Hitmonlee rushed into combat using its powerful spring-like legs to propel itself forward.
It bounced with each step quickly closing the distance as it responded to Mitsuwa's orders. "Hitmonlee use Brick Break!"
Its leg came out with a swift chopping motion towards the Slowpoke which seemed to not be too focussed and had a silly expression on its face.
Just as the attack was about to land on the body of the Slowpoke, it turned its head without being given an order and let out a weak attack of psychic energy. "Slooow."
Hitmonlee was hit by a weak telekinetic force causing it to be pushed back a little enough to miss its target. "Lee!"
Without giving Hitmonlee a chance to recover, another attack was thrown out by Slowpoke without any orders being given.
Slowpoke attacked Hitmonlee with a pulsing blast of water which pushed it further back, if it had not been for the strong balance and powerful legs of Hitmonlee then it may have lost its balance already. "Poooke."
Confusion which had been followed up with Water Pulse had created the same effects using two different types of moves.
Confusion did double the damage due to the type weakness and the Water Pulse did full damage.
Despite the high special defence that Hitmonlee possessed, it would still be completely fine after taking on such a series of attacks.
It did not seem to want to give up and charged towards the Slowpoke sending out another attempt to land a Brick Break but it missed its target by a small amount.
Hitmonlee slammed down into the ground hurting itself from the recoil of its failed attack before being hit by another Confusion right after its failure.
It was like Hitmonlee was a smaller child fumbling around and making a fool of itself in front of Slowpoke who held the advantage.
Each of Hitmonlee's movements seemed to be predicted and each time there was a decent response which caused its attack to miss or be stopped by an attack from Slowpoke.
Mitsuwa's Hitmonlee was unwilling to give in despite the odds stacked against it until it finally dropped down and fainted. "Lee.."
Mitsuwa brought it back into the Pokéball and looked a little ashamed to have lost in such a manner.
The trainers from the Psychic Gym were very good and even the lower ranked ones had a decent team that had decent levels equal to her own.
She thought she could handle such an opponent since they were not higher ups in the gym but she was proven wrong and was shamed in front of so many.
Just as she was feeling frustrated with herself for bringing shame to herself and the Karate Dojo, she felt a palm be placed on her shoulder. "You just picked the wrong opponent this time. You were just unlucky."
Mitsuwa turned back towards the person who spoke to her and was surprised to see Kimi standing there.
The psychic trainer saw Kimi approach and frowned. "What? You want to lose like your friend too?"
Kimi ignored his provocation and sighed. "Scram away from here now before I file a report for causing a public disturbance to the city, its people and its businesses. Take your petty tricks elsewhere and stop causing a scene here."
She thought to herself. 'They have clearly been using their psychic techniques to gain an advantage over other trainers but technically it is not cheating so they can get away with it even if it is detected.'
Kimi had sensed the use of their psychic abilities and energy during the battle which aided their Pokémon in combat.
It was a basic use of it to sense the surroundings and guide the Pokémon into battling and using moves without the need to speak.
It caused the Pokémon to have a much faster response time since and it made it difficult for other trainers to counter any move that was not shouted out.
Kimi was able to do it using her Aura usage but psychic trainers could do it too especially if they had a compatible psychic Pokémon to set up a telekinetic link between them.
Having a link formed from both parties made it a lot easier for both parties rather than the method Kimi used to relay orders to her Pokémon.
If there was an Aura user among her Pokémon then it would reduce the amount of Aura she would have to waste and the link would be far more synced than any other.
The problem was that Aura users were much rarer in people and Pokémon compared to psychic trainers and Pokémon.
Although it was not technically illegal or against any kind of rules, it did let many psychic trainers who possessed psychic abilities of their own to have an innate advantage over most trainers when it came to battling.
The psychic trainer did not back down to the warning of Kimi then responded. "Huh.. do you think that scares me? The times have changed and this city only has one gym! The league no longer supports and looks after you karate fools.
Why would they bother to put pressure on our gym just for some of you?.. wait.. what is that?"
As if sensing something strange, their eyes flashed dangerously and their aura suddenly picked up.
Their psychic energy began to activate as if trying to summon it to perform a task.
The hand of Kimi tightened around the small device that refused to budge an inch despite the traces of telekinetic energy pulling at it. "I wouldn't really like to see how the league and the city really think about this.
Hmmm…. How about we even let your precious leader hear about this? I am sure that she will be oh so proud to hear her people using her name and prestige like this to cause problems and get away with disorderly conduct."
In order to resolve the situation, she started to record what was happening trying to get some form of proof.
There were many eye witnesses which could help but it would not be enough to move anyone into action to make such disruptions stop.
Luckily the opponent did not have their psychic abilities up at all times and did not scan her body until they suddenly became a little vigilant of her after the words they had spoken.
If their words were to be passed on through the recording device in Kimi's hand then they would be the ones to suffer in the future for bringing shame and trouble to their gym.
Despite their efforts to grab the device, their efforts were in vain as Kimi seemed to be capable of protecting the device from him.
