He might be influent enough to have documents stating otherwise, but – I'm sorry dad, I did snoop around through your stuff, but it was all for a good reason – as far as reliable sources are concerned, the documents relating him to being a full-fledged citizen of the US are as good as trash.

They are official, but the emission date doesn't make any sense!

Also... I know he didn't suffer any fatal or critical injuries during the attempt against his life, but...
