Return from the Final Season

"So that was my end? I was just fated to die in the middle of the pack? I thought I could just coast by, thought I could just let humanity's heroes carry us through this mess... But it looks like I'm going to have to pick up everyone's shit. This time around, things are going to be different." Humanity has been chosen to participate in the Five Seasons, a series of competitions held by the gods to determine who is the strongest. Ronan Wilde was just an average college student when he was chosen to participate in the games, spending five years of his young adult life fighting for the sake of humanity. The five seasons were brutal and pitted the inhabitants of many different worlds against each other. The winners would move onto the next season, while the losers would perish along with their home worlds. Ronan was nothing special, only about average when compared to all the other players who were chosen to participate. He did his best to survive and relied heavily on the strongest players humanity had to offer. He trusted that they would be able to clear the final season and save the world. However, things did not turn out as planned; humanity failed, and everyone died. Ronan Wilde was the last one left, and he made a wish in his dying moments. He wished to return to the past, and the system granted his request. Having returned to the past, Ronan plans to use his knowledge of the five seasons to become the strongest player in the games. This story will take Ronan through all five seasons, starting in season one, where he fights to conquer the Verdant Abyss. The seasons last for three months out of the year, so while Ronan is not fighting against other worlds for the sake of humanity, he will be battling it out on earth with super-powered humans (and other threats) who seek to turn the world into their playground.

Levon De'Olrath

Punisher turned to me and pointed past me. "Ronan, look out!"

I looked just in time to see another sharp spike of dagger energy aimed at the back of my neck. I narrowly rolled away, causing the energy to cut into the ground and send a plume of dirt into the air. This was exactly what I was hoping I could avoid for a while. In the past, the strongest powerhouses among the Alorae and the Veldans were uninterested in humans. They only targeted each other at the beginning of the first season.

I had interfered with the course of history too much. "Fuck this shit."

I unsheathed my sword and turned to face my attacker. A very lean and athletic male Alorae landed about four meters from me. He was wearing a black cloak that obscured his hair and half of his face, so all I could see was a grim smile. Three daggers were in each hand, separated by his fingers. I activated my advanced sword energy and pointed my sword at him.

"How did you find me so fast?"

The Alorae frowned. "I did not even try to find you. I was hunting in this area, human. The notification came at just the right time; we were about to leave."

"I'm Ronan Wilde; we don't have to get messy this early into the games. Who are you? Maybe we can make a deal." I tried to buy some time to think; I was almost certain that I knew the identity of the cloaked Alorae. If my suspicions were correct, he would be a very dangerous opponent without my Final Stand skill off of its cooldown.

"I don't make deals." The cloaked Alorae darted forward, his body completely coated in dagger energy.

My suspicions were correct; he was none other than Levon De'Olrath. He was an Alorae criminal who was wanted for murder among his own people. He operated outside of the main Alorae forces during the entire first season. He was ranked among the top five Alorae in terms of strength because he had been sponsored by the God of Slaughter before even entering the first season.

I dodged to the left and raised my sword up to meet the dagger energy. I attempted to redirect the attack and let it flow behind me. The weight of the energy was equal to my own, but I had an advantage because I knew of my opponent's skills beforehand.

I shifted my weight, knowing that Levon was going to change the direction of his attack now that he was within striking distance and we were in contact with each other. Using telekinesis, I pushed the two of us away from each other just as Levon released all of his dagger energy at the location I was just defending myself in.

Dirt and rocks were scattered everywhere, and I saw that he only had five daggers left. "That's one; you only have five more of those in you, fucker."

I smiled, but I knew that I would die if any one of those concentrated dagger energy strikes were to land. His sponsorship with the God of Slaughter granted him the ability to store his dagger energy into up to six daggers. Each dagger could release all the concentrated energy, resulting in an attack equal to a tier of energy greater than the stored energy. Right now, he has advanced dagger energy, so the attacks made with those daggers were equivalent to an attack with master-tier dagger energy.

Levon cocked his head to the side. "How do you know about my daggers?"

"Levon De'Olrath, that's your name, isn't it?" He looked taken aback, which meant I had an opportunity to strike. I used all of my agility to rush forward. Once I got within striking distance, Levon snapped out of his stupor and tried to jump out of the way as I made a thrust at his chest with my weapon.

He narrowly escaped the attack, but as he was in the air, I threw my sword at him and used telekinesis to pull him towards the thrown weapon. He struggled, and I felt his will and mine clash. I was the victor, and he was impaled in the side by my sword.

He squirmed and threw one of his five daggers at me. Without focusing the dagger energy, it was almost a wasted attack, but it was still dangerous enough to cause life-threatening damage, so I was forced to jump back. The dagger struck the ground and left a cross-shaped cut into the ground.

"You… This is going to be fun. I haven't been cut in ages!" A maniacal smile formed on Levon's face as he grabbed my sword by the blade and pulled it out of his side. He then threw it on the ground in between us as he licked his bloody fingers. "Take your blade; I want to see more!"

I extended my hand and summoned my sword using telekinesis. It flew to my hand, and I looked past Levon to see how Punisher was doing. He was barely holding on against the other Alorae, but he wasn't dead. I needed to finish this fight because Levon would end up keeping me here long enough for other Alorae to attack as well.

I condensed my sword energy to a fine, thin layer around my sword and took up a defensive stance against Levon. I'd need to exhaust all of his daggers in order to come out on top, and the best way was to force him into positions where he would need to expend a dagger to come out unharmed.

I made three quick slashes towards him, expending concentrated cuts of advanced sword energy at Levon. As they flew towards him, I activated my telekinesis to pull him closer to me. This time, Levon was ready, and he resisted the pull because he had a strong footing and even stronger stats.

I was counting on this, and I used Levon as an anchor to pull myself closer to him. I extended my sword and flew at him like a bullet, flying towards him inside of the sword energy that I slashed at him prior to using telekinesis. I estimated that this attack should be almost equivalent to master-tier sword energy, thanks to the combined attack. This makes three.
