After the bridge was another gate, also barred and flanked by two guards.

Johan's soul almost left his body when, without warning, Lauritz took him by the hand and led him across the bridge.

When Lauritz's small palm touched Johan's hand, he felt as if an extremely subtle electric current ran through his body.
