Chapter 1

Penelope's POV

"Oh no, don't tell me he is going to shoot him, no, that can't be, he deserves a happy ending." I was communicating with myself while watching a series program when suddenly my stepmother poured cold water on my body.

I was so frightened and she turned off the TV immediately, "Mom, I didn't know you were back."

The response I got from her was a thunderous slap, "You worthless child, so you have grown wings in my husband's house to feel comfortable watching a movie right?"

"I am sorry Mom, it's because I finished all my chores and I was bored that's why I turned on the TV."

"How dare you call me mom? Do I look like you stupid dead mother?" She tried to slap me again and I dodged it.

"You got the gut to dodge a slap from me right?"

"I am sorry mom, I mean ma'am, I didn't do anything wrong, forgive me, please."

"You know what, no food for you for two days, if I see you eating, you will become dead meat."

"Mom, I am sorry, please." I cried to beg her but she gave me the beating of my life and locked me in the store room as usual.

Well, this is my life, my name is Penelope Joe and I live in Spain with my family, my mother died while giving birth to me and my father thinks I am a cursed child, my stepmother, and stepsister hate me with passion, no one loves me.

My best friend named Monalisa is the only person that makes me feel that I am a living being, because of my step sister my parents stopped me from school saying it's a total waste for them to sponsor my education and as the first child, I need to give it up and allow my step sister to proceed with college, so I dropped out of college and I am just 20, will be 21 soon and all I do is to work my life for the family.

Anytime my mom locks me up here, it's over for me, there won't be food or water for me, I wonder why I am not dead yet, my body is filled with different injuries.

I guess heaven has forgotten all about me, how I wish I could really die this time in the store room.

Two days later, I was already feverish and I needed medical attention but instead, when my step-sister opened the door she talked to me like I was trash.

"Hey worthless sister, you look so pale, I know you are jealous of me because I am everyone's favorite, it's a pity sister."

I decided to ignore her but she tried to stop me, "Daisy, What do you want from me?"

"You clearly can't offer me anything, you are trash remember, anyway, my room is dirty, go and clean it up this minute, when you finish, make sure you wash my clothes along with mom's clothes then prepare something I can eat, I am hungry."

"Daisy, I am not your slave, you are my younger sister and right now you are being disrespectful."

"You are my slave, Penelope, what are you going to do about it? Do what I ask you now or you will regret it."

"Get out of my way!!"I yelled using my last strength, she refused, she lifted her hands to hit me and I got annoyed immediately, I caught her hand right in the air, "Respect yourself."

Immediately our parents walked in, she fell to the ground crying and I wondered what was wrong with her, I didn't even lay a finger on her, I just warned her.

"You cursed child, what have you done to my favorite Daisy?" My dad asked me as he rushed to her aid.

"Daddy, she said she is going to kill me all because I begged her to join me in cleaning my room and washing everyone's clothes then also make dinner for us ." She cried and I was out of words.

"Dad, she is lying."

"She slapped me Daddy and twisted my hands saying there is nothing you can do about it."

"Dad, please believe me." Tears left my eyes,how is she doing this?

Mom rushed to her aid, immediately Dad grabbed my hands, and I knew I was done for it, he took the mop stick and lashed it at me, I was bleeding in the process, I couldn't handle the beating anymore, I blanked out.
