Cry for Help

Nova is clutching the keys to the house in her right hand, watching the girl standing in front of her with a surprised expression on her face. It's getting late and a light breeze plays with the leaves that flow past the girls and settles on the cool porch.

"I'm sorry about your grandparents," Rosalie says sadly.

"T-Thank you. Um, Rosalie, I wanted to ask-"

Suddenly Nova notices a light-red car pull up in front of her house. Sitting behind the wheel is Kai, who has one hand resting on the steering wheel and is looking in her direction. Sitting next to him is Winnie, who is already opening the door and heading toward the two girls. She spreads her arms and hugs them both.

"Rosalie! We thought something had happened to you!" However, Rosalie gives her a timid smile and tries to pull Winnie away from her.

She wasn't great at hugging and physical contact and Winnie was too passionate when it came to hugging.

"This is even better! Now we can all go and have fun together like before!"

Winnie pulls away from the girls and quickly heads back to the car and gives Kai two thumbs up. He just nods and smiles at her. Rosalie fixes her hair and looks at Nova who is waiting for Rosalie to take the first step.

She didn't know what to think of her after what she'd seen today, but she didn't want to suspect someone she'd known for so long. It was all Kalen's fault, he made her think about all the trouble and now she suspects her own friend? She would never do this. This is not what a friend would do.

Nova takes a deep breath, grabs Rosalie's hand, and runs towards the car. She wasn't going to let her own thoughts go against her, and she definitely wasn't going to have someone like Kalen meddle in her life.

An hour passed, maybe two. The surroundings of the cinema were dark and the pavement is illuminated by the bright light of neon signs, which are attached around the side. Finally, the large door opened and a crowd of people came out. They talk to each other, laugh at something, and each goes their own way after a short while.

"I don't know what you're talking about, I didn't get scared at all!" Kai yells angrily, pointing a finger at Winnie who is clutching her stomach and almost tripping over a flower pot that is next to the entrance.

"How...how could you...get scared by a cat!" Winnie couldn't catch her breath.

Kai just rolls his eyes and heads to his car. Nova and Rosalie follow them slowly, glancing at each other.

"Well, I enjoyed it, even though I don't even know what the movie was about," Winnie says and turns to the two remaining girls.

"Winnie, obviously you didn't know what it was. It was a trilogy and this was the final movie." Nova adds in amusement.

Winnie stops for a moment and runs away from them. She stops by the movie program, which is displayed on the boards right next to the cinema. She puts her hand on her forehead and laughs to herself.

"Kai and his girlish squeals were worth it."

"Haha. I'm having so much fun Winnie." Kai smiles and gets into the car, urging Winnie to sit down too.

Nova stops for a moment and looks at Rosalie, who is standing next to her. She watches as Kai and Winnie keep talking about him and his girlish scream.

"I think I'd like to walk home and talk to Rosalie if you don't mind?"

Winnie looks at her in confusion. "Are you sure?"

"I am. I'll see you tomorrow. Be careful."

Winnie and Kai wave at them and within seconds their car was gone. Nova waves back and then look at the girl next to her.

She couldn't talk about all those things in front of the two, she didn't want to put them at risk if all this madness turned out to be true. She doubted it enough, but she didn't want to make another mistake.

Rosalie suspected that Nova would want to talk to her alone and get all the answers. That's why she was here. Rosalie puts her hands behind her back again and slowly made her way down the path that lead to Nova's house.

The night air feels fresh and soothing. It's pleasant outside and she and Rosalie walk close together, both eyes glued to the night sky that is dotted with stars.

"What are you waiting for? Ask." Rosalie encourages her, a sweet, guilty smile at the corner of her mouth.

"What is going on here Rosalie, everything is wrong."

Rosalie sighs. "I'm sorry Nova. We wanted to prevent this, but we couldn't."

"Who us? Please, nobody is giving the answers that I want, everyone thinks I'm stupid and can't handle it but you guys won't even try. Don't be like them." Nova pleads desperately.

"Did you know that witches once loved this town? My ancestors lived, breathed, and raised their children here for several generations, but then the disaster happened, which I guess you heard about. It was chaos, screams, and cries for help. Innocent people Nova, even mothers, and their children. There are so many witches buried underneath our feet and it hurts, especially when you share the same blood as one of the founding families. However, not all of them died, so we're not extinct yet. But this disaster was nothing compared to what happened next."

Rosalie looks at Nova who has furrowed brows and it's obvious that she didn't like her words. She had heard a little about it from her grandmother. The Sellards family was the one to blame for the massacre of a few innocent citizens a long time ago. People at that time wanted nothing to do with anyone who was different from them, and certainly not someone who wasn't even human.

"However, a few years after that, a small group of witches came back and it was clear that they wanted revenge on the local council and mayor who ordered their extermination. And then they met her."

"Her? Who is she?"

At that moment they both stop. Both turn their heads to the dark alley to their right and listen to sounds that were coming from the darkness. A voice came from the alley, the voice of someone who is obviously in pain. They hear a short cry for help, but it was immediately cut off. It sounded like a young woman desperately trying to call for help, but it was too late. Rosalie takes slow steps to follow the voice that was calling for help a moment ago. Nova had no choice but to stick close to her friend and try to figure out what just happened.

When the two girls get far enough, they both notice a shadow on the ground. It came from a body, that is on the ground in front of them.

It's a woman.

A young woman who has scars on her face and arms. Her skin is pale as if someone had drained the life out of her. Fresh red blood is still running down her face, and her eyes are still open, filled with fear and blood. There is something on her neck that was probably the cause of her death.

A big bloody wound.

Nova's eyes widen, she gasps and covers her mouth with her hands. She almost screams for help. She is just looking at the bloodied body that lies motionless at her feet. More confused than scared, Rosalie begins to look around.

"T-This isn't normal. We have to call someone!"

Nova has to try very hard to formulate a sentence that made sense. She runs a few steps away from Rosalie, back to where they came from, and takes out her cell phone from her pocket. With her shaking hand, she tries to dial the number of the police, her eyes still turning to the poor body.

But her phone was snatched from her hand by an unknown person who moved so fast that Nova couldn't notice. She is startled and starts spinning around frantically. Rosalie notices all this. She runs to her friend and grabs her shoulder.

"I hope you don't want to spoil my fun." a woman's voice comes out of nowhere.

Another girl appears in front of the two. She examines them carefully with her dark eyes and smiles. The girl still had fresh blood around her lips, which run down her neck and onto her chest. Her hands are also stained with blood and she is holding Nova's phone in her right hand. Rosalie frowns, she knows very well who she was and she also realizes who the dead woman behind her was.

"Faye."

"We meet again." Faye waves in their direction.

Nova just looks at Rosalie in confusion and fear before looking back at the unknown girl who is currently licking her lips.

She has never felt this feeling before in her life, she was unsure of everything she knew so far, she didn't know who she could trust and who she couldn't, and thoughts that she didn't appreciate appeared in her head.

I will die today.

"What are you doing here?" Rosalie asks rudely.

It's obvious she wasn't afraid of her. On the contrary from Nova, who was scared to death. She presses herself against Rosalie, watching the girl who calls herself Faye.

"Oh come on, do you want me to starve?" Faye chuckles, walking around them.

"We agreed that nobody would get hurt!"

"And here's the moment I'm going to tell you that he was the only one who agreed. Not me. I'm not going to be a whore of a witch. Besides, who cares. She worked with that bastard Rosemary. It was her or us. Or would you like our princess over there lying in a pool of blood instead of her?"

Rosalie looks out of the corner of her eye at Nova, who is trying to understand everything. But she couldn't. She doesn't know what to feel. They all know much more than she did, she is the one who is at the center of it all, but she has no idea why or how she got here in the first place. She didn't ask for any of it.

"You don't have to judge me like that. I'm doing you a favor." Faye looks at Nova who is still shaking.

"She deserved it. You see, let's say these witches want to kill everyone who wronged them back then. Yes, who would have thought they would come back to this hole, but they did. And it will be my pleasure to make a full lunch out of each and every one of them. So you should thank me."

"Who are you?" Nova asks.

Nova lets go of Rosalie and take a few steps towards Faye, who is walking around the dead body. She must have been happy with what she did today. She had never had a good experience with witches and today was the day she could get at least some revenge.

She tosses her hair and smiles.

"A vampire honey."
