28. Damien vs Phoenix monarch

Out of the large portal, a creature emerged. It was a bird like monster. It's wings were massive, over 500 metres in length and it's eyes which were glowing in a gold light was filled with pride.

It has different colours on it's body like a rainbow and it also has three long tails that looked like many feathers combined.

The creature surveyed the new surrounding which it was summoned to. It noticed the kingdom in the distance and looked at it with anger. It was about to charge towards the kingdom when it was hit by an explosion from below. The large bird looked at the little demons beneath him in rage.

_POV Damien_

Damien seems to recognise this creature as he stared at it with a shocked expression.

"A phoenix?. Why's it here"

He looked at this majestic creature which he can definitely recognise since he had an encounter with one when he was on an adventure.

"They actually summoned a soul monarch phoenix. Just who are these people?"

Damien was shaken a little, but he managed to regain his composure. Looking at the creature, Damien noticed that it was looking towards the kingdom.

"Oh no you don't!"

Damien blasted the phoenix with a firebomb spell and it hit the phoenix right on it's jaw and exploded.

The Phoenix looked down at the little demons below him and let out an ear piercing screech.

*Creeeeeee*

It then flew into the sky at almost light speed, but they coul see it. "Grunt, evacuate the kingdom just in case. The rest of you...let's go after it." Damien commanded and the soldiers all unleashed their wings and chased the beast into the skies.

Grunt wanted to go with them as he loved battles but he went back to the kingdom to evacuate the city.

Damien flew at a very high speed towards the skies. But when they reached the clouds, all they could see was a very bright sun. Or so they thought as the sun got brighter.

Damien soon realised that...

'That's no sun, no. It's the sun but..'

He then created a big fireball and blasted it to the light. Damien's hypothesis was correct as the phoenix flew to the right, dodging his fireball attack and revealing itself.

"Attack!!"

Damien and his men chased after the phoenix who seemed to be flying towards the kingdom now.

'Force enactment'

Damien stretched his hand towards the phoenix and squeezed it. A dark aura Bagan surrounding the phoenix neck it tightened.

*Screeee*

The bird vanished from their view in an instant. Damien eyes shone as the speed of the phoenix was... too much.

"Where did it go?"

The soldiers tensed as they have never seen anything like this before. Normally they would hunt powerful creatures with the demon lord but...what is this?.

"Stay sharp. It's fast!!"

Damien gripped his sword as he flapped his wings, ready for any attack. They could only see light and after images of the Phoenix.

*Swooooo*

The bird flew passed them with it's wings hitting them. All the guards who were not with Damien were killed immediately as it's strong wigs sliced their body. Damien was quick to react as he erupted a barrier in front of him right on time and it's wings hit the barrier instead.

He looked down and saw the demon generals dead, and their pieces falling down.

He gritted his teeth as he flew after the massive bird that was seemingly on flames. The bird noticed Damien closing in on it and it vanished again. Damien looked angry as his eyes glowed blue. He became a beam of light and went after the Phoenix.

*Clank*

He hit the iron like beak of the Phoenix that was about to hit him, but it's beak didn't even have a scratch but it's head was swatted to the side.

Flapping hard, Damien boosted to where the phoenix was.

*Bang*

He punched the head and the phoenix lost balance on air and fell to the land.

Seeing the opportunity he threw the demon sword like a spear towards the phoenix. The bird immediately sensed danger and used it's wings to block itself from the attack.

*Shaa*

The sword pierced the wings. it tried to go further but the bones of the bird were strong.

*Creeeeeee*

The Phoenix was even more enraged now that it was injured. In it's life, it has never felt pain and it was a lovely demon that was inflicting it.

*Raaaaaa*

This was the special ability of his demon sword; it can inflict give times the pain and has a burnished effect on where it has scratched or wounded.

Waves of energy were being emitted from the Phoenix body as heat waves burned all the greenery around them.

It breathed a stream of flames towards Damien. Damien saw the attack and used a barrier to defend himself.

"Looks like I'll have to use it."

He originally didn't want to do a summon since it consumes too much soul energy, but now, what choice does he have.

'Come forth Rako'

A large white portal appeared above Damien and the phoenix. A large white dragon emerged from the portal. It's huge majestic wings stretched out wide.

*ROOOOAAAARRR*

*CREEEEEEEEEEE*

Damien jumped on Rako and pointed the sword at the phoenix.

"Freeze it!!"

He commanded and white light glowed on Rako's scales a little as it blasted the phoenix with it's ice breath, covering it in ice.

After a while if blasting the phoenix was completely covered in ice.

It even looked dead from outside the ice.

"I hope that's enough, I'm running out of energy." Damien laid on the dragon exhausted.

*Grrrrr*

The dragon communicated with Damien telepathically. That's one of the perks of having a familiar

"Yeah I'm fine Rako. Just a little tired"

He struggled to stand up as he looked at the Phoenix inside the ice.

"I'll finish it off!"

His demon sword floated around him and pointed the dragon. The sword seems to be absorbing Damien's energy as it began glowing.

But before he could attack the ice began glowing as it turned to steam at a rapid rate.

"Shit!"

Not wanting to waste time, he launched the sword towards the bird who seems to be free now. As the sword got close to the Phoenix, an invisible force held it from moving forward. The bird hit the sword away with it's wing as it's three tails extended and wrapped Damien and his dragon.

'Ahh...a soul monarch is no joke'

Damien struggled to free himself but it's strength was above his. It threw Damien and the dragon to the ground after it raised them a little.

'Looks like I have no choice'

"Rako, turn into my strength!"

*ROOOOAAAARRR*

The dragon roared as it transformed into a white light and entered Damien's body. This was the skill that all familiars can perform with their masters, it allows him to merge with any living thing to increase his power.

"AHHHH..."

The surroundings seems to freeze as Damien was surrounded by a white aura and his eyes were glowing white.

'Full demon transformation'

Damien grew bigger as his skin turned completely blue and scales began appearing on his body. Two blue dragon wings enlarged to fit his new size. A long tail grew from his back, his claws and fangs grew. He summoned his sword appeared in his hand as he vanished from the spot.

*Shaa*

Damien stabbed the creature on it's back with incredible speed that it'll look as if he vanished. The Phoenix was not able to keep up with him and ended up getting knocked to the ground.

The demon looking Damien ran towards the large bird and slashed it's chest. But he wasn't done as he jumped up and spun around and sliced the throat immediately.

*Bang*

The Phoenix fell to the floor, dead as blood spurted out of it's neck.

"I did it."

Damien fell to his knees as he reverted back to his normal form. A white light shot out of Damien's body and went back into the summoning portal and it closed.

He used his sword to support himself as he could barely stand. Just when he thought that the battle was over, the Phoenix that was dead turned to flames and an orange essence circulated over it. A bright flame erupted from the essence as the fire began to gather and burn the bird.

"What's going on now?"
