Another Contract : twisted way

For a couple few days Val and I avoided interaction but the silence was never an answer to such issues, we simply couldn't ghost each other forever inside these four pillar houses. I wanted answers but I was hesitant to make the first move and seems like he was hesitant too which was completely unexpected from a Man who built an empire on his own

" is it normal for him to be hesitant? " I asked

" you never know serenity " replied Alisha

Alisha had the best relationship advice, as for me, I never did. I had a crush on someone back in senior high but it didn't go as I thought, I just hope to never see him.

" I just thought of him..." I uttered

" Who? That rich jerk ? " she said loudly

" yes," I replied hesitantly. The next thing I know she swirled my ears with her lectures for hours when I finally couldn't take it I made an excuse and said bye. Just then Dexter came over with his blooming smile and told me that Val wants to see me, I was a bit hesitant but I agreed. When I entered Val's office my jaw dropped, every bit of it was as luxury as a couple of billion bucks! I think he saw me gazing at the interior like a hawk because I think I saw a mischievous grin on his face.

" so... " I slowly and carefully uttered

"So? " he asked looking through his files

"Why did you call me here? " I asked

"About that, sign this," he said sliding some papers toward me

"What is this? " I asked picking them up

"A marriage agreement " he replied casually

" WHAT!? "

I screamed so loud that Dexter had to check up on us. Val pushed aside his files and asked me to sit in front of him. He explained that his Dad is forcing him to get married to a girl he doesn't like.

" then why me? You don't like me either " I said going through each term on the papers

" you are just a kid, it will be over soon" he replied

"Okay...but I have a few conditions..." I hesitated

" I see. What are they " he leaned back on his chair and lifted his left brow giving me a look that meant it was going to be a no to my every request

"After vacations, I will continue college," I said

" Okay, next? " he replied with an unexpected answer so I could finally calm down

" I don't want it to be public because it will affect me and my privacy " I continued and he nodded in agreement

" you won't touch me," I said

"no" he replied

" but— " I continued

" No " he shut me off before I could continue

" fine I won't sign it, " I said leaving the papers on the table

" if you dared to leave the office I will make your parent's lives miserable," he said without flinching and my throat went dry "Just a matter of a year and I will let you go " he continued

" we can act as a couple in front of your father, not when we are alone "A spark of light burst within me and I blushed, looking away to avoid eye contact with him

" fine " he replied after a while.

I don't know why but I think I saw Val frown, he was neutral, happy, or angry but never upset but it doesn't matter. Just a year and I will be free, forever, and go back to Alisha and my normal life.

I have rarely seen her smile but one thing I knew I loved that smile of hers for the first time I didn't want to see any of that rare view of heaven. she seemed so happy to leave, maybe I didn't treat her as well as I should've. I was beyond upset and gloomy for the rest of the day which was unlikely to happen to me, ever.

" what's wrong? " dexter asked

" she seemed so happy to leave me " I replied casually without thinking twice.

"Well, since when did you start caring for someone you met a few months ago? " he replied

his reply got me wondering, " Since when did I start caring for a stranger who has been eager to leave me since the beginning?", maybe I've been....different lately.

" so do you love her? " dexter asked and I was taken away by shock, for the first time I didn't have an answer. how can anyone fall in love with a total stranger, no, it's not love...or is it?. the rest of the day I couldn't concentrate on anyone or anything, the question of Dexter was buzzing in my ears, all the time. by the time I was finally left alone in peace, I took a set by the window with a picture of my mother in my hands under the dazzling moonlight and thought it through. hours after hours I was sitting there motionless until the dawn took its charge and I had my answer

" she could never fall for me, she deserves a better person " I uttered to myself placing my mother's picture on my bedside table and preparing for a new day of a new life. in a matter of few hours, serenity will be my bride.

" So, are you sure? " asked dexter

"Yes"

" do you love her? " he hesitated

" she and I are sun and moon, can never be together and too bright for each other, she can never fall for me" I replied losing my tie

" if you say so " he shrugged his shoulder and continued driving in silence, by the time we got to the marriage bureau office serenity was already there, looking awkwardly alone along with another girl a little taller than her, by now I was used to her hating being in crowds so it didn't trouble but I gulped looking at her beautiful self, she looked gorgeous. The white silk dress simply melted in her soft skin, I have never seen her showing too much of her body and now I didn't want her to. I dashed towards her and covered her naked shoulders with my coat, which was too big for her. She looked at me confused but didn't protest, we went inside and registered ourselves as married couples. So there it began the real twists.
