Second Round

The girl had got up from the ground and begrudgingly said. "You have won this round."

Kimi nodded in response and coldly let out her response. "Hm."

Once they had both gained enough of a rest and were able to continue, Growlithe was the first to step forward without there needing to be an order from Kimi.

Growlithe had a fiery light in her eyes as she looked expectantly towards the girl that was throwing out a Pokéball. "Growlithe!"

A humanoid Pokémon had appeared from the Pokéball with an ovoid body that was lacking in a distinct neck and head.

Its upper torso had almond-shaped eyes with the back space around them and it had lacked a nose and mouth.

It was brown with cream coloured segmented arms and legs while each hand and foot had three fingers and clawed toes.

The soles of the feet and the ankles had a circle yellow pads, it was Hitmonlee which was the kicking Pokémon evolution of Tyroge that favoured attack over defence stats.

Kimi nodded in approval upon seeing the decision of the girl opposite her. 'I do not know who she is but she seemed to have some sway around here so it is to be expected that she would have one. I wonder if she has the other too? If so then she chose the right one to go against Growlithe.'

Growlithe was lower on the ground so no matter how good a Hitmonchan could have been, they would still be stuck once they started throwing punches towards the ground.

It would have to bend over at times to be able to reach Growlithe and would have to punch from awkward angles that would leave it off balance at times and unable to exert its full power.

If Kimi had chosen a larger Pokémon then Hitmonchan may have been an acceptable choice but since she had stuck with Growlithe, her opponent had decided upon one that could handle Growlithe better.

Kimi had already given Growlithe a small pep talk earlier and she had told her that she had confidence in her no matter what happened.

The voice from the side had yelled. "Begin!"

The girl had waved her hand and ordered while throwing a karate kick of her own. "Low Sweep!"

The Hitmonlee had moved quickly which showed that it was very well trained to reach a higher level which could have been higher than Kimi's Growlithe.

That was within Kimi's expectations since the girl was older than her and if she had been a member of the Dojo for a very long time then it would be likely that the girl may have got a Pokémon before her tenth birthday.

Kimi was no longer in another city where the trainers and Pokémon were of a lower combat level.

Saffron City was full of those with potential that grew due to the competition between each person or group that was drawn there.

The spring-like legs came with a lot of speed and power behind them which threatened to cause a lot of harm to Growlithe and since it was a Low Sweep that was performed, it would be difficult for Growlithe to use her smaller size to duck under it.

Luckily Growlithe had a connection to Kimi who had sensed the approach and intent of the Hitmonlee so the speed of Growlithe had suddenly raised upon using Agility.

The leg of Hitmonlee swept across the location where Growlithe was but it hit nothing so the force had kept its right leg moving from its right to left.

Growlithe had stepped back a little and to her left before getting the order from Kimi through their connection.

The leg that was travelling to her right had been open so Growlithe pounced towards it and bit down onto it upon using Bite. "Growlithe!"

She hit bit down hard which caused the Hitmonlee to feel pain but that pain and the extra weight it had had endure at that time did not affect it too much due to it having an excellent sense of balance.

It quickly stabilised itself and tried to kick its leg to make Growlithe loose her grip on its right leg so Growlithe was moving along with the kicks that Hitmonlee performed.

It may have had the arms to be able to push Growlithe off it or to hit her but its arms were not long enough to reach down to its ankle area that was bit down on.

"Double Kick!"

"Come on keep biting!"

The two girls that were giving out orders of their own had cheered for their Pokémon to encourage them a little more.

There were some times where Growlithe was almost thrown away by the fast movements and the kicks performed but she was able to bite down harder.

The Hitmonlee was gradually getting tired just like Growlithe so it was going down to who could hold out the longest.

The girl could not see the battle go that way so she had called out. "Endure!"

Kimi raised a brow and thought to herself. 'She is going for one all or nothing attack. Agility to prepare!'

It was clear that the girl had thought of a way to deal with Growlithe but once it was done, it was unknown if she could succeed in the same way a second time so she aimed for a winning move when it looked like she was going to be the one losing.

The Hitmonlee was in its weakest state and looked like it was about to lose the battle but it had been able to barely hold on and that was when the next command came. "Revenge towards the ground."

Since Growlithe would not leg go of the leg then that leg would be sent towards the ground along with Growlithe with the power that was gained from Revenge.

Just as the leg was being raised and the Hitmonlee was positioning itself to send put its leg towards that direction, Growlithe had suddenly stopped biting down and dropped down to the ground while Hitmonlee was already in the air.

She was to the back of Hitmonlee to the side a little so the moment that the foot had crashed into the ground that had a training mat on it to cushion the blow, Growlithe had opened her mouth wide and jumped up towards the back of the Hitmonlee before biting down.

The Hitmonlee had fell down which had signalled the victory for Kimi and Growlithe while the girl opposite was left in shock.
