THE FUNERAL

After minutes of walking, behind me comes a young blonde with green eyes who calls my name.

'Eliana, wait, please. We have to talk.' she shouted, barely able to control her breathing.

Having no choice, I stop and look back at her.

"How can I help you too?" I asked sharply and with a cold look.

Seeing that I had stopped talking to her, she asked me to wait a moment to adjust her breathing and heartbeat. She was leaning forward with her hands on her knees and looking down and breathing hard. After a few moments he looked up at me and smiled broadly.

'I never thought such a thing could happen. You are a miracle and you should be thankful that you are still here. '

I had asked her very confused what her name was. I didn't understand why everyone was telling me this or why everyone was approaching me, even though I didn't know them.

The girl was speechless. With a trembling voice and teary eyes tryed to say something.

I'm ... I'm ... It's me, look at me. Are you feeling alright? Do you need to go to a doctor? Maybe your sudden awakening has affected something in your body. Maybe you're tired, you need to go home. I help you.'

The despair on her face made me think that something had really happened to me, even though I felt extremely lively. Seeing her so confused, I asked her to take me home to rest a bit.

Full of goodwill and self-confidence, she hugs me with tears in her eyes and leads me home.

Near the house, the she had begun to talk to me about her and her past and how we had met. I was extremely confused and didn't understand anything. I had never seen her before, nor could I remember anything when I saw her face.

She was talking about it casually, though, as if it were normal for me to know. She even told me funny things we did together. However, she didn't expect me to understand. She seemed to get used to the idea that I didn't know what she was talking about.

When I got to my house, she had a frightened face.

'I'm so glad you're here, even though you don't remember some things, but I hope you know who passed away. She was a very important person to you. "

The moment I heard that, I immediately thought of that woman who called my name and was on her knees. Without any particular feeling, I realized that she talk about her.

I was trying to explain that I don't remember anything at all. She told me in vain about people in my past because I could not empathize with her at all.

After hours of shedding tears, she asked me to attend the funeral the next day. She knew that I didn't know her, but she thought it would be best for me to be present there.

Without understanding what she wanted from me, I promise her that I would participate, I would be neutral and after the event I would leave the city.

With tears in her eyes and her voice muffled, he accepted my proposal.

'Viviana... "

I suddenly look at her and shrug confused.

'Viviana is my name.' With pain in her heart she closed the door behind her and let me rest because an important and emotional day was coming.

After a troubled night and sleepless hours, the doorbell rang alarmingly. I hurry to put some clothes on and open. On the other side of the door was Viviana, gloomily dressed, holding a black bag in her hand.

I invite her inside and lead her to the kitchen to serve her tea or coffee.

'We don't have time to drink anything. Why aren't you ready to leave? I was very inspired to bring you a new black suit. '

In a hurry, Viviana lifts me from the kitchen chair and sends me to the dressing room with the clothes she brought me.

"Are you attached to this lady? Did it mean much to you?" I asked the girl as she put on my clothes.

There was silence for a few seconds. I get out of the dressing room and go straight to her with a sad face.

'Come on. We have to go now. We're late.' she told me, wiping her eyes gently.

She took my hand and led me to her car.

On the way to the cemetery she told me that the woman had died because she had 3 shocks. The fact that I was dead, then that I woke up, although the doctors said she was dead, and that I didn't know her.

I was sorry I didn't empathize. It seemed like a dramatic story. Viviana wept throughout the story. I was silent and listening.

When we got there, everyone looked at us. Nobody said anything. Viviana gave me a bouquet of flowers and suggested me to go and lay them over the grave. Then I sat in the back, out of sight of the people at the event.

When it was over, Viviana was looking for me desperately. She asked all the participants if they had seen me. She remembered what I had promised her the day before and drove to the airport. That's the last time we met. She knew there was nothing she could do to persuade me to stay. Instead, she gave me a present. A beautifully packaged box. She told me to open it when I got to my destination.

'You are a fearless warrior ...' she whispered with wet eyes.

Although I did not empathize with her, I took her in my arms and thanked her. I apologized for not knowing her and continued on my way to the gate where I had to check in.
