Ch58. Moment of truth

'No!' Lauritz reprimanded himself, shaking his head wildly. 'First things first, I gotta leave this library for later.'

He left the hidden library, and closed the door as quietly as he could behind him.

When he was about to turn the corner of the corridor, a wild chill ran down his spine, and his most primal instincts kicked in, warning him to run or hide.

When he made the turn, warden Ridge was there, leaning against the wall, looking straight ahead to the opposite wall, but Lauritz knew he was paying the closest attention to his most minute movements.

"What are you doing in that part of the corridor, Mr. Lauritz...?" The warden's voice was crystalline, but had an ominous shade of darkness hidden beneath it.
