“I just didn’t feel like staying by myself tonight,” I answer nonchalantly, not wanting him to figure the entire reason out.
“Because of how the last party ended for you,” he guesses immediately, lowering his voice so only I can hear. “You’re scared.”
“I’m not scared,” I scoff at him defensively.
“I get it. I don’t expect you to just be entirely unaffected.”
“I’m not scared,” I persist. “I’m completely fine.”
“Then you’ll be fine with him going home,” he challenges.
“No, because that wasn’t our plan.”
“What do you think he could do if someone was here?”
“Just because he’s not as big as you or as massive as you are, doesn’t mean he’s incapable. He is strong and muscular too.”
“He’s not staying here.”
“I’m sorry. What gave you the impression that’s your call to make? He’s staying.”
“My night’s been cleared up so don’t think I don’t have time to ensure he doesn’t.”
