything on the other side except the sun peaking over. Rune cleared his throat and I snap my head back and give him an apologetic look.

He was watching me and my reaction. His eyebrows drew together in thought as I start walking. I guess if I keep acting like that I'm gonna give myself away. I tried to keep my gawking under control but let's be honest. The second we passed through the gates I saw fairies.. actual faeries! Some flew around giggling while others yelled. I turn to see an old...man? walking..er floating across the street with a bunch of floating lights in tow.

Most seemed to closely resemble Rome and the other fae here. The farther we made it into town I noticed my different look was attracting attention. I stepped closer to Rune but he noticed the looks as well and with just a look from him they quickly looked away. A hooded cape was placed over me that matched my dress perfectly. I looked at Rune and he gave me a reassuring look. I really need to figure out how to do that. It could really come in handy.

We finally made it to a tavern of some kind and was taken to a private room. I looked at Rune as he says "I know the owner and this place has the best food in town. Order whatever you want. I will be right back." He steps out of the room leaving Fig and I. "You heard the man! Let's order everything!" Fig says excitedly. I giggle and say "Fig, you and I both know we can't eat that much and unless you plan on rolling out of here I suggest getting just what we need. It's nice of him to feed us. Let's not be jerks about it." Fig frowned but agreed.

As we ate the food we ordered I looked at Fig and asked "How old is Rune? He doesn't look much older than me." Fig had his head down in a bowl of soup so all I could see was his cute round butt.

Fig's head came up and his face was covered in soup. As he cleaned his face he said: "I'm not entirely sure how old the dark fae is but I know he's been around for a couple of hundred years." I choked on my water. A couple hundred? How was that possible? "Immortality?" I ask in a small voice.

Fig nods his head as he says "Most here are. Well, almost Immortal. Some royals can live for thousands of years but they can all be killed." I think about what that means while nibbling a piece of bread then ask "And me? Am I like that now as well?" Fig looks at me and says "Well yeah I would assume so. I mean I don't know everything that will change for you but I can already feel your life span increasing. I'd say you were at three hundred and growing." Fig says while tilting his head.

My face pales. Three hundred and growing.. would this be the same when I go back home? "Fig.. How do you know these things about me?" Fig goes for something that looks like pudding and says "You and I are bonded. I was a spirit guardian for the water you drank so now I'm yours. I may be small now but I will become stronger in the future as you grow stronger." I keep quiet as I try and think about how to get back and if I did.. was there a way to get rid of the power now growing inside me?

Before I can ask Fig anything else Rune walks in and so does a little old man with pointy little ears. He was like four feet tall and had the biggest smile on his face. "Well hello dear. I see Rune has made a very pretty friend. Please try some of my house tea. It's the best in the area and Rune always comes back for more." The little old man says as he pours me, Fig and Rune a cup of tea. I smile awkwardly and thank him. Something breaks outside as yelling comes through the door. The old man frowns and excuses himself as he runs out.

I'm not much of a tea drinker but the tea smells amazing. Fig and I watch Rune take a sip and refill his cup so Fig and I drink the tea. Rune smiles and refills our cups. "Did you like the food?" He asked leaning back in his chair. "Yes, thank you. I really appreciate everything you've done. In the future, if I can ever help you I will return the favor. We should probably get going before it get's too late." I say pushing away from the table.

"I'm sorry love but you and your friend are going to have to come with me," Rune says in a serious tone. Fig starts running to me only to stumble and fall over on the table. Panicking I stood to pick him only to have the room spin. I grabbed the table to stable myself as I tried my hardest to glare at Rune. "You.." I say confused. I looked at the teacup on the table and instantly knew. My world spun and as I fell back. Rune was there in a flash catching me in his arms as everything went dark.
