Turn Them Away

"You have to do this properly," Amethyst said to Slate.

Slate rolled his eyes, "It was supposed to be my day off but you actually made me do something so troublesome."

"That's because I know that you will help anyway, so I am counting on you," she replied with a grin.

Slate shook his head before he put on his Bluetooth headset and placed his phone on his pocket.

They were indeed in a call with one another, despite that their facial reactions were still there as if they were talking with one another face to face.

Another ten minutes before he spoke once again, "He is now in front of the building."

Amethyst heard this through her own Bluetooth headset and nodded her head.

"Let's go," she said to Eduard.

"There is a nearby restaurant where we can talk properly," Eduard started as they stepped out of the building.

Adam saw them coming out and became curious as to who it was she was with and what they were talking about.

Because of this, he had decided to follow them.

"He's following you," Slate stepped out from where he was and started following all of them.

"Well, isn't that good?" Amethyst replied with a smile.

She and Eduard started talking more about writing in order to increase Adam's curiosity and for him to keep on following them.

The restaurant was ten minutes away by walking.

Upon getting there, they first ordered and spoke for a bit more before Eduard took out the folder containing the contract.

"As we have already told you, everything was written in this contract and your sign is all that we are waiting for in order for you to become a part of our company. You will become a well known author I am very sure of it," Eduard said with his business smile.

Amethyst's smiling lips twitched upon hearing his words and looking at his smile.

'He really knows how to act and somehow this scares me,' she thought as she brought out her pen to sign.

As she was signing, her brows furrowed when she thought of something. Because of how things suddenly made turns yesterday, she was unable to think about this. But now that she was in this situation, she thought of it to be possible.

But she will ask about that later on, she still has to keep on acting and see whether Adam will rush to them or he would simply leave.

If she were to be asked, she wished that he would just go and leave them alone for good. But after seeing his true colors back then, she no longer hope for such.

And just as she thought, Adam stood from where he was seated and rushed to them.

He even grabbed her hand that was holding the already signed contract.

This part, all three of them actually did not anticipate that all of them are shock by his actions.

It was ungentlemanly like for him to actually grab her hand and it was obvious that he was grabbing it too tight.

Amethyst even winced and knew that it would surely bruise.

"What are you doing right now?!?" Adam asked her in gritted teeth as he pulled her to stand up.

"I think you should let go of my hand first," she said pointing at her wrist that was being held onto.

"Answer my question!! What contract did you just sign?!?" Adam didn't bother listening to her.

Amethyst took a deep breath, "Let go of me Adam, I have no obligation of telling you anything."

She pulled her hand but in the end, his grip was too tight that she just hurt herself.

Eduard finally snapped out of his shock and grabbed Adam's wrist as well.

He gripped it tighter and tighter until Adam could only let go of Amethyst's wrist.

"I say, the lady was already in pain. I wonder why this gentleman still chose to not let her go. She already asked you twice," Eduard said as he pulled Amethyst to his side.

"And who are you? This is a talk between her and me. Stay out of it," Adam angrily told him.

"Just as I have said, my business has nothing to do with you Adam. I have left you all alone and didn't bother you after what you did, what are you doing now?" Amethyst angrily asked as well.

She had always wanted to say this when he started pestering her.

She didn't bother them nor did she look for trouble, yet here they are. Just because they are on the falling side, they decided to trouble her instead.

"You know why I am following you. The reason why I am here, why are you suddenly signing a contract on another company?" Adam argued back.

Amethyst scoffed, "So you finally said the truth."

Adam's eyes turned wide on the realization that he had indeed told her the truth of him being here.

"Don't try to hide it, I already told you. You are a lousy actor. It was obvious in your eyes that you were never sincere in everything you had told me. And you were just saying it to get me swayed. But sorry to say, I will never ever be swayed by you ever again. No matter who may come."

Her eyes were filled with resolution as she said all of these.

What she meant was clear, no matter who will follow Adam in knocking on her door, she won't care and she would do the same.

Turn them away.

"Ame-"

"I guess that is enough, miss Evans is now part of our company. If you are wondering what company, then here is my business card. Do give us a call if you have any inquiries. But we wish for you to stop pestering miss Evans," Eduard stopped him from arguing even more.

They are already gaining some attention and it might end up becoming unpleasant.

So he handed Adam his business card to show him just who it was he was trying to go against.

Adam wanted to still fight back but when he saw the Publishing company where Eduard works, he could only swallow his words.

Firefly Publishing Company.

Its mother company was in America. His father had told him about the companies he should watch out for, not to look for trouble.

And Firefly was one of these companies.

He could remember that once when they had a joint meeting, his father had to show respect to the people from this company despite him being the director of his own company.

"Seeing your reaction, I guess we are done here?" Eduard smiled his business like smile again upon seeing the changes in Adam's face.

Adam looked at him before looking down at Amethyst and back at Eduard before he gritted his teeth and gave Amethyst one final sharp look.

He then turned around to leave.

Amethyst heaved a sigh of relief, this is the reason she was not interested in having an argument.

It is because sometimes it would escalate that other people will look towards their direction, the attention is something she really didn't like to have.

"Are you okay?" Eduard asked her as she returned to her sit.

She tiredly nodded her head, "Anyway, I have a question."

Eduard raised his hand for a waitress before looking back at her.

"We could have just acted that I signed a contract with you, why did we have to really sign?"

They did it a while ago already.

They acted as if it was a full contract.

Before Eduard could answer.

Someone sat beside her before pulling her hand whose wrist was grabbed tightly a while ago.

"I was the one who spoke to him about that," Slate answered checking her wrist.

And somehow he already has some ointment with him, both Eduard and Amethyst were startled by his sudden appearance with the medicine.
