Illegal market

The money that she made was withdrawn from her account and was taken along with her as she left her home late into the night.

Along with her was a illegal Pokéball which contained Grimer which had finished digesting the corpses.

She headed through Veridian City until she reached a place where she could hide herself then she removed a cloak and white mask which covered her face and body.

Kimi exited the hidden location and then walked into a back alley with her hood up and her face covered, she quickly found herself in a run down market place which was kept open beyond the ordinary opening hours for businesses.

Many of the people stood around and looked very threatening while some had done the same as Kimi, they had chosen to hide their identity to avoid being recognised in such a place. 'Ah.. Veridian City black market how I have missed you.'

Although she thought so, she showed a mocking look on her face as if remembering many difficulties.

During her time as a police officer, one of her duties was to crack down on such places and catch those connected to them but it was often more trouble than it was worth.

Officers that interrupted their illegal dealings usually got a target on their backs and most often, the raids on such places were discovered early as if there were moles placed inside the justice system.

While it was not surprising that there was hidden corruption within the Jenny family and the other officers, Kimi knew that Giovanni probably had a hand in most of the underground dealings so as someone with heavy connections in the league, he could easily arrange things so certain places could operate and avoid being torn down.

For it to be able to be run in a slum area within the city without it being constantly harassed by guards and police meant that some had been paid or controlled to stop such things from interrupting the business being done in that area.

Kimi walked slowly as she observed the stalls then she found herself in front of one. "I need an identity card and other identification that can pass as a real."

An old man straightened up and observed her. "You are so small and young but you are already journeying into this place. Kids these days.. sigh. Give me a moment… name? Age? City? Any preferences?"

Kimi answered him. "Luci, eleven years old so set a random birth date that suits it. City can be Veridian City."

The old man took out a small camera device and told her to stand aside. "Move over there. Good. 3, 2, 1 and done!"

He started to come up with all kinds of fake information as he forged the documents on the spot then printed out several cards. "These should be enough to get you registered in any place that does not check the ID and does not scan it. Though if you decide to show this to just about anyone, they may wonder why you are hiding your face."

Kimi paid the old man and took everything away as she looked at the card which had a small picture of her wearing the hood and white mask. "Thanks, I only plan on using this when it is needed so I should not have many problems. Farewell."

As she walked away, she thought to herself. 'I thought I recognised him, he is the old computer wiz and hacker who was brought in at one time. He really has no fear openly showing his face… no wonder he got caught.'

"Selling a green Charmander!"

"I have many insect types!"

"Illegal Pokéballs for sale!"

"Selling Pokémon found in the safari zones."

Kimi looked over and her eyes lit up as she approached a stall. "What is it you have?"

It was obvious from their words that they had snuck into one of the safari areas and stolen or obtained the Pokémon with illegal Pokéballs but Kimi required such Pokémon to back up Grimer.

The vendor pushed a piece of paper forward to show what was available.

Kimi's eyes went down the list. 'Cubone, Tangela, Tauros, Kangaskhan, Pinser, Ryhorn, Nidoran… and finally Scyther. Wait.."

There were many which did not fit her preferences then her eyes lit up as she saw the yellow talent of the Scyther.

Kimi saw the price of it and she wept over the loss of most of her money but it was a worthy investment. "This one please. Is there any reason why the price is slightly lower than the others?"

The vendor sighed. "If you want to buy it then I will not stop you but this guy has been returned many times already. Are you sure?"

Although it take a lot of the money she earned since she returned, it was strange to find a yellow grade talent with such a low price unless it had problems. "I am sure."

The money was handed over and Kimi released the Scyther to confirm it then took it back. "Thanks."

"You are welcome." The vendor was all smiles as he watched her walk away then his eyes turned cold. 'Another has fallen into the trap.'

Kimi then browsed some other stalls and spent the rest of her money on several items which she recognised. "Can't you go any lower?"

The vendor shook their head. "No."

Kimi let out a sigh then pointed towards a soft looking cube which had the appearance of metal which was sitting there in a small tub and a cheap bottle of a fish scale cleaner. "I will accept if you can include these two into the price."

'They are just useless items which nobody has looked at so it is no problem.' The vendor looked at them both and nodded. "Okay. Deal."

Meanwhile Kimi accepted the purchases with a smile on her face then left the market. 'Metal Coat.. and I think I have enough for two evolutions. Nice find! With this I should be able to satisfy the conditions for Scyther to evolve but I should wait for now. This sure is a lucky night but..'

Kimi could feel several eyes on her as she moved through the market so she increased her pace as she exited the slums and entered a secluded and dark alley where there were many twists and turns. 'How many? 2? No there is three.'

She ran further in as she sensed them approaching and as their footsteps sped up, Kimi turned the corner and looked around. 'Nobody is here. That is good.'

Her red eyes brightened underneath her mask and then she hid her body among the rubble.

Two knives were unsheathed from her waist slowly. 'I cannot call out Grimer here, the sound will alert them and let them know that I know they are following and that will only put them on guard.'

The three people came around the corner and looked around. "Did she spot us?"

"Spread out and search, she cannot be far."

"If she is hiding in such a place then she must really be scared heh."

They were not aware that she was an experienced martial artist and had mastered all kinds if subduing techniques along with the use of aura, even with a smaller and weaker body, she did not fear them and was waiting for the chance to strike.

"She may have made a turn somewhere so one of you go ahead."

"I will stay with you boss."

"I will go."

Kimi kept her presence as hidden as possible and she waited patiently until one of them passed by and continued on their way.

The other two started to search but Kimi frowned as she remembered something. 'That was the vendor from before wasn't it? Was the Scyther possibly a trap? If so then it is no wonder that it had been apparently returned many times since it probably betrayed their current owner and returned to their previous one.'

Such scams were quite rare among trading and the one Kimi was involved in was even more sinister and dangerous.

Three people had tracked and cornered her so that she would have to call out her Pokémon to protect herself but among them would be the Scyther which was waiting to stab her in the back to assist its previous master.

Not only would they keep the money for the sale but they would take back the Scyther along with anything else she had on her body.

Her eyes grew colder and she jumped out as her body was lowered and cut the leg of the leader of the group then as they were falling, she threw one knife towards the other which hit their back.

"Gah."

"Argh."

A knife went downward and plunged into the back of the head of the leader then she crossed a short distance to where the injured man stood and was reaching for his Pokéballs.

Her movements were quick and precise as there was not a single bit of blood on her body, she slashed the leg of the man and quickly ended his life.

Kimi knew that the sounds would draw back the other companion of them so she hurried to where they went and waited near the corner where they would walk past.

Two knives were readied and as the person passed her, she cut at his leg which caused him to fall.

Before he could let out a scream, his life was ended quickly.

Kimi did not waste any time as she rummages through their bodies and took anything of value. 'Should I risk it?'

A large bag of illegal Pokéballs was stacked up inside the bag she carried but she took out one and then released one. "Grimer."

Grimer looked towards her then saw the corpses. "Grime grime?"

Kimi nodded. "So you know what I mean already. Be quick as you can. I will keep a lookout."

She activated her aura sense and spread it out so she could detect the movements in the surroundings. 'Hopefully nobody will come this way. If they do then I just need to run away.'

Grimer went towards the first body and started to shove the dead body into its mouth, the body slowly was being broken down within Grimer as its body had become more more toxic than before.

Kimi watched as the bodies were eaten and being broken down then almost vomited due to the horrible sight and smell that she was close to. 'No wonder that guy was such a menace. The smell alone is deadly..'

After she was finished, Kimi returned home after taking many detours and switched her clothes so that she would not be recognised.

When she changed, she made Grimer destroy the remaining evidence which was her previous clothes, cloak and mask.

Kimi looked down at the bag of illegal Pokéballs and smiled. "This is quite the gain. Now I just need to find out what each of these are and put them under my control."

"But for now.." Her eyes turned to Eevee and Growlithe who were resting on her bed. "Off to bed."

"Eevee eev eevee!"

"Grow growl growlithe!"

Kimi then went into a deep sleep as she snuggled with her two main partners.
