I set to work on it and finally get it to stay up. Proud of myself, I step back and admire my work, hands on my hips.
“Look at you,” Riley says, coming up beside me and admiring my tent with me.
I shrug, a proud smile on my face. “I guess, if you’re stubborn enough, you’ll get it eventually.”
I look around and see Connor looking down at his phone, his eyes dark and his face angry. He walks a short distance into the woods and puts the phone to his ear, talking angrily into it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him this angry. I frown at him and he looks up and notices. He quickly turns around and finishes his conversation.
I turn back to Riley and see him watching me already. I look away, embarrassed at being caught watching Connor.
“You really like him,” he comments.
“Like who?” I ask, acting oblivious.
“Don’t play dumb. Your eyes keep wandering back to him.”
