Hayley

As though I was trash, Zion pushed me away. I lost my balance and found myself on the floor, my eyes already wet with tears that threatened to fall out if I dared to blink.

"You can't be my mate! That's not possible! An omega can't possibly be the Alpha's mate!" He screamed out to the hearing of everybody.

The music stopped and the room went completely silent. Everybody was looking at us, and watching me get humiliated by Zion.

"B..But I'm your mate. I..I felt it.." I stammered while I struggled to stand up. However, Zion leaned in and slapped me across the face. Unable to bear the shame and humiliation, a tear dropped from my eyes, and soon the rest of them began to pour down like rain.

"An Omega?"

"Is this some sort of joke?"

"What a poor girl, she must have been so excited."

I heard the crowd whisper, while their eyes threatened to peer into the depths of my soul. Forcefully, Zion pulled me up from the floor and dragged me into the middle of the room. His grip was tight and painful, but he didn't care. He only cared to humiliate me, and nobody did anything to stop him.

He pushed me into the middle of the room, and with a voice loud enough to engulf the atmosphere, he denounced me as his mate.

"I, Alpha Zion Alaric, denounce you as my mate. The bond we once shared under the moonlight has ceased to exist under the same moonlight!"

Unable to bear it anymore, I picked up my clothes and dashed out of the room, my tears flowing as I made my escape. As I raced out of the ballroom, I caught a glimpse of Emily's face. She was smiling as though this had been part of some plan she had orchestrated. It didn't matter to me, and I didn't waste any time thinking about it. All that mattered to me was how to escape this hell hole, or how to completely erase myself from existence.

Clouded by my own tears, I collided with another figure, a bigger and studier figure. I had been running at top speed, and the impact had earned me a broken nose. I clutched my bleeding nostrils, and only then did I realize that I had stained the clothes of the man I had collided with. I prepared myself mentally for a slap, but received none.

"Is everything okay?" A deep soothing baritone voice inquired and I slowly raised my head to meet the gaze of the man before me. He was tall, nothing less than six foot and five inches. His jet black hair was held back stylishly, and a pair of soft hazel brown eyes were glaring down at me in a manner I was not used to.

"I..I'm so s..sorry." I apologized before reaching down to tear a piece of my gown. I had to clean this man up or I was going to get an extra punishment for causing a guest discomfort. I reached to clean the bloodstain, but he stopped me midway.

"Don't you think that'll only make things worse? Don't bother yourself with it." The man said before stepping aside to allow me pass. "I didn't mean to block your path."

My eyes widened expressively after I heard him say the last words. He apologized? For something that was obviously my fault. This was probably the nicest anybody had ever been to me, and the shock of getting treated nicely had me rooted in one spot for a while.

"Do not mind my steward, Alpha Damian. She's a dramatic one, and was just on her way out of the party." The Alpha, Alexander said as he walked forward to welcome his visitor. He glared at me with a wicked stare before gesturing for me to disappear with his eyes.

I took the initiative and made to continue my race out of the room, but was promptly restrained by Alpha Damian's strong arms.

"Wait..." He said with an air of suspense and curiosity. I turned to meet his confused look and he glared at me with the same look. "Y.You're my mate.."

"Mate?" I chorused alongside Alpha Alexander who was just as shocked as I was. "That's not possible." I denied, but Alpha Damian didn't seem pleased by my words.

His brows arched up furiously, and his aura immediately became cold. "Are you insinuating that my words are false?"

"N..no.." I swiftly replied in my shaky tone. It felt as though I might die if I spoke a word against him, so I agreed to his words. I did feel a thug deep down in my bones, but it wasn't as vibrant as the sparks I felt for Zion. I began to question myself, was it possible for me to be mated to two Alpha's at the same time? Was this happening because Zion had denounced me? Or was the spark for Zion false?

"Good!" Alpha Damian said curtly. "I've found my mate, Alpha Alexander, I guess there's no need to dance around any more, is there?"

"I suppose not. If she is really your mate then you can have h—"

"No! She's not his mate, she's mated to me!" Zion interjected sharply, his face tight with contempt as he approached Alpha Damian. He was ready to yank me out of the Alpha's hold, but his father stopped him before he could make any rash decisions. I could tell from one look that Alpha Damian was a lot stronger than Zion, and Alexander understood that as well. The only obnoxious person was Zion, and he had immediately jumped into a battle he couldn't win.

"What are you saying Zion? Didn't you denounce her a minute ago?" Alexander asked in a hushed tone. He was doing his best to keep his son away from trouble, but Zion clearly didn't understand the message, not until he got himself pinned to the ground by Damian's foot.

The guards rushed forward to defend their future king, but Alpha Alexander stopped them with a wave of his hand.

Damian glared at the man underneath his feet with a condescending look in his eyes. His aura was dead cold, and his amber eyes illuminated nothing but pure power and rage. "You cannot denounce her, and still want her back. You've made your choice, now suck it up and be a man." Damian said before lifting his leg off of the enraged man.

"You bastard! Who do you think you are! I'm going to k—"

"Enough Zion!" Alexander hushed. He was visibly enraged by his son's attitude, and offered Damian an apologetic gesture on behalf of his son.

"You're a good man Alexander, but you need to teach your son some manners." Damian said before gesturing for the man behind him to get me.

I turned to the side and only then did I notice a smiling figure right by Damian's side. The Alpha was so tall that I had barely noticed that there was another man behind him. Either that or this man was good at concealing his presence.

"I'm Ethan, it's nice to meet you..."

"Hayley.." I replied shyly before following him out of the ballroom. I could tell he was Damian's right hand man. He exuded an aura similar to that of an Alpha, but at the same time there was an air of submission around him.

"Where are you taking me?" I asked in a low tone. I was afraid that they might mistake my normal voice as me yelling, so I decided to stick to talking in hushed tones.

The Alpha turned towards me with a bright smile on his face. He seemed genuinely happy, and I couldn't tell the reason why. Surely it wasn't because he found his mate? Nobody would be happy to have such a weak omega as their mate, right?

"You're my mate, Hayley, you no longer belong here." He said before holding open the car door for me to enter. After noticing my reluctancy, he flashed me another warm smile, before clarifying things. "There's nothing to be worried about, I'm not going to hurt you."

I took a second to study his face, and realized that his smiles were genuine, he was genuinely happy that I was his mate. Although I loved that I was finally leaving this pack I was still worried about everything. What if the new pack is worse? What if all of this was an act? I just couldn't get those questions out of my head. And after battling with them for a whole minute, I finally mustered the courage to ask; "What are you going to do to me?"

"You're not a very trusting person are you?" Alpha Damian asked rhetorically. He walked closer to me, and out of nowhere pulled me into his warm arms. "I know these people have hurt you, and I understand your pain. I won't force you to trust me, but I can guarantee you that I'm nothing like those monsters. Now come Hayley, let me take you home."
