70 Koichi

Kimi had joined the Dojo so that she could build up her body and work on her Pokémon at the same time but there was an extra benefit that could be obtained if she actually wanted it and wished to go through with the challenge.

The Karate Master of the Dojo may have given out some of the well trained Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee to some of the more important members but anyone else had to earn it through competing with him.

If someone was new to the Dojo or were just passing through then their only option was to challenge the Dojo or the Karate Master himself in order to be given one as a prize.

It was not just Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee that were available to take away since there were other fighting types that had been raised there but the vast majority of Pokémon were made up of the two.

The baby version of them were usually in a much lower supply while the more balanced evolution had yet to be discovered so there did not seem to be any among the group that were training out in the open.

Tyrogue was the baby version which could be raised from a low level into Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan and Hitmontop which all had made decent options for a fighting type Pokémon.

What Kimi was lacking in her team was exactly a fighting type that was able to practice martial arts alongside her but she was uncertain if the options available to her in the current region would be enough to satisfy her.

Her main Pokémon in her primary team had become Growlithe and Espeon while the others were just placeholders until she found a better option.

Poliwag, Tangela, Cubone and Ryhorn would be able to help fill those vacant spots and make up for different roles but they were not the final team that she had in mind.

Kimi had known for sure that raising Poliwag was just to help it evolve into a Politoad and once shiny Feebas had shown some signs of evolving, the two would be switched over.

Ryhorn made a decent tough option that could tank some attacks and work as a mount but once it had evolved, its overall usage would be lowered and it was less likely to be effectively used as a mount since it was much larger and would change in shape.

Tangela had potential to become a good crowd control and restraining type once it had evolved while it could prove useful for group healing but it still did not qualify for a final choice for Kimi especially when healing and status conditions were covered by Chansey.

Cubone evolving into Marowak was another valid option but Kimi would much rather have a better fighting or assassin role in its place that could fight in a closer range and could display more combat power.

Growlithe was a good allrounder while Espeon provided various predictive and support type assistance to the team with her psychic abilities so there needed to be other roles that could be filled.

Mankey, Primape, Tyrogue, Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, Hitmontop, Machop, Machoke and Machamp were the only available in her region that were pure fighting types that could fill one of those roles unless they had a dual type.

If she wished to obtain another that was from the single fighting type or was a dual type then Kimi would have to visit another region and would have to track them down herself.

She did once have a Meditite in her previous life that was a psychic and fighting type but it was unknown if she would come across it again in her present life.

Mankey was far too hotheaded for her to have the patience to raise and Machop was another that she did not find too pleasing to look at especially with its extra arms once fully evolved.

Upon hearing the offer from the Karate Master, Kimi had begun to consider his offer seriously and responded. "I was planning on staying here anyways since I have moved into the city but we should discuss that tomorrow."

The Karate Master had nodded before commenting. "Then I will see you tomorrow. I am sorry about my niece.. I will get her to apologise to you personally by then, she will have had time to reflect upon herself by then. She is called Mitsuwa by the way, hopefully you two can become friends."

Kimi bowed before leaving. "See you tomorrow and we will see how things go."

It was a new life for Kimi and there would be a need for her to make some friends or rivals along the way since she had been given a new opportunity in life but there were some things that would provide complications.

One of them was her private life that could get in the way of such friendships so she was not prepared to jump into relationships right away.

Koichi the Karate Master had let out a sigh before going to scold his niece and to get her to reflect on her mistakes.

He had known for a long time that Mitsuwa was abusing her position as his niece and as someone that had decent potential within the Dojo but he had overlooked it since she had meant well.

She was a trouble maker but she had made trouble often to protect the Dojo that she cared for.

It did create some problems at times but it had allowed the weak and uncommitted to be weeded out much earlier so he had often let it slide but he had later realised that Mitsuwa was not getting any better with how she was treating others so he wanted to see her suffer a defeat.

Mitsuwa was stubborn and if she kept winning while seeing herself in the right all the time then she would never be able to learn from her mistakes and learn where she was lacking.

His niece was named Mitsuwa by his sister and her name had the meaning to fill or fulfil which meant that her mother was wishing her daughter to be able to recognise where she was missing something so that she could improve and learn to make up for those flaws.

Since they had come from a tougher and stricter household, many of the family members were given names that had strong meanings or were more focussed towards wishing their children to be diligent and healthy.

Once Koichi had seen the movements of Kimi when she was fighting both battles against Mitsuwa, he had come to see her natural talents but also saw something else in her.

He had seen similar things before when it came to a natural ability to react to events and to respond perfectly when he had encounters with Sabrina and those of her Psychic Gym.

He did not feel anything strange like Psychic wavelengths or energies that were released from the body of Kimi but there were some familiar patterns that let him see how Kimi was able to read her opponent better than others.

If she did possess some kind of ability like that then it was all the more reason for Kimi to be given some more preferential treatment and to make her a full member of the Karate Dojo even if it meant making some offers that would not be offered to just anyone.

Koichi had an eye for talent and could spot talented fighters so he knew that Kimi had possessed something special that could not just be gained through training and lifting weights on their own.

He had seen the arrival of Kimi as something that was good for the Dojo but it was also good for his niece to have someone to learn from.

He knocked on the door that had been locked and called out. "Mitsu? Are you still sulking?"
