Four More To Go

"Wait... no! No! Do not do that. I will tell you more. I know a secret." The nurse struggled again but could not free herself from Nora's tight grip. Her knees buckled beneath her, the searing pain clouding her thoughts. All she wanted was for the agony to stop.

Nora looked at the woman with cold, calculated eyes. The nurse's desperate struggles seemed to entertain her. Was she so wicked now that she relished the small screams and pain?

"Tell me what you know and I will decide." Nora repeated, her voice icy and indifferent. "No one would know what happened to you since you shouldn't be here in the first place." She pulled the nurse's arm sharply, causing her to moan and gasp as her bones felt like they were shattering.

"I... they haven't sent me alone. My boss told me they have called three more organizations to get rid of you. That's why he wanted me to be the first. The one who kills you will get a bigger reward." Nora's eyes narrowed, the coldness in them intensifying until they turned completely indifferent.

Instead of feeling fear or disgust, she laughed, a sound that shocked the nurse.

"Hahaha! And here I thought my revenge would be a long and slow process that would not give me satisfaction." Her laughter sent goosebumps across the nurse's skin. She had been told Nora was a sick and weak child, but the girl before her looked nothing less than a demon. She regretted coming unprepared.

If she had been more discreet...

"Fine! I will spare you," Nora said suddenly, her tone shifting to mockery. "But you will tell them that you have completed the task. I have been injected with poison and I am in a critical condition."

The nurse's eyes widened in fear and confusion. "You... you can't mean that. They will kill me once they know that I lied."

Nora's smile was chilling. "They would not. Since I will be saved by the doctors. And then you will return and confess that it was you who did it because my family had paid you." She released the nurse's arm, who collapsed to the floor, clutching her throbbing limb. "Now go, before I change my mind."

Scrambling to her feet, the nurse stumbled towards the door, her heart pounding in terror. As she fled, Nora's laughter echoed in her ears, a haunting reminder of the demon she had just encountered.

Nora laid on the bed with a chilling smile on her face, her eyes filled with a disturbing joy. She muttered to herself, her tone laced with vindictive satisfaction.

"I was worried that they would return me to my family after giving them a warning when they felt the pressure. But now... Hahaha! Uncle, this time, you will be the one getting ruined by my hands." Nora's sinister musings were interrupted by the sound of the door opening again.

"Ah! You are already here." A young girl in a uniform entered the room, her expression cautious as she approached the bed. "I am here to collect your blood and check your wounds." The nurse placed the tray on the side table, taking out an empty injection. Yet, the needle could easily be coated with poison.

Suddenly, her demeanor changed and she started crying, tears streaming down her cheeks, shocking the nurse.

"Boo hoo. Ahh."

"What... what happened?" The nurse flinched, looking around nervously, afraid that if anyone saw the scene, they would misunderstand.

"I am afraid of injections. I will not have them." Nora shook her head vigorously, covering her arms as she huddled into a small ball, her voice trembling with feigned fear.

"Oh, I will be gentle." The nurse sighed, trying to sound reassuring. The nurse knew she was still a young girl, clearly mistreated. But Nora only cried louder, her sobs echoing through the room as she shook her head, refusing the injection.

The nurse looked at the scene, her face a mix of frustration and pity.

"Nora, hear me out first. I am like your elder sister." The nurse's voice was soft, but Nora felt a tinge of guilt. However, she couldn't let her guard down, so she shook her head vehemently, refusing again.

A few staff members working nearby opened the door and entered, curious about the commotion. They were surprised to see a young girl covered in wounds, crying hard and shaking her head, her expression one of sheer terror. The nurse's expression turned to one of injustice, her eyes filling with tears as she bit her lip and placed the injection back on the tray.

"I only wanted to collect the blood, Maria. You have known me for a long time. Have I ever bullied a patient?" She complained wholeheartedly, her voice quivering as she saw a friend entering the room.

Maria shook her head at once, patting the arms of her friend and colleague reassuringly.

Nora's body relaxed slowly as she saw the nurse talking to others in an aggrieved voice. Using the commotion to her advantage, she discreetly bent the needle and pushed it onto the ground.

"She did not do anything. I am only scared of the needle. Each time I am stabbed with them, I bleed." She wiped her tears, her eyes looking swollen and her face so pitiful that the staff couldn't blame her for her fears.

"Sister, would it be fine if I take out blood myself? That way I will not be scared of it?" The nurse frowned, her confusion evident.

"That is not the way to do it." But another staff member stopped her from speaking further.

"Let her be. We will administer her." The nurse shook her head with a frown. Someone picked up the bent needle from the ground and threw it into the dustbin. Another staff member took out a fresh pack of needles and opened it in front of Nora, readying the injection.

"Here! Slowly press it into this vein and pull it this way." He demonstrated with such concentration that Nora almost laughed. They had no idea how many times she had injected herself before.

"And if it goes wrong, we will do it for you." The staff member's earnestness was almost endearing, and Nora nodded, hiding her amusement behind a mask of false innocence.
