Chapter 18: Discovery

Likewise always I was going to my usual place as to meet up with Ivy and teach her stuff or spend time with her.

It's been five months since I became friends with her.

I've been going there since the day I met her. I could see her there waiting for me but sometimes I found myself there alone so did she.

I taught her magic as well as how to read and write while continuing to practice sword techniques and magic.

She can now cast elementary level magic with no problem however her literacy is still a long way to go.

My sword skill isn't improving much however my magic skill is really getting a lot better.

I continued doing research and stupid stuff with mana.

I can now at least control the flow of my mana and rate of it flowing on it and the amount too. Due to that water flowing on it can and can't be seen.

Simply, water goes flying from sword if I swung it even though there's no any water flowing on it. Holding it with either of my hands also doesn't effect anything. I can swing it by holding it with only one or both of my hands, water goes out flying.

If I want to cut something with it I just have to flow my mana on it, I don't know how but somehow it becomes durable and light and sharp.

I just discovered it a week ago while researching I think.

If I turn mana into water as it flows on it and try to slice something, it really cuts through easily with little force however cutting hard object requires a little more strength.

The speed of water flowing on my sword can be controlled and if I make it real fast, the water enhances the sword's sharpness and it itself becomes slightly invisible to the naked eye and the sword glitters slightly like a real sword.

I can freeze things too.

As I walked I thought.

I reached the place.

There's no one there.

I think it's been a few days since she last came here. Well it can't be help you know, she just can't come everyday nor I can.

During the time I was being alone here, I just either practices magic or sword techniques or did research and sometimes I went to the forest. I never went to her home because I don't know the way, only she knows the way.

I'm actually waiting for her invitation. Hope she invites me someday.

Talking of which, she used to think of me as a girl because of my long girl like hairs however I fixed her misunderstanding by telling her about me being boy.

She didn't believe me at first however when I began to get naked after asking her if she wanted to see me naked, she immediately stopped me from getting naked.

At that time I wasn't really going get naked, I was just teasing her.

I got afraid of she losing her confidence to talk to me however I was wronged after revealing her my gender.

Instead of losing her confidence to talk, she started to talk more and more.

Occasionally we moved inside the forest just to explore it.

"By the way can I do fishing here?"

"Of course I can but I need equipments or I can make them. There're trees everywhere. I can use their wood to make something like a spear or something."

"Wait a minute, even if I made spear, who's gonna fish with it?

Me?

Are you kidding me.

I can't wield this sword properly and I'm talking about fishing with spear."

"But if I can somehow control this sword like I control and guide crystals of ice, I can make it move the way I want, right? And if that happens I can just focus on fish, that sword will do fishing work for me. I don't have to do a thing but focus on guiding it."

"Is that even possible? How can I just transfer my mana and control, huh?"

"If I managed to do it then it's cheating since other can't do such things, right?"

"Well, I know a little thing about this world so who knows maybe there're people somewhere doing or thinking stupid things like me."

"I should just research about it. I've plenty of time. If I succeeded controlling my sword I can control other things too."

"Now let's think about the facts."

I was observing my sword.

"I can control ice crystals by my mind. If I imagined any shape, it turns into that shape."

I created ice crystals and made different kind of shapes.

"Why it is happening?"

"It's shape depends on my imagination and controlling it depends on my mind and my mana and the link."

"The vision of line disappearing is the result of the link between me and ice crystals breaking."

"If that happens, I can no longer guiding the crystals."

"So the link is the main thing and I have to somehow activate the link between me and the sword in order to guide and control it, right?"

"But how do I do that?"

"If I've to control the ice crystals I've to go through stages as to activate the link."

"First thread travels through infinite darkness and reaches beaming light and it travels through it afterwards that thread looking thing connects with crystal that shows up right after going through the beaming of light if I happen to imagine ice crystal."

"So let's just focus and concentrate and see if the thread appears or not."

I closed my eyes and began the process.

I was holding my sword with my right hand.

The thread seems to appear and it also passes through the beaming of light plus my sword appears after that too however the thread can't seems to connect with it.

I wonder why is that?

Am I doing something wrong here?

Think, think.

The ice crystal is made up of mana that's why the link got activated, right?

If so, I can make my mana flow around it and then I can activate the link.

I think so, let's try doing that.

First wait till seeing the sword and the tread and right after that I've to transfer a little mana to my sword as to flow around it.

Great, there's sword and the thread trying to connect with it.

Now it's time to transfer some mana to my sword and see what happens.

The thread started moving calmly and stopped after moving to the button of the sword and it got connected to it and right after that the brightness of sword increased and the vision of the line in my head appeared.

Right after that I opened my eyes as to observe the sword.

As I opened my eyes I released the sword from my hand as right after that what I encountered was amazing.

My little wooden sword was floating and if I imagined going it left it did move there plus it I was able to control it with my mind and fingers too.

"I can't believe in myself. What did I just discover? Damn… I'm joyed now I can move it the way I want."

I stopped playing with the sword.

"What should I do now?"

"Go somewhere, inside the forest?"

"Maybe that's better than staying here. She's probably not going to come today too so let's just go and explore the forest."

"By the way, I can just use crystals of ice for fishing since I can control if flawlessly fishing with it is not going to be a problem, right?"

"Just create one single spiky ice and operate it and move it inside the river as to angle so fishes."

"Damn, why didn't I thought about it earlier?"

"Oh well, I did learn new thing so there's no reason for me to feel stupid.

I waited there a bit while practicing creating some shapes like sword, spear, bird, snake, egg, leaves, fish…, from ice crystals.

I can make this big sword float around, change its characteristics and size effortlessly.

Maybe it's because I practice everyday.

I wonder how much mana does it require while controlling it.

I can also create big sword and use it to cut things or use as attack magic since I can control it unlike other magic which is only attacks one time and requires casting every time while attacking with it.

Afterwards I decided to head to the forest.

"I wonder if there's any animals in this forest."

"Of course there're not."

In course of being here many times, and going inside the woods with her time to time, I never encountered any animals. I only could hear birds.

But it doesn't mean this forest is empty. There're at least insects, spiders and reptiles like little animals.

Maybe if I go deep, I could find mammals or big animals. If not then at least wild horses. But if I encounter something hazardous, it'll be bad, really bad.

Well, I'm also bad news for them. I can use magic to protect myself.

Wait, wait, don't get your hopes high. You don't have any real battle experience and there's not knowing what could happen in the future.

You have to be careful if you go deep.
