Chapter 34: Hardships To Overcome

Amethyst was not fond of sitting down on bed the whole day so she walked out of the room just in time to meet Scarlet who was about to go to her.

She had her laptop with her and was looking so serious making Amethyst curious because she was obviously wearing that look to meet her.

"Why are you standing up?" Scarlet asked.

"Ah, I feel much better and I really am not fond of just lying in bed when I am wide awake," Amethyst explained.

Scarlet sighed, "Well, he did say you can walk around if you want so I guess it is fine. Let's have a talk by the table."

As the sit down, Amethyst could only look at Scarlet, who was thinking deeply, before looking at her.

"I don't want you to get hurt Amethyst," she started shocking Amethyst.

"What do you mean?"

"What happened yesterday, I don't want it to happen again. If it's too hard for you then please don't push yourself. I know you wanted to repay back what we have shown you but you are putting yourself in danger and I don't want that to happen again," she said with worried look.

Amethyst sighed and smiled, "I swear what I did was also for my own good. The accident from yesterday was really just an accident. That lady didn't push me, indeed she had pulled me harshly but because of my tensed nerves I ended up losing foot, causing me to plunge into the water."

Scarlet frowned hearing this, "Are you defending her? The way Slate told me about it wasn't as simple as that."

"Well, whatever he told you, that is the truth. I am not defending her but just stating the fact, she was harsh, I didn't hid that fact but it was never her intention to make me fall off the pool."

"Even so, I hope you really aren't pushing yourself for this," Scarlet insisted.

"I am not, don't worry. I really am not pushing myself. And I am enjoying myself in whatever we are doing. Though I have hardships to overcome but despite all of that everything else was fun," Amethyst replied with a smile.

Scarlet could only sigh and accept whatever it is that Amethyst was saying because her eyes shows her emotions.

"Well, don't worry. Whatever it is, at the very least it would be the last time you will be seeing that Miss Thompson person," Scarlet then said.

After hearing this, Amethyst remembered something from yesterday.

'I'll meet you in the president's office.'

"Did Slate perhaps told you that he will be complaining about this?" she asked in a worried tone.

Clara is indeed too much of a jealous type but if she were serious about her work, this matter shouldn't really pull her down.

"Yes, he said he will be speaking to the president and that he will ask for her to be transferred," Scarlet said with a sigh.

"Oh, well. Wouldn't her work be affected?" Amethyst asked again.

"It won't. Her jealousy had already clouded her judgment as a doctor. I asked her to be transferred on a different branch because what happened yesterday was outside work but it still allows me to complain."

Both of them looked towards the door when Slate's voice came from it.

"Oh," was all Amethyst could say.

"No longer have any duties?" Scarlet asked.

"It is my day off. The outing yesterday was a paid holiday by the hospital. Today the others will have it as well, but I am off duty so I really didn't need to go," Slate explained approaching Amethyst.

Seeing as she was no longer as pale as last night, he placed his hand on her forehead then looked at the IV drip.

He then went to the cabinet where the first aid kit as and took out a cotton and the tape, he walked back to Amethyst and skillfully removed the needle of the IV drip.

"Am I still free of the doctor's fee?" Amethyst asked jokingly.

Slate looked at her before he pushed her forehead with his fore finger.

Scarlet giggled as she watches the interaction between the two of them.

They looked at her at the same time.

"You seem happy? Have you thought about the part we were talking about yesterday?" Slate asked as he put away all of the things.

"Yes, and I forgot to tell you about it Amethyst," she looked back at Amethyst.

"About that part, I am fine with it as what you felt yesterday. I mean not the part where you almost drowned but just as you came close in there."

Amethyst stared at her for a good few moments before she asked, "What are you planning?"

Scarlet smiled before she started explaining what was on her mind regarding this matter.

"I wanted it to be realistic while still being a fantasy based one," she said at the end.

She and Slate waited for Amethyst as she pondered over everything that Scarlet had just told her.

"Well," she started looking at Scarlet.

"This is your book after all. And currently I am your assistant. As long as I can help then I will help. I'm in to your plan," she smiled as she agreed.

Scarlet happily smiled and held her hand, "Let's start then."

When her curiosity reached its peak, she finally took courage and opened the window.

She couldn't help but to close her eyes at the brightness of the outside, the other side of her window.

The always closed window.

The outside world was different from her own home.

Her place was monotonous, a world of black and white but the other side of the window was bright.

It was filled with colors she only read on books.

And outside was another girl, a girl of the same age as her, if she were to estimate it.

As compared to her little smiles as she enjoyed what ever it is she does on her day to day life.

The girl on the other side was smiling wider and would be giggling from time to time.

The girl tried to reach out, only for a glass to stop her hand.

She tilted her head to the side, she could hear the outside as if there was nothing in between but a thin layer of glass was actually separating her from this too bright of a world.

The girl on the outside was currently playing in a place with a garden, some flowers on the side of the path walk.

It was as if she was watching a movie because as the girl moves, the scenery also changes.

A little gazebo, she sat as she looks like she was tired.

A cave she entered then a few moments later, she was out on the other side.

Some statues here and there, the trees and a few more attraction one would look at longer before going on their way.

She furrowed her brows as she watched the girl outside enjoying herself on so many things before she subconsciously looked behind her, looking at everything she do on repeat on her day to day life.

When sh elooked back outside, she was stunned to see that the girl had stopped in a bridge and was looking at her this time.

She abruptly closed the window and run back to her room, she was too shock that the girl looked back at her.

It was scary at the same time something else, something she couldn't explain started thumping on her chest.
