Resident Evil 2: Re-Imagined

The story of Resident Evil 2 Remake, re-imagined into one cohesive story, with some added changes. (This story has a female lead but due to the new genre system I can't have this story classified as a horror book with a female-lead since it's a male-lead only genre for some reason).

The Metal Maze

"Run!" Claire shouts as she runs up the slope. There's a loud splash as the Tyrant jumps down into the sewage. They can hear it dig its hands into the pile of meat as Claire and Ben jump back down into the sewage. As they trudge forward they see something a few yards away moving in the water. They quickly come to a halt as they try to decide which is worse, the Tyrant, or whatever the hell they just saw.

Before they can decide however, something starts swimming. They turn to try and get away, only to see the Tyrant jumping down. A giant mutated hand suddenly emerges from the water, dashing towards them. They both do their best to move out of the way, just barely avoiding its grasp. The hand runs into the Tyrant, and a large creature suddenly erupts from the sewage which flies all over them. With both creatures distracted, they make a run for it, heading deeper into the tunnel. As they wind around another mountain of meat and trash, they see another one of those creatures approaching from the left, but this one isn't submerged so it's moving much slower than them.

They can see the other side of the tunnel where there's a concrete walkway out of the water. As they head for it, they pass by a large pipe sticking out of the wall to their right. As they approach it, heavy-breathing erupts from it. It sounds like a creature struggling to breath. A giant hand grabs onto the side and another creature starts pulling itself out from it.

"How many are there?!" Ben exclaims as they hurry past the pipe.

"Just keep going!" Claire orders. They finally make it to the walkway, pulling themselves out as the thing plunges into the sewage. They hurry through a doorway, slamming it shut behind them before taking a much needed break to catch their breath.

Though the room is several yards wide, the walkway is thin and made of metal, standing above several pipes and an assortment of machinery. Not more than a few steps forward it becomes a staircase going up. They head up the stairs onto a wider platform. In the middle of the wall sits another metal door. Sitting on a table left of the door, is a box of handgun ammo. A bloody hand print tells of an unfortunate soul that was unable to reach it before they got taken away by something.

Claire glances over at Ben, whose looking back at her.

"I am not going near that," Ben objects. Claire let's out a quiet sigh as she walks over to the body, grabbing the box of ammo and giving it to him. Heading through the door they're forced to make a left around some shelves. Reaching the end of them, they see the medium-sized room laid out below. Several metal fences create a small, simple, maze. Heading to the far right of the platform, they head down some stairs into the maze. Several feet forward, a metal shutter door sits tightly shut. On the fence right of the door, sits a small power box with a picture of a King chess piece.

Left of the stairs is another shutter door, it's already open, but no powerbox is visible. Behind the stairs, is a metal door leading to a tiny room underneath the upper floor. There's small spaces in the door acting as a sort of window, but they're too small to look through.

"So, what are we looking for? Plugs, right?" Ben asks as he starts wandering around. Ben walks through the open gate, seeing an open fuse box that has what looks to be a queen chess piece jammed into it.

"Yeah, they look like chess pieces,"

"Like, this one?" Ben asks as he grabs onto the queen and pulls at it. There's a loud metallic clang as the shutter door slams shut startling both of them, "Whoops…Let me just, put it back…" Putting the plug back in, the shutters open up.

There's a thump as a body falls down from a platform behind Ben. They both look to see the mangled corpse of a construction worker rise to their feet, turning to them. It moans hungrily as it walks towards them, only to be stopped by a metal fence. Ben takes a step back as it reaches through, trying to grab at him. Claire walks up, and fires a bullet through its skull, the corpse falling to the floor once more.

"We gotta hurry," She states, "If that giant man with the claw arm couldn't stop Mr. Fedora, I'm not sure those mutants will either,"

Walking down the makeshift hallway, they enter a more open area, a gate to their left and right. The gate to the left requires the queen plug, and the power box for the right gate requires the king plug, the power box on the other side. Claire takes the queen plug and opens the left gate. It leads to a small area similar to the place they entered. A staircase to their right leads up to another platform.

Stepping over the zombie from before, they head towards the stairs, but stop when they see something to their left.

In a small enclosed room behind a gate needing the king plug, sits two strange tools on hooks. The one on top is long and thin, with a dulling yellow paint coat that's worn out in some spots. Two prongs stick out of the front of it. The bottom one is a small-framed flamethrower. The tip is burnt from lots of use, hopefully it still has some gas in it.

They head up the stairs and into the remains of what use to be a room of sorts to continue their search for the king plug. The right wall has been completely broken apart, along with most of the floor. On the wall next to them, sits a power box, the king plug sitting inside.

"Perfect," Ben states as he grabs the plug, the gate slamming shut. Jumping down they head to the gate leading to the room with the two guns. The power box's light turns a bright green as the plug is placed inside, the gate opening up for them. The guns sit on hooks to the right and a table with some papers sit on the left. As Ben eagerly grabs the yellow gun, Claire picks the papers and reads them aloud.

"The Spark Shot, property of Umbrella Corporation. This device is designed for stunning any test subjects proving too difficult to handle with normal security measures. It is important to note that once the needles have been shot into the target the trigger must be held down until the gun finishes charging and releases a burst of electricity. Caution must be used when using the gun as the distance from the target cannot exceed ten meters, and the wires can be snapped. To ensure this does not happen and the wielder is safe, it's highly recommended to be fired at the head,"

"Aim for the head, got it," Ben responds as he examines the gun like a kid who just got a christmas present.

"The Chemical Flamethrower, property of, Umbrella Corporation. This device uses pressurized gas combined with special elements to produce red-hot flames, or sub-zero mist. Special attention must be taken to the color stripe on the canister equipped. Red napalm will cause the device to shoot out a focused stream of flames that can burn anything needing to be totally destroyed. Blue nitrogen will release a wide stream of fog that will instantly freeze anything that comes into contact with it. Extreme precaution must be taken when using nitrogen as the any air current can cause the mist to shoot back at the user. It's highly recommended one where's a specialized suit before using nitrogen,"

Claire glances over at the flamethrower, relieved to see a red stripe on the canister.

"It's a good thing these come with straps to hold them," Claire states as she drapes the flamethrower onto her side, "Cause I'm sure these will certainly come in handy,"

"Do you think this can stop that blue freak?" Ben asks holding up the gun.

"We don't know how much ammo these things have, so let's save them as a last resort, okay?"

"Fine…"
